Despite its common occurrence, the aetiology of chronic gingivostomatitis in cats remains uncertain. Aetiology is likely multifactorial, and several infectious agents may be associated with chronic gingivostomatitis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of feline calicivirus (FCV), feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline leukemia virus (FeLV), feline herpesvirus (FHV), and Bartonella henselae (B. henselae) in cats with chronic gingivostomatitis and in an age-matched control group. In addition, other factors, e. g., environmental conditions were investigated. In 52 cats with chronic gingivostomatitis and 50 healthy age-matched control cats, the presence of FCV ribonucleic acid (RNA), and FHV deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) (polymerase chain reaction [PCR] from oropharyngeal swabs), and B. henselae DNA (PCR from oropharyngeal swabs and blood), as well as FeLV antigen (serum), and antibodies against FCV, B. henselae, and FIV (serum) were examined. FCV RNA was significantly more common in cats with chronic gingivostomatitis (53.8%, p < 0.001) than in controls (14.0%); a significant difference was also found in the prevalence of antibodies to FCV between the cats with chronic gingivostomatitis (78.8%, p = 0.023) and controls (58.0%). Of the other infectious agents investigated, there was no significant difference in the prevalence between the cats with chronic gingivostomatitis and the controls. The results of this study allow the conclusion that FCV, but no other infectious agents, is commonly associated with chronic gingivostomatitis in cats. 相似文献

AbstractDespite the importance of nitrogen (N) supply to plants, there are still doubts concerning the optimal relations of ammonium and nitrate in the nutrition of yellow passion fruit seedlings. This study aims to evaluate the interaction between nitrogen concentrations and ammonium and nitrate proportions in the nutrition, growth, and dry matter production of passion fruit seedlings grown in a substrate with a nutrient solution. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in randomized complete block design with three replications in a 4 × 5 factorial design, consisting of four N concentrations (2.5, 5.0, 10.0 and 20.0?mmol L?1) and five ammonium proportions (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% in relation to the total N supply). At 60?days after transplanting, green color index; accumulation of N, potassium, calcium, and magnesium in roots and shoots; stem diameter; leaf area; root length; nitrogen use efficiency (NUE); and dry matter of roots and shoots were evaluated. For the formation of seedlings of yellow passion fruit, the nutrient solution should have 13?mmol L?1 of N, with 40% of this nutrient in the form of ammonium. The passion fruit is a plant tolerant to ammonium. However, a critical concentration above 5.7?mmol L?1 of NH4+ in the nutrient solution decreases absorption of cations, NUE, and production of dry matter. 相似文献

Murta (Ugni molinae Turcz.) is an evergreen shrub of the native forest understorey of southern Chile that produces berries which are consumed
in the local markets. Because of the natural adaptation of murta to growing under the shade of trees, we propose that an adequate
way of domesticating this species would be its cultivation in agroforestry systems. In order to assess the suitability of
three murta accessions from different regions in southern Chile for their cultivation in such systems, we established a trial
in which these accessions were submitted to six light transmittance levels (20%–100% of full solar irradiance) from planting
in spring to the following autumn. Optimum growth, as assessed through dry mass accumulation and emission of branches and
metamers, was achieved at moderate light transmittance levels (50%–65%). These growth traits showed stable positive responses
to the relative amount of light intercepted by the plants (as estimated from plant structural traits) up to these optimum
light transmittance levels and diverged to lower values thereafter. These stable relationships suggest that the differences
in plant growth at low and moderate light transmittance levels can be attributed to restrictions of photosynthesis by light
availability. The reduction in growth for higher light transmittance levels may be partly attributed to photoinhibition as
suggested by reduced chlorophyll content and relatively low increments in carotenoid content in leaves at high light transmittance

本文根据联合国粮农组织(FAO)和国际应用系统分析研究所(IIASA)基于中国1961~1997年的统计资料(经多方校正)共同开发的AEZ模型,运用G IS平台计算了中国41个农作制亚区的水稻生产潜力,并指出了单产最高潜力分布区域。研究结果表明:我国水稻的最高产量潜力大约将是目前产量的2倍。这对我国水稻高产育种及栽培具有重要参考意义。 相似文献

Summary In recent years, the rapid development of somatic cell genetics has made possible the transfer of alien genes over wide taxonomic distances by somatic hybridization. In this review, the potential of somatic hybridization in the breeding of crops within the Brassicaceae, Fabaceae, Poaceae and Solanaceae is discussed. It is evident from these studies that many hybrids, either symmetric or asymmetric, which are fertile have the potential to be used as a bridge between the alien species and the crop. Progeny analysis of some hybrid combinations also reveals intergenomic translocations which may lead to the introgression of the alien genes. Furthermore, fusion techniques enable the resynthesis of allopolyploid crops to increase their genetic variability and to restore ploidy level and heterozygosity after breeding at reduced ploidy level in polyploid crops. 相似文献

Bacterial contamination of fresh tomato fruits is of great concern. From naturally infected tomato fruits showing dark brown
irregularly shaped spots, 36 bacterial isolates were recovered and identified on phenotypic characteristics and sequences
of the gene encoding the 16S rRNA. Five isolates showing spots on tomato fruits in the pathogenicity test with healthy tomato
fruits belong to the genus Serratia on the basis of phenotypic characteristics. One representative isolate of these has been further identified as a Serratia rubidaea by sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene. This is the first evidence showing that a S. rubidaea strain can cause spots on tomato fruits. Virulence of the S. rubidaea was also confirmed by the production and secretion of a large variety of enzymes capable of degrading the complex polysaccharides
of the plant cell wall and membrane constituents. Nineteen bacterial isolates of the 36 did not induce any spot symptoms in
a pathogenicity test on artificially infected tomato fruits although these are known as phytopathogenic bacteria. Five of
these 19 bacterial isolates were identified as Ralstonia species on the basis of biochemical tests. Sequencing of the 16S ribosomal gene of one representative isolate revealed that
the isolate is closely related to Ralstonia solanacearum. Six isolates of the 19 were related to Xanthomonas vesicatoria on the basis of biochemical tests and eight were related to the Enterobacteriaceae. One representative isolate of the Enterobacteriaceae could be identified by the 16S rRNA gene as Enterobacter cloacae subsp. dissolvens. The 12 other strains were related to Proteus mirabilis based on the 16S RNA gene sequence of one representative isolate. The isolates related to P. mirabilis did not produce any symptoms on artificially infected tomato fruits. The nucleotide sequences of S. rubidaea strain E9, E. cloacae strain E23, P. mirabilis strain E11, and R. solanacearum strain E15 have been deposited in the GenBank nucleotide sequence database under accession numbers HM585373 to HM585376. 相似文献

The rhizomes of Peucedanum ostruthium (L.) Koch (masterwort) are traditionally used in the alpine region as ingredient of liqueurs and bitters, and as a herbal drug. A sensitive and specific high-performance liquid chromatography-diode-array detection-mass spectrometry (HPLC-DAD-MS) method has been developed for the simultaneous identification and quantification of its main coumarins, oxypeucedanin hydrate, oxypeucedanin, ostruthol, imperatorin, osthole, isoimperatorin, and ostruthin. Fast HPLC separation could be achieved on an Acclaim C18 column (150 mm × 2.1 mm i.d., 3 μm) using a mobile phase gradient of acetonitrile-water modified with 0.01% acetic acid. The quantification by HPLC-DAD was performed with imperatorin as external standard and validated to demonstrate selectivity, linearity, precision, and accuracy. The content of the main coumarins was quantitated in various batches of commercial and field-collected rhizomes of Peucedanum ostruthium, as well as in beverages prepared thereof. 相似文献
