Plants were regenerated from protoplasts isolated from embryonic suspension cultures of N5047S, a photoperiod sensitive genic
male sterile (PGMS) Japonica rice line. Flow cytometric analyses of nuclear DNA content identified some tetraploid regenerates
whose agronomic traits could be distinguished from diploid regenerates. Pollen and female fertility of diploid protoplast-derived
clones grown under different light and temperature conditions was compared. A promising PGMS protoplast clone, ZAU11S, was
developed from these clones. Its male sterility was confirmed as a photoperiod × temperature interaction type.

Hydrological and water-quality measurements were made on a 44·3 ha watershed under forest cover and following deforestation and conversion to an agricultural land-use. Under secondary tropical rainforest, water yield ranged from 2·2 per cent to 3·1 per cent of annual rainfall. Deforestation of 7 per cent of the watershed area increased water yield to 7·0 per cent of annual rainfall. Baseflow increased with deforestation, and increased progressively with time after deforestation. It was 5·1 per cent of annual rainfall in 1979, 15·1 per cent in 1980, 16·4 per cent in 1981 and 17·9 per cent in 1982. In comparison, surface flow was 4·5 per cent in 1979 and 6·2 per cent in 1980, but decreased to 2·3 per cent in 1981 and 2·4 per cent in 1982. Total water yield following deforestation and conversion to agricultural land-use ranged from 9·6 per cent to 21·3 per cent of the annual rainfall received. The dry season flow decreased with time as the dry season progressed, but increased over the years following deforestation. Surface runoff during the rainy season depended on ground cover and soil quality. The extent and severity of soil degradation affected the dynamics of surface flow. Because of actively growing crops, plant nutrient concentrations in surface runoff were low. Forested lysimeters had higher seepage losses than cropped lysimeters, and the water-use efficiency was 1·9–3·6 kg ha−1 mm−1 for cowpeas compared with 6·1–11·0 kg ha−1 mm−1 for maize. The delivery ratio was high immediately after deforestation and decreased to a steady value of about 3·2 per cent within 7 years. Community structure of soil arthropods associated to Pittocaulon (Senecio) praecox was investigated in two sites with different vegetal cover in El Pedregal de San Ángel Ecological Reserve, South of Mexico City during thirteen-month period. The relationship of composition and abundance with soil variables was studied. A total of 101 483 specimens belonging to 28 taxa and 191 morphospecies were collected in both sites (Open site: Abundance: 60,369, 27 taxa and 181 morphospecies; Closed site: 41 114, 26 taxa and 179 morphospecies), the value of Shannon's diversity index was marginally higher in Closed site (H′ = 3.67) than in Open site (H′ = 3.59), according to a modified t-test for comparing indexes (t91418 = 9.6946; p < 0.001). Most abundant groups in both sites were Cryptostigmata and Prostigmata, with variations during the study period. The highest amount of specimens was recovered during the rainy season (May–October). The most abundant guilds recorded in both sites were predators, fungivores, detritivores and herbivores. The composition and trophic guilds of edaphic arthropods in the sites were affected by the microhabitat characteristics due to soil characteristics. According to a two-way ANOVA test, a significant effect due to site (F1,286 = 17.85, p < 0.001) and month (F12,286 = 22.68, p < 0.001) on the density of edaphic arthropods was recorded, but no significant differences in abundance were found when the interaction between both variables (F12,286 = 0.77, p > 0.05) was considered. The RDA shows that the soil variables explain 23.5% of the variation observed in the distribution of species, and that variation is related mainly to the presence of K, P, Na and Mg, and groups of predator arthropods are more related to the aforementioned variables, while detritivorous groups are more related to MO, N contents, relative humidity and pH. The microenvironmental characteristics recorded in both sites can explain differences in composition and abundance of soil arthropods. 相似文献

