Seed exudates collected from three cultivars (cv. Hokkaikintoki, Himetebou, and Kurodane-kinugasa) of common bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were fractionated based on several physicochemical properties, and the nutrient substances in the fractions effective for Rhizobium proliferation were determined. Regardless of the common bean cultivars, the low molecular weight and high polarity fraction showed the most beneficial effect on Rhizobium proliferation. After further separation of the low molecular weight and high polarity fraction, the promoting effect was detected in the non-ionic and the cationic plus ampho-teric subtractions. Although the amount of sugars or amino acids exuded from a seed was, respectively, similar in all the cultivars except for the sugars in Kurodanekinugasa, the content of these compounds per seed-weight was inversely proportional to the seed size. Ten sugars and twenty-one amino acids were, respectively, identified in the non-ionic and cat-ionic plus amphoteric subtractions, and there were some differences in the composition of these substances between common bean cultivars. 相似文献

Sufficient rhizobium population in the rhizosphere of legume seedlings is required for early and enough setting of root nodules. Potential of seed and seedling root exudates for proliferation of Bradyrhizobium japonicum PNT119 was evaluated in the soybean cvs. Enrei and Tachinagaha. In both cultivars, seed exudates showed a higher potential than root exudates. In the seed exudates, a low-molecular high-polarity fraction including sugars and amino acids showed a higher potential than both high-molecular fraction and low-molecular low-polarity fraction. The correlations between the sugar or amino acid contents of seed exudates and the number of root nodule primordia at 7 d after sowing were investigated among 12 soybean cultivars. When seeds were inoculated with a low rhizobium density, a high correlation coefficient was detected between them. However, there was no positive correlation in the plants inoculated with a high rhizobium density. These results suggest that the amount of low molecular substances in the seed exudates determines the number of root nodule primordia through rhizobium proliferation around seed and young roots when the rhizobium density is the limiting factor. The genetic trait relating to seed coat secretion should be considered as a possible key factor contributing to adequate root nodulation in soybean seedlings cultivated in fields with a low rhizobium density. 相似文献

Cadmium (Cd) contamination in soils is a serious problem for crop production in the world. Zero-valent iron [Fe (0)] is a reactive material with reducing power capable of stabilizing toxic elements in a solution. In the present study, we examined the effect of zero-valent iron [Fe (0)] application on Cd accumulation in rice plants growing in Cd-contaminated paddy soils. The application of 1.0 and 0.5 mg Fe (0) per 100 g soils significantly reduced the Cd concentration in seeds and leaves by less than 10% and 20% of those without Fe (0) application, respectively. The form of Cd in soil was determined by sequential extraction. The Fe (0) application increased the free-oxides-occluded (less available) Cd content, and decreased the exchangeable and iron-manganese-oxides-bound (more available) Cd content, in Cd-contaminated soils. Thus, this study clearly showed that the application of Fe (0) is a promising approach for remediation of Cd-contaminated paddy soils. 相似文献

During the maturation of snake fruit (Salacca edulis Reinw) Pondoh, the contents of sucrose, glucose, fructose, and volatile compounds changed drastically. The glucose, fructose, and volatile compounds contents showed their maximum levels at the end of maturation; however, the sucrose content decreased. During maturation, the flesh firmness tended to increase; however, at the end of maturation (6 months), the flesh became soft. The major volatile aroma in solvent-assisted flavor evaporation (SAFE) and solvent extracts were identified to be methyl esters of butanoic acids, 2-methylbutanoic acids, hexanoic acids, pentanoic acids, and the corresponding carboxylic acids. Furaneol (4-hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-3(2H)-furanone) was also identified as a minor aroma constituent in the SAFE residue. The methyl esters were found to increase dramatically during stages 4-6 (5-6 months after the pollination) to exceed the amounts of carboxylic acids, whereas the acid amount increased gradually until stage 5 (5.5 months after the pollination) to reach the maximum at stage 6 (6 months after the pollination). 相似文献

We investigated the effect of poultry manure (PM) on the occurrence and early growth of Monochoria vaginalis in relation to soil solution electrical conductivity (SSEC). PM was applied at rates corresponding to 0 g of nitrogen (N) m?2 (PM-0), 1 g N m?2 (PM-1), 3 g N m?2 (PM-3), and 5 g N m?2 (PM-5). At 7 d post-seeding, the soil solution was sampled to measure EC, and also the emergence and growth of M. vaginalis were evaluated. The emergence rate of M. vaginalis decreased with increasing application rate of PM and SSEC. SSEC was significantly negatively correlated with the emergence rate of M. vaginalis seedlings. The average leaf number and length of M. vaginalis did not differ between PM-0, PM-1, and PM-3, but were significantly lower in PM-5. In summary, PM would allow to better control the emergence and early growth of M. vaginalis. 相似文献

