Two wide hybrids, Diplotaxis erucoides (2n = 14) × Brassica rapa (2n = 20) and B. maurorum (2n = 20) × B. rapa, were developed using the sequential ovary–ovule culture. Reciprocal crosses failed, possibly as a consequence of strong

Wild Lens species/subspecies are a potential source for increasing genetic diversity in cultivated lentil. Four intraspecific crosses were attempted between cultivated and wild lentils. Viable hybrids were produced between L. culinaris ssp. culinaris × L. culinaris ssp. orientalis and L. culinaris ssp. culinaris × L. culinaris ssp. odomensis. Normal meiosis and pollen fertility were observed in the first set of crosses, whereas chromosomal abnormalities and reduced pollen fertility were observed in the second set of crosses. These crosses were also studied for some quantitative traits. The range, mean and coefficient of variation were calculated in parents, F1, F2 and BC1 generations to determine the extent of variability generated in the cultivated lentil through introgression of genes from wild lentil. The cultivated lentil × L. culinaris ssp. orientalis crosses showed substantially higher variability for all the traits than crosses involving cultivated lentil ×L. culinaris ssp. odomensis. The results of the present study indicated that these wild subspecies can be exploited for breeding purposes and their variation can easily be utilized to widen the genetic base of the cultivated lentil. 相似文献

Attempts were made to produce hybrids among various Sambucus species in order to change the plant structure of S. nigra, a medicinal plant of increasing agricultural importance. The first successful genetic recombination, involving four species, was conducted after the introduction of S. javanica from a South Pacific island. A series of genetic analyses of the involved species and some relatives was performed in order to obtain reliable data on genetic similarity among parental species and to confirm the hybrid nature of putative hybrids. The nuclear 2C DNA content revealed by flow cytometry of nine species showed limited variation, the greatest being in S. nigra (28.6 pg) and the smallest in S. caerulea (23.9 pg). Maximum parsimony analysis of seven Sambucus species was used to form two dendrograms, one based on the sequenced nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the other based on the cpDNA trnT‐trnF region. The results showed similar clustering into distinct groups; on both dendrograms S. nigra and S. javanica ES were closely related. Analysis of hybrid origin was based on the sequenced cpDNA region, genome size differences and PCR–RFLP analysis of the nrDNA ITS region. The seed parent and maternal origin of cpDNA was confirmed for all hybrids, while the pollen parent was confirmed in 21 of 22 putative hybrid plants tested. 相似文献

The F1 AABBRHch hybrids studied here were produced by crosses between the Portuguese triticale cultivar 'Douro' (AABBRR) and the tritordeum line HT9 (AABBHch Hch ). Fluorescent in situ hybridization performed with genomic DNA probes genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) from rye and Hordeum chilense allowed the unequivocal parental genomes discrimination in all hybrids. Among 55 plants, one presented a spontaneous wheat–rye translocation which was successfully detected after GISH. Recombinant chromosomes identification was made after reprobe with pTa71 and pSc119.2. Nine rDNA loci were detected by pTa71 and pSc119.2 identified the chromosome arms involved in the translocation, after comparing the observed hybridization patterns with those described by several authors. We identified the spontaneous wheat–rye translocation as being the 7BS/7RL. Many wheat–rye translocations have been found (e.g. 1BL.1RS and 1AL.1RS), but as far as we know, this is the first time that this translocation is reported. We considered it helpful for wheat breeding programmes as it could provide the transference of interesting agronomic characteristics from rye (e.g. leaf rust resistance) to wheat. 相似文献

In Brassica oleracea, production of F1 hybrid seeds mainly makes use of the improved Ogura cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) line. However, reliance on one particular line is a risk, and it would be advantageous to develop other CMS lines. In this study, we transferred Diplotaxis erucoides cytoplasm to B. oleracea cultivars using an alloplasmic B. rapaCMS line as a bridge plant to avoid incompatibility between donor and recipient plants. The new B. oleraceaCMS lines, which were derived by four generations of backcrossing, had small rudimentary anthers with no pollen grain and showed complete male sterility. There was no functional defect in other floral organs, and the ability to receive normal pollen did not appear to be impaired. Moreover, the B. oleraceaCMS lines carrying D. erucoides cytoplasm had larger leaf areas and a normal plastochron. As a consequence, the B. oleraceaCMS lines carrying D. erucoides cytoplasm have the potential to be valuable alternatives for use in commercial B. oleracea hybrid seed production. 相似文献