为研究连续两场次降雨过程中喷施不同剂量Jag C162对黄土坡面水流切应力的调控效应,在20°坡度,2.0 mm/min雨强条件下对裸坡和喷施Jag C162剂量为1,3,5 g/m2的坡面进行连续两场模拟降雨试验,主要结论有:(1)在连续两场降雨过程中,裸坡和喷施不同剂量Jag C162的坡面水流切应力随降雨历时的变化皆呈先增加后趋于稳定的状态,都可用对数方程描述,且喷施不同剂量Jag C162的坡面水流切应力皆比裸土坡面水流切应力小,喷施不同剂量Jag C162的坡面产流时间也均晚于裸土坡面产流时间;(2)在连续两场次降雨过程中,Jag C162具有减小坡面水流切应力的作用,且随Jag C162剂量增大,其对坡面水流切应力影响的持效性增强;(3)综合考虑Jag C162对坡面水流切应力调控作用的稳定性及持效性,建议在连续两场次降雨中采用剂量5 g/m2的Jag C162调控坡面水流切应力,以期达到控制土壤侵蚀的目的。 相似文献

Dendrogeomorphological analyses of trees affected by debris flows have regularly been used to date past events. However, this method has always been limited to forested cones where trees registered the impact of previous events. The minimum age dating of trees growing in the debris deposits can, in contrast, provide information on the latest possible moment of past activity. In this paper, we report on results obtained from a combination of these two approaches on a forested cone in the Valais Alps (Switzerland). A detailed geomorphic map in a scale of 1:1000 served as a basis for the sampling strategy. Disturbed Larix decidua Mill. and Picea abies (L.) Karst. trees growing in the deposits allowed reconstruction of 49 events between AD 1782 and 2005 as well as the determination of the spatial extent of events. In the debris-flow channels where survivor trees are missing, we selected the oldest post-event trees and assessed their age by counting their growth rings. Missing rings due to lack of center as well as to sampling height were added so as to determine real tree age. The combination of the dendrogeomorphological event reconstruction with the assessment of germination dates of successor trees allowed realistic approximation of the minimum time elapsed since the last debris-flow activity in 23 of the 29 channels present on the current-day cone surface. In general, channels in the northern part of the cone and those close to the currently active channel generally show signs of (sub-) recent activity with one last overbank sedimentation event in the 1980s, whereas signs of debris-flow activity are absent from the channels in the outermost part since the late 19th century. As a consequence of the deeply incised channel and the stabilization measures undertaken along the banks, signs of debris flows are missing in the tree-ring record for the past two decades. 相似文献

Soils with very slowly permeable fragipans and fragipan-like argillic horizons are extensive throughout the Palouse Region of northern Idaho and eastern Washington, USA. These soils develop seasonal perched water tables (PWTs) under the xeric moisture regime of the region. The objective of this study was to utilize a hydropedology approach to examine the linkages between fragipans, PWTs, and catchment-scale hydrological processes such as soil water storage, runoff, and lateral throughflow. A 1.7-ha catchment dominated by Fragixeralfs (Fragic Luvisols) was instrumented with 135 automated shallow wells to monitor PWTs. Soil water content was measured with water content reflectometry probes, and catchment outflow was measured with a flume. A 35 m × 18 m plot was isolated hydrologically from the surrounding hillslope using tile drains and plastic sheeting to measure perched water outflow. Results show that during the wet winter and spring months, the transition from unsaturated to saturated conditions is accompanied by changes in volumetric water storage of only 4–5%. PWT levels are at the surface of ∼ 26–45% of the catchment soils during periods of high rainfall and snowmelt, thereby generating saturation-excess surface runoff from hillslopes. Observed solute movement via subsurface flow is very rapid and ranges between 2.9 and 18.7 m d− 1 when PWTs are maintained in more-permeable Ap and Bw horizons. Subsurface lateral flow accounts for as much as 90% of the incident precipitation and snowmelt during early spring. Data indicate that the relatively shallow depth to the fragipans and high Ksat in surface soil layers combine to create a very flashy hydrological system characterized by considerable temporal and spatial variation in patterns of saturation-excess runoff. 相似文献
