Equine babesiosis is a tick-borne protozoal disease of horses caused by Theileria equi and Babesia caballi. The disease is endemic in most tropical and subtropical areas. The aim of this paper is to assess the antioxidant status, lipid peroxidation, and oxidation products of nitric oxide (NO) in horses and mules naturally infected with T. equi and B. caballi. East and Southeast Anatolian horses and mules living in rural region of the Eastern border of Turkey were used as the material for this study. These animals are used as pack animal (3–7 years of age). Infected animals were in acute or subacute infection period. In the current study, malondialdehyde (MDA), oxidation products of NO (nitrate and nitrite), serum glutathione (GSH), vitamin E, and retinol levels were analyzed in 58 equids (horse and mule) infected with T. equi and B. caballi as well as in 44 healthy equids. Compared with controls, the level of MDA and nitrate increased significantly (P < .01, P < .05, respectively), whereas GSH concentration and levels of vitamin E decreased significantly (P < .01). There was no significant change in the level of nitrite and retinol between two groups. The results of the current study suggest that in equids infected with T. equi and B. caballi, this alteration in the lipid peroxidation, oxidants, and antioxidants may be related to the host's defenses against parasitic infection and may play a central role in the pathologic conditions associated with babesiosis. 相似文献

Diazinon is an organophosphate insecticide has been used in agriculture and domestic for several years. Vitamin E (200 mg/kg, twice a week), diazinon (10 mg/kg, per day), and vitamin E (200 mg/kg, twice a week)+diazinon (10 mg/kg, per day) combination was given to rats orally via gavage for 7 weeks. Body and heart weights, malondialdehyde (MDA) level in heart tissue and ultrastructural changes in myocardial cells were investigated at the end of the 1st, 4th, and 7th weeks comparatively with control group. When diazinon-treated group was compared to control group body and heart weights were decreased significantly at the end of the 4th and 7th weeks. It was observed that, at the end of 1st, 4th, and 7th weeks there was a statistically significant increase in MDA levels when diazinon- and vitamin E +diazinon-treated groups were compared to control group. While at the end of the 1st week statistically significant changes were not being observed, at the end of 4th and 7th weeks statistically significant decrease was detected in MDA levels when vitamin E+diazinon-treated group was compared to diazinon-treated group. In our electron microscopic investigations, while vacuolization and swelling of mitochondria myocardial cells of diazinon-treated rats were being observed, swelling of several mitochondria were observed in vitamin E+diazinon-treated rats. AIM:To investigate clinical effect of tongxinluo capsule in treating stable angina pectoris patients,and its influence on endothelial function,superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA).METHODS:One hundred and twenty-four stable angina pectoris patients were divided into three groups,isosorbide treatment group (41 cases),tongxinluo capsule treatment group (40 cases),tongxinluo and isosorbide treatment group (combined treatment group,43 cases).The serum concentrations of nitric oxide (NO),endothelin-1 (ET-1),SOD and MDA were determined before and after treatment.The data in traetment groups were compared with that in normal control.RESULTS:The symptoms of 3 groups were significantly improved,and the total effective rate of tongxinluo capsule group and combined treatment groups were better than that in isororbide treatment group (85.00% and 88.37% vs 73.17%,P<0.05).Before treatment,the levels of serum NO and activity of SOD in angina patients were lower than that in control group.The serum MDA and ET-1 levels were higher than those in control.The levels of serum NO and SOD activity were increased remarkably after tongxinluo capsule or tongxinluo combined treatment.However,besides the concentration of NO increased after isosorbide treatment,the levels of serum ET-1 and MDA and SOD activity were not changed.CONCLUSIONS:The results suggest that tongxinluo capsule could effectively improve the symptoms of stable angina pectoris,and it is important for tongxinluo capsule to increase NO level and decrease ET-1 product,scavenge free radical and prevent lipid peroxidation. 相似文献

