High mean left atrial pressure (MLAP) due to canine degenerative mitral valve disease is associated with clinically relevant morbidity and mortality. The ability to noninvasively measure MLAP would assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Doppler echocardiography allows measurement of early transmitral blood flow (E) and the velocity of the mitral valve annulus (Ea). The ratio of early mitral inflow velocity to early mitral annular velocity (E: Ea) correlates well with MLAP in human subjects. We sought to determine the ability of E: Ea to predict MLAP in dogs with experimentally induced mitral regurgitation. Nine anesthetized purpose-bred dogs underwent placement of a Swan-Ganz catheter into the left atrium and recording of MLAP. Simultaneous transthoracic echocardiographic and hemodynamic studies were performed after acute chordae tendineae rupture and during IV infusion with nitroprusside (2.5-5.0 microg x kg(-1) x min(-1)) or hydralazine (1-1.5 mg/kg). Mitral regurgitant fraction, measured by single-plane angiography and thermodilution, ranged from 17% to 81%. MLAP increased from 5.4 +/- 2.5 mm Hg to 17.4 +/- 9.4 mm Hg after creation of mitral valve regurgitation (MR; P = .018). Forty sets of echocardiographic measurements were obtained from 7 dogs, and E, as well as E: Ea, were linearly related to MLAP. The R2 value for the linear regression equation containing E: Ea as the dependent variable (0.83) was greater than that for E (0.73). The 95% confidence intervals were calculated for predicting MLAP = 20 mm Hg from E:Ea, and E:Ea >9.1 or <6.0 indicated a 95% probability that MLAP was >20 mm Hg or <20 mm Hg, respectively. Echocardiography can be used to predict MLAP in isoflurane-anesthetized dogs with experimentally induced acute mitral valve insufficiency.  相似文献

Objective To detect and categorize time‐specific variations in daytime intraocular pressure (IOP) found in Rhesus monkeys with laser‐induced ocular hypertension. Procedures Ten male monkeys with argon laser‐induced ocular hypertension in one eye were anesthetized with ketamine hydrochloride, and the IOP measured in both eyes at 7 a.m., 7.30 a.m., and then hourly until 1 p.m. with a Tonopen? XL applanation tonometer. Intraocular pressure time profiles for both eyes in each animal were developed. The means ± SD of the IOPs for both eyes were calculated for the whole 6‐h study period, and the values compared statistically. The difference between the lasered eye mean IOP standard deviation and the normal eye mean IOP standard deviation for each animal during the 6‐h follow‐up was also calculated and compared. Results Mean IOP (± SD) in the glaucoma and normal eyes for the 10 animals during the 6‐h study was 32.6 ± 2.5 and 14.9 ± 2.5 mmHg, respectively. The IOP was significantly higher in the experimental eye than in the normal eye (P = 0.0008). The mean IOP in the lasered eye did not significantly change during the study period, whereas a slight but significant increase in IOP of the normal eye over the study period was recorded (P = 0.003). The variance in IOP in the hypertensive eyes was considerably greater than that in the untreated control eyes. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. the IOP declined in five eyes and increased in the other five eyes with laser‐induced ocular hypertension. Conclusions The time‐specific IOP variation pattern in the daytime in the laser treated eyes is significantly greater than the variation in the normotensive eyes. This shows that in order to detect statistical differences between IOP variations induced by an IOP‐reducing drug, and the exaggerated spontaneous IOP variations present in the laser‐induced hypertensive eye, sufficient animals should be included in any study. Understanding the time‐specific IOP variation present in a group of monkeys with laser‐induced ocular hypertension is essential prior to using the model for the evaluation of IOP‐reducing drugs.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to provide calibration curves for correcting intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements obtained using the Tono-Pen XL tonometer in cats, cows and sheep. Twelve eyes from 9 cats, 13 eyes from 7 cows, 10 eyes from 5 sheep were used. The anterior chamber of the eye was cannulated in vivo, in situ (immediately post mortem) or ex vivo with a fine needle and IOP was varied from 10 to 90 mmHg in steps of 10 mmHg by adjusting the height of a saline reservoir connected to the needle. For each pressure setting, several readings of IOP were made using the tonometer. The relationship between Tono-Pen reading and manometer setting was linear over the full range of measurement. However, the slope of the data regression line deviated significantly from 1 and indicated that the instrument systematically underestimated IOP. For cats the average slope was 0.62 and for cows and sheep it was 0.72 and 0.69, respectively. For the latter animals, the regression line also had a nonzero intercept of approximately 4.5 mmHg. Similar results were obtained from in vivo and ex vivo eyes and with different Tono-Pen XL tonometers. Although developed for use on humans, the Tono-Pen XL can provide reproducible and accurate measurement of IOP in cats, cows and sheep when suitably calibrated by manometry. The calibration curves provided here, and by implication those reported for other animals using this tonometer, differ in slope from those measured with earlier models of the Tono-Pen. The reproducibility of the curves we obtained implies that they can be used to correct IOP readings from the Tono-Pen XL when manometry is not possible.  相似文献

