Summary Early stages of the infection process of Puccinia hordei isolate 1.2.1 and of a P. recondita f.sp. tritici isolate were studied on adult plants of four barley lines and one wheat line. Two of the barley lines are extremely susceptible to P. hordei, the other two have a very high level of partial resistance.A histological study based on a trypan blue staining indicated that stoma penetration by P. hordei isolate 1.2.1 was equally successful on the susceptible as on the partially resistant adult barley plants. Abortion of substomatal vesicles was rare in all lines. These results do not support a hypothesis that mechanisms of partial resistance in adult plants differ from those in seedlings by a substantial abortive stoma penetration.Also in the nonhost combinations wheat-P. hordei and barley-P. recondita f.sp. tritici inhibition of stoma penetration and of substomatal vesicle development appears to play a biologically insignificant role in adult plants.The proportion of stoma penetration on the leaf sheaths of two of the barley lines was as high as on the leaf blades of the flag leaf and the leaf below the flag leaf. Celery has little genetic diversity and is highly susceptible to the new fungal pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. apii (Foa) race 4. After screening an Apium graveolens germplasm collection for resistance to Foa race 4, we crossed celery cv. 'Challenger', which is Foa race 2-resistant but Foa race 4-susceptible and A. graveolens PI 181714, which is Foa races 2- and 4-resistant but non-celery type. After selfing F1s, we screened the F1S1 for race 4-resistance and celery-type and then selfed selected F1S1. Greenhouse and field trials indicate that three selected F1S2 families (76–8-4, 76–8-27 and 76–8-36) are suitable as germplasm for celery breeders for resistance to Foa race 4. A F1S3 76–8–36-124 is either fixed or nearly so for resistance to Foa races 4 and 2. Furthermore, quantitative PCR indicates that PI 181714 is resistant, rather than tolerant, to Foa races 4 and 2, and that this resistance has been introgressed into F1S3 76–8–36-124. 相似文献

Summary Partial resistance (PR) in wheat to wheat leaf rust (Puccinia recondita f.sp. tritici) is characterized by a slow epidemic build-up despite a susceptible infection type. Two greenhouse tests and two field tests, in which 11 spring wheat cultivars were exposed to five wheat leaf rust races, revealed some indication for race-specificity of PR.In the greenhouse, the expression of PR was highly dependent on the environment. Significant cultivar-race interactions in the first experiment were lost in the second experiment probably due to cultivar-environment and cultivar-race-environment interactions.In the polycyclic field tests several factors played a role in explaining the inconsistency of the cultivar-race interactions, such as differences in initial inoculum, genotypic differences in earliness, interplot interference or environmental conditions.One cultivar-race combination showed a significant but small interaction towards susceptibility in both field experiments. The interaction was probably too small to detect in the monocyclic greenhouse tests. The results do not conflict with the idea that a gene-for-gene relationship could exist between PR-genes in the host and genes in the pathogen.Some problems with regard to the selection of PR in wheat to wheat leaf rust are discussed. 相似文献

Race specific powdery mildew resistance in 23 winter wheat cultivars, eight spring wheat cultivars, and 14 lines/cultivars possessing known powdery mildew resistance genes, has been studied by analyzing host/pathogen interactions. The cultivars were tested as intact seedlings, and as detached primary leaf segments on water agar; both methods revealed reproducible and concordant results. The 45 cultivars/lines were divided into 24 resistance spectra according to the patterns of reaction to the powdery mildew isolates used. Of the 31 cultivars investigated, eight did not possess any of the resistance genes detected, and the remaining 23 were divided in 16 resistance spectra. The race specific resistance of nine cultivars was conferred by the single resistance genes Pm2, Pm4b, Pm5/Ml-i: or Pm6, while the race specific resistance of 14 cultivars was conferred by 2, 3, 4 or 5 genes in combination. 相似文献

The inheritance of the Mlk powdery mildew resistance originating from ‘Heine 2174.50’ was analyzed by crossing the Mlk resistant cultivar ‘Ralle’× cv. ‘Amor’ (highly susceptible) and vice versa and by observing the reactions of F1- and F2-plants after inoculation with two different Mlk avirulent powdery mildew isolates. In all cases, a 3 (resistant): I (susceptible) segregation was found in F2. The reactions of the F2plants against the two powdery mildew isolates were identical in each case. Therefore, it is supposed that one dominant resistant gene is responsible for the resistant reactions against these two isolates. 以尖镰孢菌黄瓜专化型(Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.cucumerium)为指示菌从青海高寒草地牧草内生细菌中筛选拮抗菌株,结合形态学特征和16Sr DNA基因序列同源性分析鉴定,并进行促生功能测定。结果表明,供试的81株内生细菌中36株有拮抗作用,占供试菌株的44.0%,其中从根部分离的13株的抑菌率均在50.0%以上,菌株2018GH11对6属8种病原真菌的抑菌率均在50.0%以上,特别对孜然根腐病菌的抑菌率达67.6%,抑菌谱宽;根据形态学特征和16Sr DNA基因序列分析将其鉴定为暹罗芽孢杆菌Bacillus siamese;2018GH11具有固氮能力,无溶磷和产IAA能力;发酵菌剂2018GH11用量为0.50%时,黄瓜株高、茎粗、叶片数、鲜重及干重分别比对照增加了15.33%、39.40%、22.22%、215.99%和126.70%。该结果表明高寒草地牧草内生细菌2018GH11具有良好的防病促生作用,开发潜力巨大。 相似文献

2003~2004年应用2年生南方红豆杉幼苗进行扦插试验研究,结果表明:不同时间扦插的插穗生根时间最多相差2个月,2月中旬至3月中旬为最适宜扦插季节,扦插后3~5个月的生根率高于其它月份。用河沙与红泥作基质扦插,在不同季节扦插中以河沙作基质的生根效果比红泥的好。用生根剂处理有利于插穗提早生根及增加生根数量,以冬季及早春应用的效果较为明显,应用生根剂的插穗在扦插3~5个月后的生根率和生根数量与对照比有显著差异。不同类型插穗的扦插生根率在不同月份扦插的结果不同,但其差异不显著。 相似文献
