Discharge of aquacultural wastewater can lead to eutrophication and disruption of natural ecosystems in receiving water bodies. A controlled waste production strategy is necessary, therefore, in order to maintain sustainable aquacultural growth. Along with fertilisation, supplementary feeding is the major source of allochthonous matter in aquaculture and management of aquacultural waste, therefore, should be approached through diet formulation and/or feeding strategy. The introduction of highly digestible feed has reduced solid waste excretion, and further reductions can be achieved through careful selection of ingredients and processing to improve nutrient availability. Dissolved nitrogen waste can be reduced by ensuring a balance between protein and energy, such that fish use non-protein sources as energy, while phosphorous waste can be reduced through careful ingredient selection and processing to improve digestibility. Thermal and mechanical treatment of feed cereals prior to application can also help decrease the amount of poorly or undigested feed. Finally, feeding practices that minimise wastage should also be explored as they have a significant impact, not only on waste output but also on the overall economy of carp pond farming.  相似文献

A total of 150 nymphal Ixodes ricinus (L., 1758) (Acari: Ixodidae) from the Czech Republic were examined for Anaplasma phagocytophilum (Foggie, 1949) Dumler et al., 2001 by PCR using EHR521/747 primers: 22 of 50 pools were positive (minimum prevalence, 14.7%). However, sequencing of the PCR products did not show complete homology with A. phagocytophilum (91%) while the closest relationship (95%) was found to "Candidatus Ehrlichia walkefii". The results indicate a need for care in interpretation of Anaplasma PCR results and for PCR optimization for detecting A. phagocytophilum in ticks.  相似文献

Plant communities with Dwarf pine (Pinus mugo var. pumilio) form characteristic vegetation in the subalpine belt of the Giant Mountains (Krkono?e, Karkonosze and Riesengebirge, Czech Republic). This “island” of arcto-alpine tundra represents the northernmost edge of Dwarf pine natural range. We asked how concentration of sulphur in needles, growth, healthy status and fructification changed over three decades (1981–2011) with different air pollution in differently aged (45–120 years) autochtonous and allochtonous (introduced from the Alps) Dwarf pine stands. Different Dwarf pine stands above the alpine timberline were able to withstand 1980s, the period of heavy air pollution, without any decrease in growth rate or remarkable decrease in healthy status. Dwarf pine is thus highly tolerant to deposition of sulphur compounds. High concentration of SO2 in the air positively affected sulphur concentration in needles and eliminated thus sulphur deficiency. Higher germination rate of seeds in 2000s in comparison with 1980s indicate that the air pollution could decrease germination ability of seeds. High insect outbreaks (by Thecodiplosis brachyntera and Neodiprion sertifer) in 1990s and 2000s caused decrease in needle year classes. As there was a gradual increase in mean annual temperature over years 1981–2011, Dwarf pine stands can be more and more endangered by insect outbreaks in the future. There was no remarkable difference between autochtonous and allochtonous stands in all measured growth, healthy status and fructification characteristics. To determine real effects of air pollution and insect outbreaks on Dwarf pine stands from year to year fluctuations, decade-long monitoring is necessary.  相似文献