Objective This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of a new veterinary oscillometric noninvasive blood pressure (NIBP) monitor in anesthetized dogs. Study design Assessment was made to determine how closely indirect measurements were associated with direct measurements, and if there were statistically significant differences between the measurements by site. Animals Six mongrel dogs weighing 27.8 ± 2.9 kg. Methods Dogs were anesthetized with thiopental and maintained with isoflurane, which was delivered with controlled ventilation. Direct pressure measurements were obtained via a percutaneously placed arterial catheter. A range of systolic arterial pressures (SAP) were achieved by changing the isoflurane concentrations. Sites of cuff placement for indirect measurements were identified as metacarpus, metatarsus, and anterior tibial. Results At pressures below 80 mm Hg, indirect systolic measurements averaged 4 ± 3 mm Hg, higher than the direct values. At normal and high levels, indirect systolic measurements underestimated direct values by 18 ± 6 and 23 ± 6 mm Hg, respectively. Diastolic and mean pressure measurements followed the same trend, with indirect values being lower than the direct arterial pressures. Systolic, diastolic and mean arterial pressure measurements differed by cuff‐placement site. Conclusions When analyzed by site and level, indirect systolic and mean arterial blood pressures during hypotension were essentially the same as direct pressures. However, at pressures within the normal or high range, indirect measurements underestimated the direct pressures. Clinical relevance Noninvasive blood pressure measurements with a new oscillometric monitor provided an excellent means of detecting arterial hypotension in anesthetized dogs. The metatarsal site for cuff placement was slightly better than the metacarpal or anterior tibial site, considering that the regression line was closest to complete equality between the indirect and direct measurements for SAP.  相似文献

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PH) is a pathologic condition in dogs characterized by abnormally high pressures in the pulmonary circulation and has been associated with a poor outcome. Sildenafil is a type V phosphodiesterase inhibitor that produces nitric oxide mediated vasodilatation. Sildenafil treatment decreases pulmonary arterial pressure and pulmonary vascular resistance in people with PH. The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics and outcome of dogs with PH treated with sildenafil. The cardiology database was searched for dogs with PH treated with sildenafil. PH was defined as systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (PAPs) > or = 25 mmHg at rest. Medical records were reviewed for the following information: signalment, duration and type of clinical signs before treatment, underlying disease, estimated or measured PAPs, dosage and dosing interval of sildenafil, and the effect of treatment on clinical signs and pulmonary arterial pressure and survival time. Thirteen affected dogs were identified. Clinical signs included collapse, syncope, respiratory distress, and cough. Duration of clinical signs before presentation ranged from 3 days to 5 months. An underlying cause was identified in 8 dogs. The median sildenafil dosage was 1.9 mg/kg. Ten dogs received concurrent medications. Median PAPs was 90 mmHg; 8 dogs were reevaluated after therapy, and the median decrease in PAPs was 16.5 mmHg. The median survival time of all dogs was 91 days. Sildenafil appeared to be well tolerated in dogs with PH and was associated with decreased PAPs and amelioration of clinical signs in most. Sildenafil represents a reasonable treatment option for dogs with pulmonary hypertension.  相似文献

为了能够统筹安排宝鸡市的水资源,提高水资源的利用率,对未来区域经济发展中如何确保生态安全提出对策提供一定的参考依据,本研究结合宝鸡市12区、县水资源的现状,应用洛伦兹曲线的基本原理及基尼系数计算方法,对2009年宝鸡市的水资源与耕地资源、GDP和人口布局等的匹配程度进行分析。计算得到宝鸡市水资源与耕地资源、GDP、人口匹配的基尼系数分别是0.3527、0.4501、0.5472,可以认为宝鸡市水资源与耕地资源匹配较好,而与GDP和人口分布匹配却极不平衡。  相似文献

选取东疆兰新铁路沿线及周边8个气象站的大风资料,分析了东疆兰新铁路沿线近50a(1961-2010)大风日数的空间分布及其年、季分布特征,计算了50a一遇和100a一遇的最大风速和风压。结果表明:大风日数中心集中在"三十里风区"的达坂城地区和"百里风区"的十三间房地区,年、季变化明显;铁路沿线50a、100a一遇和实测最大风速与风压出现在十三间房地区。此外,还对东疆兰新铁路沿线的防风问题给予了一定的建议。  相似文献

温度、湿度、风速以及日照时间等对日蒸发量都有影响,利用视觉直观的散点图和定量化的相关系数对嵩山站与蒸发有关的这4个气象要素进行分析,得出对于嵩山站湿度和日照对蒸发量影响最大,温度次之,而风速无影响。其中只有湿度与蒸发量成负相关。  相似文献

结合大尺度环流背景、区域自动站实况资料、雷达基本反射率产品和径向速度产品、风廓线雷达产品,对2010年9月下旬上海一次层云降水过程进行中尺度分析。发现在此次层云降水过程中,近地面中尺度低压环流活动与降水强度变化关系密切。使用多普勒天气雷达径向速度产品和风廓线雷达产品,可以捕捉到近地面中尺度低压环流的活动,且与降水情况对应较好。  相似文献

作者通过对NCEP分析资料和台站年降水观测资料进行相互插值,分析和比较了两种资料的差异。并且对NCEP再分析资料和台站降水观测资料的相关性进行了分析。从结果可以看出,中国大部分地区NCEP年降水总量较观测值偏高。并且除青藏高原,西北地区,其它地区NCEP再分析资料和台站观测资料随时间相关性都较好。  相似文献
