Mechanization of irrigated rice cropping regions in China

The mechanization of rice production in China has experienced a comparatively long and an undulating process. The full-scale making of mechanization of irrigated rice cropping regions was started at the mid 1960's, later than that of upland cropping and its average level of mechanization operation also lower than the average level of the country. During this peiod, however, a series of mechines were created, which adapted to the characteristics of rice cropping regions in China, and the foundation was laid for the later paddy field machinery. 一、作床 选择水源方便、能灌能排的地方，最好林阴地，尽量避开沙滩地，南北向或顺坡作浅畦床。畦床长、宽因地制宜，一般宽1．1～1．5米，深20厘米，畦埂（作业道）60～70厘米。畦面先浇一遍透水，然后喷500倍甲基托布津和敌百虫灭菌杀虫，最好在畦面铺编织袋，畦埂覆盖旧地膜，以免浇水、下雨、揭帘时耳片溅上泥沙。