The relationship between seasonal agricultural drought and detrended yields (within a period from 1961 to 2000) of selected crops was assessed in the conditions of the Czech Republic, which are to some extent representative of a wider area of Central Europe. Impact of water stress was analyzed using time series of yields for 8 crops (spring barley, winter wheat, grain maize, potato, winter rape, oats, winter rye and hay from permanent meadows) for 77 districts in the Czech Republic (average district area is 1025 km2). Relative version of Palmer’s Z-index (rZ-index or rZ-i) was used as a tool for quantification of agricultural drought. The monthly values of the rZ-index for each individual district were calculated as the spatial average (only for the grids of arable land). The study showed that severe droughts (e.g., in 1981 and 2000) are linked with significant reduction in yields of the main cereals and majority of other crops through the most drought prone regions. We found a statistically significant correlation (p  0.05) between the sum of the rZ-index for the main growing period of each crop and the yield departures of spring barley within 81% (winter wheat in 57%, maize in 48%, potato in 89%, oats in 79%, winter rye in 52%, rape in 39%, hay in 79%) of the analyzed districts. This study also defined the crop-specific thresholds under which a soil moisture deficit (expressed in terms of rZ-index) leads to severe impact at the district level. This can be expressed as the sum of the monthly rZ-index during the period of high crop sensitivity to drought; for spring barley it is ?5, winter wheat ?5, maize ?9, rape ?12, winter rye ?10, oat ?4, potato ?6 and for hay ?3. The length of the sensitive period is also crop-specific and includes the months that are important for the yield formation. The results show that yields of spring barley (and spring crops in general) are significantly more affected by seasonal water stress than yields of winter crops and hay from permanent meadows. The study proved that a severe drought spell during the sensitive period of vegetative season does have a quantifiable negative effect, even within more humid regions. These results demonstrate that, at least in some areas of the CR (and probably most of Central Europe), drought is one of the key causes of interannual yield variability.  相似文献

The floodplain of the Morava River in Strá?nické Pomoraví, south-east Moravia, Czech Republic contains a very valuable record of regional environmental change, which goes back to several thousand years. Its interpretation has been limited by poor stratigraphic correlation and dating of the sediments. We present a geochemical solution to this challenge. We studied 8 outcrops of floodplain deposits from 4 localities along a 6 km long part of the current meander belt of the Morava River in Strá?nické Pomoraví using geochemical proxy analyses, magnetic susceptibility measurements, 14C dating of wood remnants, and sediment micromorphology. The proxy methods are based on elemental analysis (EDXRF) and analysis of the cation exchange capacity of clay minerals; granulometric analyses provided the basis for lithological and facies assignment of the sediments. Our geochemical and mineralogical interpretations have further been tested by microstratigraphically studying the optical properties of the fine fraction. Horizons older than about 3 centuries were 14C dated using wood remnants and the age of deposits from the last century was determined on the base of several proxies reflecting their industrial contamination by heavy metals and magnetic particles. The mean depositional rate over the period from about 1000 to about 1900 AD ranged from 0.2 to 0.6 mm y− 1, depending on the sedimentary facies. The coeval lithological change in the majority of the studied sections indicated a change of the meander belt structure at between ~ 1200 AD and ~ 1600 AD probably as a consequence of changes of channel structure. The alluvial deposition in the 20th century was strongly affected by the river regulation.  相似文献

Besides various physiological and biological indices, stress in fish can be expressed directly by changes in their behaviour. Electrofishing point sampling approach based on CPUE (catch per unit effort) was used to evaluate fish density (escapement) into the littoral zones of four Czech ponds as a reaction to the occurrence and hunting activities of great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis) flocks. The behaviour of two-year-old common carp (Cyprinus carpio) before and after cormorant arrival was compared. Significant differences (P < 0.001) in CPUE were recorded in fish density before and after cormorant arrival on all of four ponds under study—Žofinsky: 0.04 ± 0.18 and 22.38 ± 26.87 (mean ± SD), Stary Hospodář: 0.05 ± 0.29 and 25.49 ± 25.45, Žebrákov: 0.16 ± 0.57 and 28.58 ± 24.75 and Travičny: 0.03 ± 0.19 and 17.18 ± 18.20, respectively. The evaluation of fish wounding in the CPUE fish samples proved the proportion of fish injured by cormorant attacks ranging from 3.33 to 18.19% in the ponds under study.  相似文献

Summary All European species of the Pteromalid genusAnogmus Förster develop in cones of coniferous trees as parasites of Cecidomyids or, rarely, of some other insects. The paper brings a key to the species which have been taxonomically revised. All known data are reviewed. Five known species are associated mainly with spruce, while the sixth, a new one, comes from larch cones.