AIM:To examine the effect of cholecystokinin-octapeptide (CCK-8) on focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury and its underlying mechanisms.METHODS:By using the suture model of focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion, the effects of intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of CCK-8 and proglumide, nonselective CCK receptors antagonist, on the infarct size, regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF), and the levels of nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA) were observed in different brain regions of rats subjected to 1 h focal cerebral ischemia followed by 24 h reperfusion.RESULTS:(1) pretreatment with different doses of CCK-8 (0.3 μg,1.0 μg,2.0 μg or 4.0 μg) could attenuate the infarct size, but the statistically significant effects of CCK-8 were obtained only at the doses of 1.0 μg and 2.0 μg(P<0.05). The neuroprotective effects of CCK-8 were blocked by pretreatment with proglumide. Administration of proglumide alone could worsen the ischemia/reperfusion injury. (2) CCK-8 (1.0 μg) inhibited the increase in NO, MDA levels in the ischemic core, and also inhibited the increase in NO level in the ischemic penumbra. The rCBF in the CCK-8 group was significantly higher than the normal value at 24 h after reperfusion (P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:These results suggest that both endogenous and exogenous CCK-8 alleviate focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. 为明确干旱胁迫及复水处理对抗旱性不同小麦材料生理指标的影响,以抗旱型品种‘靖麦12号’与干旱敏感型品系‘皮麦’为材料,以正常水分管理作为对照,待小麦长至三叶期,采用干旱胁迫-复水法,取幼苗叶片测量过氧化氢酶、过氧化物酶、超氧化物歧化酶、丙二醛、脯氨酸、脱落酸、总抗氧化能力、可溶性蛋白、可溶性糖以及叶绿素等生理指标的变化情况。结果表明:抗旱型品种‘靖麦12号’与干旱敏感型品系‘皮麦’的保护酶活性、总抗氧化能力、可溶性糖及叶绿素含量均存在显著差异及极显著差异;干旱胁迫下,保护酶活性、脯氨酸、丙二醛、脱落酸、总抗氧化能力均呈上升趋势,可溶性糖、可溶性蛋白及叶绿素含量却明显降低;复水以后,保护酶活性、脯氨酸、总抗氧化能力、可溶性蛋白、可溶性糖含量明显降低,叶绿素、脱落酸、丙二醛含量明显上升;两品种/系的处理与对照间脱落酸、丙二醛含量不存在明显差异。在干旱胁迫和复水情况下,‘靖麦12号’表现出较高的酶活性和较高渗透调节物质且叶绿素含量下降缓慢,因此‘靖麦12号’具有较高的抵御干旱胁迫以及复水后的恢复能力,可作为云南地区重要的抗旱种质资源。 相似文献

The concentrations of anti-oxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and selenium-dependent glutathione
peroxidase (SeGPx), and low molecular weight free-radical scavengers such as reduced glutathione (GSH) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
were evaluated during the period from gastrulation (GS) to 25 days post-hatch (dph) in the larvae of Asian Seabass, Lates calcarifer. Oxidative damage due to lipid peroxidation (LPO) was also assessed, by evaluation of the formation of malondialdehyde (MDA).
All the three anti-oxidant enzymes, SOD, CAT and GPx, showed high activities during gastrulation, suggesting an increased
metabolic rate during the period of embryonic development. Though the SOD activity apparently decreased progressively during
3–20 dph of larval development, the difference was not significant. CAT showed high activity during gastrulation and remained
constant up to 3 dph, suggesting an increased need to metabolise hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and organic peroxides. In contrast, SeGPx activity increased progressively from 5 dph to 25 dph during larval development,
indicating an increased need to detoxify lipid peroxides. This is evident from the observation of increased lipid peroxidation
from 10 dph to 25 dph during larval development. GSH levels were low at gastrulation, indicating increased metabolic rate
and formation of lipid radicals during this period, corresponding to the decrease in the level of ascorbic acid, which is

为了解不同制粉方式对燕麦粉货架期的影响,以炒制燕麦粉、燕麦片粉、超微燕麦粉为研究对象,以脂肪酸值和丙二醛含量为评价指标,应用Arrhenius相关模型及热力学理论和统计学原理,比较了三种制粉方式生产的燕麦粉货架期。结果表明,三种燕麦粉的脂肪酸值和丙二醛含量均随贮藏时间延长呈上升趋势;50℃贮藏比40℃贮藏上升更明显,燕麦片粉上升的最快。燕麦粉发生氧化产生游离脂肪酸和丙二醛在40℃和50℃均遵循0级反应动力学,根据Arrhenius动力学模型和统计学原理,预测炒制燕麦粉、燕麦片粉、超微燕麦粉在常温(20℃)下的货架期分别为304d、140d、204d。 相似文献

[目的]探究水分对分蘖期不同薏苡品种叶绿素含量、POD活性及膜脂过氧化作用等的影响。[方法]采用防雨棚盆栽试验,模拟水分胁迫,测定薏苡分蘖期的叶片的叶绿素含量P、OD活性及MDA含量。[结果]水分降低对分蘖期不同品种叶绿素含量及POD活性的影响具有波动性,然而在土壤含最大毛管持水量的70%水分时,POD活性以及植株的生长情况均表现得比较显著,而MDA含量随水分的减少而递增。[结论]该研究为实现薏苡高产、优质、可控提供了条件,为GAP建立合理的灌溉制度提供了一定的科学理论依据。 相似文献
