Marine organisms harbor numerous bioactive substances that can be utilized in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Scientific research on various applications of collagen extracted from these organisms has become increasingly prevalent. Marine collagen can be used as a biomaterial because it is water soluble, metabolically compatible, and highly accessible. Upon review of the literature, it is evident that marine collagen is a versatile compound capable of healing skin injuries of varying severity, as well as delaying the natural human aging process. From in vitro to in vivo experiments, collagen has demonstrated its ability to invoke keratinocyte and fibroblast migration as well as vascularization of the skin. Additionally, marine collagen and derivatives have proven beneficial and useful for both osteoporosis and osteoarthritis prevention and treatment. Other bone-related diseases may also be targeted by collagen, as it is capable of increasing bone mineral density, mineral deposition, and importantly, osteoblast maturation and proliferation. In this review, we demonstrate the advantages of marine collagen over land animal sources and the biomedical applications of marine collagen related to bone and skin damage. Finally, some limitations of marine collagen are briefly discussed. 相似文献

利用烟草表达一种新型鲑鱼降钙素,以期为利用植物系统表达鲑鱼降钙素的研究提供理论参考。首先构建含外源基因“p il-m sCT”的植物双元表达载体p35S-2300-tw in T-DNA s∶p il-m sCT∶NO S-ter,然后通过农杆菌介导法转化烟草,获得卡那霉素抗性烟草128株,其中PCR阳性植株14株(阳性率10.94%);Sou thern b lotting分析表明外源基因已整合到烟草基因组中,拷贝数为2~8个;半定量RT-PCR结果显示,转基因烟草株间“p il-m sCT”转录水平存在较大差异。 相似文献

AIM:To study the relationship between serum insulin-like growth factor- 1 (IGF-1), insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) levels, bone mineral density(BMD) and bone metabolic markers in postmenopausal women. METHODS:Serum IGF-1, IGFBP-3, osteocalcin(BGP), isomeric C-telopeptide of type I collagen (β-CTX), estradiol(E2), calcitonin(CT), parathormone(PTH), calcium (Ca), and phosphorus(P) were measured in 90 postmenopausal osteoporosis patients and 70 healthy postmenopausal women. BMD of lumbar vertebra and left femoral neck were determined by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry.RESULTS:BMD of lumbar vertebra and left femoral neck decreased significantly (P<0.01), serum IGF-1, IGFBP-3, E2, CT and BGP decreased significantly (P<0.01), serum β-CTX and PTH increased significantly in postmenopausal osteoporosis group (P<0.01). There were no significantly differences in serum Ca, P between two groups (P>0.05). BMD of lumbar vertebra and left femoral neck were positively correlated with serum IGF-1, IGFBP-3, E2, CT and BGP, but negatively correlated with β CTX and PTH. There were no correlation with serum Ca, P and BMD.CONCLUSION:Serum IGF-1, IGFBP-3, E2, CT, BGP, β-CTX and PTH level were correlated with BMD of lumbar vertebra and left femoral neck. 选用200只24周龄健康海兰褐蛋鸡,随机分为4组:对照组(基础日粮中含钙3.55%)、低钙组(日粮合钙1.27%)、试验Ⅰ组(依普黄酮8 mg/kg,低钙日粮)和试验Ⅱ组(依普黄酮20 mg/kg,低钙日粮),观察依普黄酮对骨质疏松症笼养蛋鸡血清及骨骼骨保护素(Osteo protegerin,OPG)/核因子-相受体活化因子配体(Receptor activatorof NF-κB ligand,RANKL)表达的影响.结果显示:与低钙组相比,30 d时,试验Ⅰ组和Ⅱ组血清OPG分别显著升高33.12%和60.19%(P<0.05);60 d时,试验Ⅰ组和Ⅱ组血清OPG分别显著升高35.89%和61.59% (P<0.05);30 d时,试验Ⅰ组和Ⅱ组血清RANKL分别极显著降低63.85%和70.87%(P<0.01);60 d时,试验Ⅰ组和Ⅱ组血清RANKL分别极显著降低69.98%和72.85% (P<0.01).与低钙组相比,试验Ⅰ组和Ⅱ组骨组织OPG平均光密度分别显著(P<0.05)和极显著(P<0.01)升高,试验Ⅰ组和Ⅱ组蛋鸡骨组织RANKL平均光密度极显著低于低钙组蛋鸡(P<o.01).试验Ⅰ组和Ⅱ组OPG/RANKL值高于低钙组.结果表明,低钙日粮中添加依普黄酮对蛋鸡骨质疏松症可起到一定改善作用,这可能与OPG上调,RANKL下调,影响RANKL信号通路,使其骨量增加,骨结构改善密切相关. 相似文献

The Spontaneously Diabetic Torii (SDT) fatty rat, a model for obese type 2 diabetes,
shows bone quantitative abnormalities, namely low bone mineral density (BMD). The
objective of this study was to evaluate bone morphological changes, in particular
identifying the bone qualitative abnormalities, in the SDT fatty rat. Male SDT fatty rats
showed increases in total trabecular area and trabecular number and decreases in
trabecular thickness in cancellous bones of the proximal tibia, indicating trabecular
miniaturization. The SDT fatty rat is useful for investigation of pathophysiological

AIM: To characterise and explain the increase in density evident by computerised tomography (CT) and radiography in companion studies as a response to training, in bone in the palmar and dorsal regions of the condyles of the third metacarpal bone (Mc3) of 2-year-old Thoroughbred horses. METHODS: Compositional back-scattered electron (BSE) imaging in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and confocal scanning laser microscopy (CSLM) were conducted on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)-embedded mediolateral slices of the right distal Mc3 from seven 2-year-old Thoroughbred horses trained on a racetrack and seven untrained horses kept at pasture. One left Mc3 from each group was studied in transverse section planes. This study focussed on regions of Mc3 found to differ in density between the trained and untrained horses in companion studies using CT and radiography. RESULTS: The increase of bone density in the condyles of Mc3 in trained horses compared with untrained horses occurred, without prior osteoclastic resorption, via the deposition of new bone on pre-existing internal surfaces. Within prior marrow spaces of cancellous bone, there was also rapid formation of immature strands and fronds of bone which were more cellular and mineralised, and more lamellar bone tissue was deposited on these new scaffolding elements in the trained horses. Both resulted in increased bone volume fraction (BVF). The microscopic mineralisation density of the bulk of the new tissue was lower than in pre-existing bone, and CT and radiography underestimated the increase in BVF. The new tissue was thus probably less stiff at the microscopic scale than pre-existing bone, though its addition would stiffen the global structure. CONCLUSIONS: In Mc3 of all the trained horses, there were obvious differences in microscopic structure compared with those from the untrained horses. Moderate, industry-standard levels of exercise used to prepare young horses for racing induced the formation of new bone in non-bone spaces in bone tissue, such that the bone organ should better withstand later increased levels of exercise. 相似文献
