Some adverse reactions such as shock-like reaction and dirofilarial hemoglobinuria (caval syndrome) occasionally occurred in microfilaremic dogs following milbemycin D (Milbe) administration. This study was carried out to seek the prevention of these adverse reactions. In two groups containing 16 and 9 dogs respectively which were administered either chlorpheniramine maleate (1 mg/kg) or indomethacin (2.5 mg/kg) simultaneously with Milbe (1 mg/kg), the incidence of clinical signs such as the pale color of the visible mucous membranes, respiratory disorders, caval syndrome and shock-like reaction as well as changes in clinical parameters such as RBC and WBC counts, WBC profile and serum total protein, were almost equal to that observed in the group administered Milbe alone. In 41 dogs administered prednisolone (1 mg/kg) simultaneously with Milbe (1 mg/kg), no shock-like reaction was observed. Changes in clinical parameters were different from those in the group administered Milbe alone, whereas some clinical signs of adverse reactions, including caval syndrome, were observed. These results indicated that prednisolone was effective for prevention of the shock-like reaction in microfilaremic dogs induced by Milbe. 相似文献

Five generations of Landrace pigs selected for average daily gain, backfat thickness, Mycoplasmal pneumonia of swine (MPS) lesion score, and plasma cortisol levels, was executed to decrease the MPS lesion score. Genetic parameters and correlated genetic responses for respiratory disease and peripheral blood immune traits were estimated in 1395 Landrace pigs. We estimated the negative genetic correlation of MPS lesion score with phagocytic activity (PA) at 7 weeks of age (‐0.67). The breeding values of PA at 7 weeks of age and 105 kg body weight and the correlated selection response of the ratio of granular leukocytes to lymphocytes at 105 kg body weight were significantly increased, and sheep red blood cell‐specific antibody production (AP) was significantly decreased in a selection‐dependent manner. Increasing of natural immunological indicators (e.g. PA) and decreasing of humoral immunological indicator (e.g. AP) were observed due to genetically decreasing MPS lesion score. 相似文献

The smell of food is one of the most important factors in assessing its quality. Concerning the smell of dried shiitake mushrooms [Lentinula edodes (Berk.) Pegler], 1,2,3,5,6-pentathiepane, commonly known as lenthionine, has been reported as a key compound. However, other compounds have not been studied sufficiently in connection with smell. From the results of sensory intensity studies and sensory evaluations of dried shiitake mushrooms, a positive significant correlation at 1% risk was observed between sensory intensity and sulfur perception. This showed that the smell of dried shiitake mushrooms was characterized by a sulfurous smell. Also, comparing the sensory intensity with the amounts of volatile components showed positive significant correlations at 1% risk between sensory intensity and three compounds: 1,2,4-trithiolane, 1,2,4,6-tetrathiepane, and lenthionine. Furthermore, significant correlations at 5% risk were obtained between the amounts of these three compounds and sensory intensity by multiple regression analysis. This showed that the smell of dried shiitake mushrooms depended on these compounds. The partial regression coefficient of 1,2,4-trithiolane was larger than those of the others, and so it was proposed that 1,2,4-trithiolane could serve as an indicator to estimate the smell of dried shiitake mushroom. 相似文献

Fine root dynamics and root architecture were studied in the organic and mineral soil layers of a Cryptomeria japonica plantation. Fine root biomass (<1 mm) showed seasonal changes whereas fine root biomass (1–2 mm) was unchanged over the study period. Root tips were grouped into size classes based on root tip diameter, including <0.5, 0.5–1, and 1–2 mm. Root tip density (<1 mm) was significantly correlated with fine root biomass (<1 mm). Root tip density and fine root biomass (<1 mm) increased in summer and decreased in winter, and both showed a similar seasonal pattern. Root tip dynamics influenced fine root dynamics. Root architecture as expressed by branching intensity changed with root tip production and mortality. Branching intensity also showed a similar seasonal pattern of root tip density dynamics. Root tips of both <0.5 and 0.5–1 mm were mainly produced in the organic soil layer, while root tips of 0.5–1 mm were mainly produced in the mineral soil layer. Because of the high RT1 root tip production in the organic soil layer, branching intensity was higher in the organic soil than in the mineral soil layer during summer. The long-term changes of the area of Sasa nipponica grassland, bark stripping damage to trees by sika deer, Cervus nippon, and sika deer densities on Mt. Ohdaigahara were assessed with aerial photographs, information from previous studies, and
field experiments. The grasslands expanded year after year. The expansion rate was highest from 1982 to 1992, and lowest from
1992 to 1997. Bark-stripping damage on coniferous trees was heavier than that on broadleaf trees in both the early 1980s and
1998. The deer density in the eastern part of the area had been high (14.4–64.3 km−2) from 1984 until 1998. We presume that rich growth of S. nipponica and heavy feeding pressure by sika deer over the long term caused expansion of S. nipponica grasslands by killing canopy trees by bark stripping and preventing forest regeneration. 相似文献

We developed a high-performance liquid chromatography-based method for simultaneous analysis of nine catechins, gallic acid, strictinin, caffeine, and theobromine in green tea by using catechol as an internal standard. Although the high cost and instability of the catechin reference standards limit the application of this method, the addition of ascorbic acid to the standard stock solution preserved the stability of the reference standards in the solution for 1 year when stored at -30 degrees C. Furthermore, we found that the slopes of the calibration curves plotted were stable for a run time of 2000 h. Our method proved to be appropriate for quantification and yielded good correlation coefficients, detection levels, repeatability, reproducibility, and recovery rates. Quantitative data revealed that the contribution of only 200 mL of brewed tea to the total dietary catechins was approximately 220-420 mg, while that of 500 mL of bottled tea was approximately 170-900 mg. 相似文献

Optimization of the solid-phase extraction cleanup procedure enabled the GC-MS analysis of acrylamide in tea samples without the interference of bromination by tea catechins. Although polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) is available for removing tea catechins from tea extract, the peaks derived from PVPP had the same retention time as brominated acrylamide in mass chromatograms obtained by GC-MS. A considerable amount of acrylamide was formed at roasting temperatures of > or =120 degrees C; the highest acrylamide level was observed when tea samples were roasted at 180 degrees C for 10 min. Higher temperatures and longer processing times caused a decrease in the acrylamide content. Furthermore, an analysis of 82 tea samples showed that rather than the reducing sugar content, the asparagine content in tea leaves was a significant factor related to acrylamide formation in roasted products. The acrylamide level in roasted tea products was controlled by asparagine in the presence of reducing sugars. 相似文献
