In a growth chamber experiment, 70-day-old seedlings of 10 conifer species were inoculated with Colletotrichum gloeosporioides conidia to determine the host range of the fungus. Based on the percentage of seedlings affected and the disease severity on individual seedlings, the order of most to least susceptibility was: western hemlock (WH), mountain hemlock, western larch, Sitka spruce, Engelmann spruce, Douglas-fir (coastal form, then interior form), white spruce and ponderosa pine; lodgepole pine and western red cedar remained unaffected. Inoculation of WH needles showed that within 24 h C. gloeosporioides conidia germinate and appressoria (penetration structures) form. A growth chamber study demonstrated that the pathogen can infect WH at needle wetness periods as short as 15 min; number of needles affected was higher at 0.5 h, but did not increase further even when wetness was extended up to 8 h. 建立人工种群是保护荒漠珍惜濒危植物沙冬青、扩大沙冬青种质资源、建立种质基因库的根本途径。播种苗移植造林和直播造林是建立沙冬青人工种群的2种途径。在干旱沙区,如何提高移栽成活率是沙冬青移植造林中最大的技术难题,而直播造林往往受到土壤水分条件的限制。试验从两条途径入手,通过田间对比试验,探试了不同浓度的ABT生根粉(3号)、苗木截体处理和苗龄对沙冬青苗木移植成活率及其生长状况的影响,试验总结了在年降水量小于150mm的干旱沙区进行沙冬青大田育苗的各个技术环节,同时对沙冬青直播造林中种子处理、馅播技术和人工种群的抚育管理也进行了一定的试验和探讨。 相似文献

Four different kinds of water treatments were applied to study the photosynthetic eco-physiological characteristics of Taxodium ascendens seedlings in the environment of the Three Gorges hydro-fluctuation belt. The four kinds of water treatments were: normal
growth water condition (CK), light drought stress (T1), soil water saturation (T2), and soil submersion (T3). The results
showed that different water treatments could effectively influence the content of the photosynthetic pigment, leaf gas exchange
and apparent resources use efficiency of T. ascendens seedlings. It was also demonstrated that the T. ascendens seedlings could not only tolerate water submersion and wet conditions but also endure a certain degree of drought. To establish
a protection forest system in the hydro-fluctuation belt in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, the species T. ascendens is suitable for planting in conditions of root submersion or water-saturated soil. In case it is planted in drought conditions,
this tree species should be watered appropriately in order to keep its normal net photosynthetic rate.

Bareroot hardwood seedling production involves intensive soil management. To increase soil organic matter (OM), nurseries
commonly grow a cover crop for 1 year after every 1–2 year of seedling production. Raising soil OM levels can also be achieved
through addition of soil amendments. We studied the influence of chicken manure (CM) and composted leaf, tree, and lawn trimmings
(Cp) on soil properties and morphology of green ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica Marsh.) and northern red oak (Quercus rubra L.) seedlings. CM was applied at 725, 1450, or 2900 kg ha−1 (CM725, CM1450, and CM2900, respectively) and Cp was applied at 200 m3 ha−1. Addition of CM and Cp significantly raised soil OM levels and altered soil chemical properties compared to the control (Ctrl).
Root-collar diameter increased with addition of CM1450, CM2900, or Cp compared to CM725 or Ctrl plots for northern red oak,
but was largest in soils amended with CM2900 for green ash. Conversely, height was greatest with addition of CM725 for northern
red oak, but green ash seedlings were shorter in Ctrl plots than in all amendments except for CM725. Root volume of green
ash and northern red oak seedlings was positively influenced by addition of CM or Cp. Seedling responses to nursery soil amendments
vary with different forms and amounts of OM. Benefits to seedling growth through application of appropriate materials in the
proper balance can improve seedling morphological quality and positively influence soil chemical properties. 相似文献
