Two Safflower (Carthamus tinctoriusL.) cultivars' seeds were used to study the influence of inoculation with mycorrhiza arbuscular fungi under salinity stress condition. Factorial experiment based on completely randomized design (three-way analysis of variance (ANOVA)) with 3 replications was used. Salinity treatment with 3 levels (0.5, 6, and 12 dS/m) and mycorrhizal arbuscular inoculation with two species (three levels consist of non-inoculation, and inoculation with Glomus intraradices and G. moseae) were applied on two cultivars of safflower (Goldasht and Padide) in this experiment. Some important biochemical, mineral, and growth traits were measured in this study. Salinity had a significant negative effect on all growth and morphological parameters including shoot and root dry weight, stem and root height. On the other hand, colonized plants showed better growth parameters under saline conditions compared with the control. The colonization of both mycorrhizal species decreased with salinity. Sugar and pigment content decreased with salinity, but their levels in colonized plants under saline conditions were higher than that in non-colonized plants. Mineral elements including phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N), and magnesium (Mg) were higher in colonized plants, while salinity decreased the absorption of these elements in both inoculated and non-inoculated plants. Higher activity of the enzymatic antioxidant means higher removal of these compounds and higher resistance to stress condition. Overall, it is clear that salinity had a negative effect on both cultivars of safflower, but these negative effects were lower in inoculated plants than in the non-inoculated ones; so, the use of mycorrhizal inoculation is a proper way to control the effect of salinity and maintain plant production. 相似文献

The characterization of plant genetic resources is the first step towards improving their use. The Spanish Plant Genetic Resources
Centre, which belongs to the National Institute for Agricultural and Food Technology Research (CRF-INIA), conserves accessions
of wild underground vetches collected in Spain. In the present work, 26 underground vetch accessions were characterized in
terms of their seed storage proteins (separated by SDS-PAGE) as a means of assessing the genetic variation of these plants
and their agronomic value. Vicia sativa cv. Vereda was used as control. A total of 54 bands were detected, of which 49 were polymorphic. Fifty eight different electrophoretic
patterns were observed in total. Protein bands were scored in terms of their presence (1) or absence (0) for all the seeds
studied, and two matrices constructed, one with all the bands present in each accession, the other with the different patterns
for each accession. Dendrograms based on the Jaccard similarity index and the UPGMA clustering method were produced from these
matrices, and the degree of genetic variation between and within accessions was calculated. The groups obtained were compared
with the chromosome number for each accession. The results reflect the great diversity of underground vetch seed storage proteins.
The aerial and underground seeds of 16 accessions were then analysed separately. In some cases, the aerial and underground

The organic acids and phenolics compositions of nine wild edible mushrooms species (Suillus bellini, Tricholomopsis rutilans, Hygrophorus agathosmus, Amanita rubescens, Russula cyanoxantha, Boletus edulis, Tricholoma equestre, Suillus luteus, and Suillus granulatus) were determined by HPLC-UV and HPLC-DAD, respectively. The antioxidant potential of these species was also assessed by using the DPPH* scavenging assay. The results showed that all of the species presented a profile composed of at least five organic acids: oxalic, citric, malic, quinic, and fumaric acids. In a general way, the pair of malic plus quinic acids were the major compounds. Only very small amounts of two phenolic compounds were found in some of the analyzed species: p-hydroxybenzoic acid (in A. rubescens, R. cyanoxantha, and T. equestre) and quercetin (in S. luteus and S. granulatus). All of the species exhibited a concentration-dependent scavenging ability against DPPH*. T. rutilans revealed the highest antioxidant capacity. 相似文献

Azima tetracantha L. (needle bush; bee sting bush; Salvadoraceae) is used as a food and for various herbal medicines in Africa, India, and Madagascar, but there is very little information on the secondary metabolites in this species. High concentrations of N-methoxy-3-indolylmethyl-glucosinolate, a common glucosinolate of Brassica crops such as Brussels sprouts and broccoli, were found in the roots and seeds of A. tetracantha. Lower concentrations were detected in the stems and young leaves. The roots also contained another indole glucosinolate that was provisionally identified, from MS data and comparison with indole glucosinolate standards, as N-hydroxy-3-indolymethyl-glucosinolate. The roots, stems, and leaves contained neoascorbigen (the condensation product of N-methoxy-indole-3-carbinol and ascorbic acid). The seeds of A. tetracantha contained a complex mixture of 26 flavonoids predominantly as glycosides and acyl-glycosides, with traces of aglycones. The core aglycones of these flavonoids were identified as quercetin, isorhamnetin (3'-O-methylquercetin), rhamnetin (7-O-methylquercetin), and rhamnazin (7, 3'-di-O-methylquercetin). No flavonoids or anthocyanins were detected in other tissues, and procyanidins were undetectable. The link between buffer capacity and the ability of clays to retain Pb in interactions between Pb contaminant leachate and the clays, has been studied, using a natural clay from Quebec and laboratory-prepared clays (kaolinite, illite, and smectite). The retention of Pb in the clay suspensions as they received increasing amounts of acid was investigated, and the results examined in terms of the buffer capacity of the clays. As the clays receive increasing amounts of acid (e.g. akin to addition of acid leachate), high amounts of Pb can be retained if the buffer capacity prevents the pH from dropping to values where precipitation mechanisms are not operative. The high carbonate content in the illite gave it a higher buffer capacity than the smectite and natural clay, and permitted it to retain high amounts of Ph. High Pb uptake by the clays can affect the buffer capacity and the Pb retention capacity. 相似文献

This study was carried out to estimate the level of diversity existing within some common bean landraces still cultivated
in Nebrodi mountains, North-western area of Sicily. The multidisciplinary approach adopted to reach this goal involved the
characterisation of collected material through morphological, biochemical and molecular marker analyses. The nutritional quality
of seeds was also investigated in view of the proposition of the best landraces as niche products. Results showed that those
bean landraces retain a considerable level of heterogeneity. The use of both biochemical and molecular markers showed that
all landraces clustered into two main groups, corresponding to the Andean and Mesoamerican gene pools. Our results suggest
that the best strategy for preserving the diversity of common bean from a restricted area such as Nebrodi mountains, necessitates
of a deep knowledge of germplasm to avoid the loss of precious genetic resources or, on the contrary, the safeguard of populations

In wheat, the increase of yield and stability associated traits can be achieved by combining parents containing the stay-green trait and favorable alleles for grain yield. The aim of this work was to analyze the genetic dissimilarity between wheat lines from stay-green and synchronized maturation groups and elite cultivars. Moreover, to propose promising combinations seeking the selection of high-grain yield and high bread-making quality genotypes containing stay-green trait. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with three replications in 2003, 2004, and 2005, using sister-lines with the presence and absence of stay-green trait and elite cultivars. Genetic variability exists among wheat strains from the synchronized stay-green maturation group and elite cultivars. Genotypes of maturation group stay-green obtained an average performance superior to the synchronized group. Crosses between stay-green lines and the CEP 29 and BRS 177 cultivars are promising in the selection of genotypes carrying the stay-green trait with high yield and bread-making quality. 相似文献