Based on generalized linear models, interspecific interactions were identified between chum and pink salmon. In addition, the effects of sea surface temperature and location on the variability of catch per unit effort (CPUE) of chum salmon from gill‐net surveys carried out between 1972 and 2010 were investigated. In the optimal model, interspecific interactions between CPUEs of chum and pink salmon on a year scale were positive for approximately half of all years in the central Bering Sea. In addition, interspecific interactions on a multi‐year scale were positive in even‐numbered years. The effects of location on the CPUE of chum salmon were significant variables in the optimal model. The CPUEs of chum salmon located near the continental shelf in the Bering Sea were higher than those of other locations. This study provides new evidence of positive interspecific interactions between the CPUEs of chum and pink salmon. The results also suggest that the standardized CPUE of chum salmon from the gill‐net surveys reflects relative chum salmon abundance in the North Pacific Ocean in the following year. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: The Japanese mitten crab Eriocheir japonica is a common grapsid species found throughout freshwater and estuarine regions in Japan. In order to obtain information on the genetic variation and population structure of this species, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis was conducted on the cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) of mitochondrial DNA, on 666 individuals from 19 sample sites covering the three main geographic regions of Japan (Main Islands, Okinawa, and Ogasawara). Genetic analysis using seven restriction enzymes produced an array of 61 composite haplotypes. Three regional groups corresponding to the three geographic regions were clearly identified by cluster and molecular variance model ( amova ) analyses. Each of the three groups showed dominant haplotypes that were almost completely absent in populations from the other geographic areas. Comparison with published information for other species indicates that the degree of genetic divergence between these three main groups is equivalent to the genetic distance between congeneric species. Thus, the population structure of the Japanese mitten crab, as inferred from mtDNA analysis, is formed by genetically distinct groups that closely reflect their geographic distribution in the Japanese archipelago as well as restricted gene flow. 相似文献

Abstract: The community and trophic structures of the subtidal habitat of the abalone Haliotis diversicolor were examined in Nagai, Sagami Bay, Japan. Conventional community indices showed no significant differences among three sampling stations. The overall continuum of stable isotope ratios was structured into three different trophic linkages: (i) brown algae-dependent benthic food chain; (ii) red algae-dependent benthic food chain; and (iii) planktonic food chain. Brown algae and red algae likely play different roles with respect to carbon sources in the habitat. Conventional fractionation values indicated that the abalone H. diversicolor (δ13 C = −12.4 ± 1.0‰, δ15 N = 9.3 ± 0.5‰) feeds on the lamina of Undaria pinnatifida during juvenile and adult stages (8.0–65.6 mm shell length). Stable isotope signatures suggested that the juveniles of other abalone species as well as some amphipods and a sea cucumber Holothuria decorata are competitors of H. diversicolor , whereas some Muricidae gastropods such as Thais bronni and Ergalatax contractus are predators. The isotopic differences among macroalgal species and the subsequent transfer to consumers indicate that stable isotopic analysis is an effective means of studying food webs in an open rocky shore community with little influence from external primary production such as terrestrial vegetation. 相似文献

SUMMARY: Two feeding experiments were conducted to evaluate the feed quality of non-fish meal diets having the same protein ingredient composition but prepared as different types, and to determine the supplemental effect of crystalline essential amino acids (EAA) on feed utilization by young yellowtail, Seriola quinqueradiata . Non-fish meal diets formulated with soy protein concentrate, defatted soybean meal, corn gluten meal, meat meal, and krill meal were prepared as either soft dry pellets (SDP) or extruded pellets (EP) by using a large- or a small-sized twin screw extruder under different preparation conditions; or as a single moist pellet (SMP), each with and without EAA mixtures. Commercial yellowtail SDP was used as the control diet. Fish weighing 134 g and 237 g on average were reared with the experimental diets, for 93 (net cages) and 44 (aquariums) days, respectively. The fish fed both the control and test diets were found to have a good appetite. Growth rate and feed gain ratio were highest in the control diet group. The physiological condition of fish fed the control diet was evaluated as superior compared to those on the non-fish meal diets. Among the non-fish meal diet groups, the best performances were obtained for fish fed the SDP type diet with EAA supplement, and performance parameters excelled in the order of SDP, EP and SMP both among the diets with and without supplemental EAA. This suggests that the nutritional quality of non-fish meal diet was affected by the diet preparation method. It also indicates that supplementation of EAA could improve the quality of non-fish meal diets, irrespective of the diet type, probably as a result from the enhancement of feed protein utilization. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: Studies were conducted on growth and reproduction of the red frog crab, Ranina ranina (Linnaeus, 1758), in the Andaman Sea off Thailand from 1998 to 1999. Samples were collected from Ko Similan, Ko Surin and Thai-Myanmar boundary waters by gill net. Results showed that the relationship between carapace length (CL) and body weight (BW) for males (CL, 5.84–14.10 cm) was BW = 0.2598 CL3.0931 , and for females (CL, 5.35–10.97 cm) was BW = 0.4280 CL2.8656 . Growth in each gender showed allometric growth. The average CL of males was significantly larger than that of females. Average male and female crab sizes in 1999 were smaller than in 1998. The spawning season was found to be from November to February; maturing male crabs were abundant from September to December. Average sizes of CL at first maturity for males and females were 7.44 and 7.22 cm, respectively. Fecundity ranges of ovigerous female crabs were 74 600–167 900 eggs with an average egg diameter of 0.62 mm. The monthly sex ratios (male : female) varied between 1:0.56 and 1:2.77. 相似文献
