Some public areas in Japan such as parks and gardens can be highly contaminated with pigeon feces. We examined levels of four bacterial contaminations in fecal samples from feral pigeons in 7 prefectures. We isolated Salmonella Typhimurium and S. Cerro from 17 (3.9%) of 436 samples, as well as Mycobacterium spp. including M. avium-intracellulare complex from 29 (19.0%) of 153 samples. The polymerase chain reaction detected Chlamydia psittaci and C. pecorum in 106 (22.9%) of 463 samples, but E. coli O-157 was not isolated from any of the samples. Our results indicate that pigeon feces are a source of several zoonotic agents for birds, animals and humans.  相似文献

A 9-year, 7-month-old female German shepherd weighing 26.6 kg was admitted to the hospital for pica and diarrhea. A large mass was found in the right ovary and removed, and cross section of the mass revealed a multilobular tumor consisting of several cystic cavities which contained tufts of dark hair in thick creamy-white sebaceous fluid. Histologically, the tumor consisted of adipose tissue, central nervous tissue, crystalline lens, cartilage and bone. In the central nervous tissue, lens and lesions like nonsuppurative inflammation comprizing of accumulation of glial cells and lymphocytic perivascular cuffing were observed. The tumor was diagnosed as a mature cystic teratoma.  相似文献

Role of CXCR4 and SDF-1 in mammary tumor metastasis in the cat   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
It has recently been suggested that the chemokine receptor CXCR4 and its ligand SDF-1 (CXCL12) promote metastasis of various cancers in humans. Since feline mammary tumors also metastasize to distant organs frequently, we used real-time quantitative PCR to examine the expression of feline CXCR4 (fCXCR4) in ten feline mammary tumor cell lines and seven feline mammary tumor tissues, and also the expression of feline SDF-1 (fSDF-1) in various organs. Cell lines derived from metastatic regions expressed more fCXCR4 than those derived from primary tumors. Mammary tumor tissues overexpressed more fCXCR4 than normal mammary tissues. Organs with high levels of fSDF-1 expression represent common sites of metastasis. Migration assays using the feline mammary tumor cell line NAC were also performed to test the activity of TN14003 and TC14012, antagonists of human CXCR4, to antagonize fCXCR4 expressed on NAC cells. TN14003 and TC14012 inhibited migration of NAC cells. We conclude that fCXCR4 may be a therapeutic target for feline mammary tumors.  相似文献

To study effects of isoprothiolane and phytosterol on dietary fat necrosis, 3 groups of rats were fed hardened-tallow (HT) diet. Two groups of rats received either isoprothiolane (50 mg/kg) or phytosterol (20 mg/kg) orally once a day consecutively for 10 weeks. One group of rats received standard diet (CE-2) as a control. Fat necrotic lesions were observed in epididymal and perirenal adipose tissues from all rats in the 3 groups fed HT diet. Rats with fat necrosis were characterized by visceral type obesity and saturation in fatty acid composition of triglyceride in adipose tissue. The highest glucose conversion to total lipids was seen in adipocytes from the rats given phytosterol. There was no lipolytic response to epinephrine stimulation (1-100 microM) in adipocytes from the rats given only HT diet, while similar response of adipocytes from the 2 groups treated with either drug to those from the rats fed standard diet was observed. The levels of total saturated fatty acids of phospholipid in adipose tissue from the rats given either drug were lower than that of the rats given only HT diet. These data suggest that either drug alters fatty acid composition of phospholipid in fat cell membrane and enhances lipolysis of the cells.  相似文献

通过模拟运输振动实验研究了种植在不同土壤水分条件下草莓果实在贮运中的损伤易感性。试验结果表明,栽培在较高土壤水分条件下的果实含有较高的水分,贮运中果实损伤易感性与果实含水量、果实鲜重、土壤湿度呈显著或极显著相关。模拟振动实验发现:在高土壤水分条件下栽培的草莓果实在振动前、振动后及贮藏后的呼吸速率分别为生长在低土壤水分果实的124.9%、119.0%和133.2%。振动的果实比未振动的果实降低了28%-36%的蔗糖,增加了4.5%-9.8%的果糖和7.1%-10.1%葡萄糖,说明运输振动促进了蔗糖降解为葡萄糖和果糖的水解过程。  相似文献

Plants frequently accumulate or reserve some organic nitrogenous substances of small molecules, when supplied with inorganic nitrogenous compounds in excess. It is well known that rice plants in the field accumulate asparagine when supplied with ammonium salts in excess. This phenomenon is effectively utilized as a criteria for adequate supply of nitrogen fertilizers in the field (1). Accumulation of asparagine has also been generally recognized among seedlings of various plant species grown with excess ammonium, nitrate or urea (2). With rye grass, glutamine was reported to be accumulated in leaves and sometimes excreted when ammonium sulfate was supplied in excess (3). Arginine is a major free amino acid accumulating in nitrogen fertilized apple trees (4), phosphate-deficient mulberries (5), and potassium deficient rice plants (6). Allantoin is known to be a reserve form of nitrogen in some families of higher plants, notably the Aceraceae, Leguminosae and Boraginaceae (7,8). Thus the form of reserve nitrogen compound differs with different plant species.  相似文献

The interactions of tumor cells with the extracellular matrix (ECM) are a crucial step in invasion and metastasis. Integrins are adhesive molecules forming heterodimers with alpha and beta subunits that play a definitive role in these interactions. In this study, mastocytoma (mast cell tumor: MCT) cell-ECM interaction was investigated using 3 canine MCT cell lines: CM-MC (originating from cutaneous MCT), VI-MC (originating from intestinal MCT), and CoMS (originating from oral MCT). Flow cytometric analysis showed that all cells highly expressed the integrin beta1 and alpha1 through alpha5 subunits and that they moderately expressed the alpha6 subunit. In adhesion studies, CoMS weakly but spontaneously adhered to fibronectin (FN), which was enhanced by phorbol ester (TPA), while CM-MC and VI-MC required cell activation by TPA to adhere to FN. Anti-beta1 and alpha5 integrin antibodies strongly inhibited cell adhesion to FN in CM-MC and CoMS and moderately inhibited cell adhesion in VI-MC. Only VI-MC adhered to laminin (LN) under activation by TPA. Anti-beta1 integrin antibodies strongly inhibited cell adhesion to LN, but all anti-alpha integrin antibodies failed to inhibit cell adhesion to LN. No cells adhered to collagen types I and IV. Canine MCT cells from different origins expressed similar integrin patterns; however, there were some differences in adhesive behavior in response to various ECM proteins and activating stimuli.  相似文献

Tumor-initiating cells (TICs) or cancer stem cells (CSCs), a small subset of tumor cells, are involved in tumor initiation, progression, recurrence and metastasis. In human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), TICs are enriched with cell surface markers and have the ability to self-renew and differentiate tumors at a high frequency. We established a canine HCC cell line, HCC930599, and analyzed it for stem and progenitor cell marker expression using flow cytometry. HCC930599 showed high CD44 and CD29, moderate CD90, and low CD133, CD34, CD24, CD117, and CD13 expression. CD90+CD44+ and CD90CD44+ cells were characterized using the in vitro sphere assay and an in vivo transplant model. CD90+CD44+ cells acquired enhanced self-renewal capacity, proliferative activity and tumourigenicity compared with CD90CD44+ cells, suggesting that TICs exist in the HCC930599 cell line and that CD90 is a marker for enriched TICs. Understanding TIC characteristics may help elucidate hepatic carcinogenesis and HCC therapy development.  相似文献