Detailed karyotypes of Hydrangea macrophylla, Hydrangea paniculata and Hydrangea quercifolia were constructed on the basis of arm lengths and centromeric index, together with 45S rDNA fluorescence in situ hybridization. Although the chromosomes were small, they were well distinguishable for all species. Chromosome morphology and karyotypes were different for the three species. H. macrophylla had six metacentric (M), eight submetacentric (SM) and four subtelocentric (ST) chromosomes. The karyotype of H. paniculata contained seven M, 10 SM and one ST chromosomes and H. quercifolia had six M, 10 SM and two ST chromosomes. The variability among three species also was expressed by 45S rDNA signals. H. macrophylla had a nucleolar organizing region on chromosome 2, H. paniculata had 45S rDNA signals on chromosomes 2, 5 and 11 and H. quercifolia on chromosomes 3 and 8. Hybridization signal always was distally on the short arm but the strength of the signals was different for the three species. The chromosome portraits made in this study will be used to trace chromosome behaviour in interspecific hybrids resulting from breeding work between the three species. 相似文献

为解决城市绿地景观色彩单调、彩叶植物配置不合理等问题,在详细调查兰州市城市绿地彩叶树种资源的基础上,以兰州市近年来主要利用的21种彩叶树种为研究对象,对其的观赏特性及生态习性进行详细的观察与记录。同时选择13个重要评价因子,建立城市绿地彩叶树种综合评价模型,采用层次分析法进行观赏价值综合评价,并根据评价结果对其进行观赏等级划分,结果表明:(1)在13个评价因子中耐寒性、呈彩期、耐旱性和抗病虫害对观赏价值的贡献率较大。(2)综合评价等级分为3个等级,Ⅰ级(M≥80%),观赏价值高的种类,共计4种;Ⅱ级(79%≥M≥60%),观赏价值较高的种类,共计13种;Ⅲ级(M≤59%)观赏价值一般的种类,共计4种。(3)Ⅰ级的种类建议作为兰州市城市绿地规划的首选物种,Ⅱ级的种类建议在城市绿地规划中大量使用,Ⅲ级的种类建议根据实地情况,在特定条件下选用。 相似文献

The wild species, Capsicum buforum Hunz. and C. lanceolatum(Greenm. ex J.D. Sm.) Morton and Standl. were hybridized to nine different Capsicum species to understand their taxonomic and genetic relationships. With C. buforum as the male parent, the compatibility to the nine species varied from species to species and ranged from producing under-developed embryo, seed coat, seedless fruit, to no fruit set. When C. buforum was the female parent, it was incompatible (no fruit set) to the nine Capsicum species tested. When C. lanceolatum was the female parent, the hybridizations to the other species ranged from aborted embryo, seed coat, seedless fruit or no fruit. As a pollen parent, C. lanceolatum was incompatible (no fruit set) to the species investigated. In pollen mother cells (PMCs) of C. buforum, 24 chromosomes (n = 12) paired as 12 bivalents with chromosome lagging at meiotic anaphase-I. Twenty-six chromosomes (n = 13) were detected in PMCs of C. lanceolatum. In C. lanceolatum most chromosomes paired as bivalents, but one quadrivalent was observed in some cells. C. buforum was found to be self-incompatible, while C. lanceolatum was self-compatible. 相似文献

Summary F1 progeny from three classes of crosses were studied for indications of incongruity in the form of reproductive dysfunction. Percent fruit set was found to be approximately equivalent to the additive inverse of percent aborted flowers, as the effect of shot berries was small and not significant. In interspecific crosses, barriers were manifested as reduced fruit set and seed number per berry. These two characters were used to create an index of reproductive efficiency. Nine F1s from crosses of most divergent class, V. riparia × V. vinifera (R × V), displayed significantly tower reproductive efficiency, percent fruit set, and seed number per berry. Four female F1s from the least divergent class, V. riparia × V. riparia (R × R), had the highest reproductive efficiency, percent fruit set and seed number per berry, when pollinated by two V. riparia pollen sources. Seventeen F1s from the highly-intercrossed class, V. riparia × French Hybrid (R × FH), displayed intermediate levels of reproductive efficiency, percent fruit set, and seed number per berry. The R × FH class involved V. vinifera, V. rupestris, V. aestivalis, V. labrusca, V. berlandieri, V. cinerea, and V. riparia. It is proposed that the complex intercrossing in the pedigrees of the R × FH class ameliorated incongruity. In the most divergent class, R × V, progenies of one of the V. riparia parents displayed fewer incongruity effects than progenies of the other V. riparia parents.
