An accurate estimation of crop evapotranspiration (ET c) is very useful for appropriate water management; hence, an accurate and user-friendly model is needed to support related irrigation decisions. In this view, a study was developed aimed at estimating the ET c of winter wheat–summer maize crop sequence in the North China through eddy covariance measurements, to calibrate and validate the SIMDualKc model, to estimate the basal crop coefficients (K cb) for both crops and to partition ET c into soil evaporation and crop transpiration. Two years of field experimentation of that crop sequence were used to calibrate and validate the SIMDualKc model and to derive K cb using eddy covariance measurements. Various indicators have shown the goodness of fit of the model, with estimated values very close to the observed ones and estimate errors close to 0.5 mm d?1. The initial, mid-season and end basal crop coefficients for wheat were 0.25, 1.15 and 0.30, respectively, and those for maize were 0.15, 1.15 and 0.45, thus close to those proposed in FAO56 guidelines. The soil evaporation represented near 80 % of ET c for the initial stages of winter wheat and summer maize and decreased to only 5–6 % during the mid-season period. Evaporation during the full crop season averaged 28 % for winter wheat and 40 % for summer maize. The importance of wetting frequency and crop ground coverage in controlling soil evaporation was evidenced.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The present work was designed to analyze cadmium (Cd) accumulation in Pisum sativum L. plants in a late stage of development, after an exposure to environmentally relevant Cd concentrations of 1, 3, and 30 μ mol L? 1 Cd. Cadmium exposure increased metal and thiol accumulation, not only in roots but also in the aerial organs of the plants. Nonetheless, except for the highest Cd exposure, plants did not show any evidence of Cd toxicity symptoms. Roots were found to be the main organs for Cd accumulation, but seeds also retained Cd, accumulating up to 2 μ g Cd g fw? 1. The parameters related to reproduction, such as anthesis and fruit development, were more sensitive to incipient degrees of stress than the biomass gain itself. When compared to previous works using hydroponic cultures, our results evidenced striking differences in Cd and thiol accumulation, suggesting the importance of using more realistic conditions in Cd-stress studies. The analysis of Cd retention in fruits demonstrated that, even at the lower exposure, Cd levels were higher than those allowed for human consumption, hence posing a serious risk of food-chain transfer and confirming the need for more studies on Cd accumulation in contaminated soils.  相似文献

Biofertilizers instead of synthetic chemicals are known to improve plant growth through the supply of plant nutrients and they may help sustaining environmental health and soil productivity. An experiment was carried out to evaluate fruit yield and macronutrient foliar contents of yellow passion fruit plants (Passiflora edulis) as a function of biofertilizers and nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (N-P-K) fertilizing in Brazil (2005–2007). The experimental design was randomized in blocks with treatments, which were distributed in a factorial arrangement (3 × 2) referring to biofertilizer application [without biofertilizer, simple biofertilizer and enriched biofertilizer] and mineral fertilizing with NPK (fertilized and non-fertilized), with three replications of nine plants. Nutritional status of yellow passion fruit is affected by biofertilizer. Simple biofertilizer promotes optimum supplies of phosphorus, calcium and sulfur, while enriched biofertilizer promotes optimum supplies of phosphorus, potassium, calcium and sulfur. Both biofertilizers stimulated fruit yield, with results above Brazilian average.  相似文献

In the present experiment, we studied the interaction between copper (Cu) and iron (Fe) in strawberry plants grown in nutrient solutions containing different concentrations of Fe. Plants grown in the absence of iron (Fe0) had the characteristic symptoms of Fe deficiency, with smaller chlorotic leaves, less biomass, acidification of the nutrient solution, and roots that were smaller and less ramified, while no symptoms of Fe deficiency were observed in plants grown with Fe. A greater amount of Cu was found in roots of chlorotic plants than in those grown with Fe, while plants grown with 20 μM of Fe (Fe20) in the nutrient solution had a greater amount of Fe compared with plants from the other treatments. Chlorotic plants (Fe0) and plants grown with the greatest level of Fe (Fe20) had a greater root ferric chelate reductase (FC-R; EC 1.16.1.17) activity compared with the other treatments with 5 or 10 μM Fe in the nutrient solution. The same pattern was obtained for relative FC-R mRNA concentration and for the sum of Fe and Cu contents in shoots (leaves plus crowns). The DNA obtained from amplification of the FC-R mRNA was cloned and several of the inserts analysed by single strand confirmation polymorphism (SSCP). Although there were different SSCP patterns in the Fe20 treatment, all the inserts that were sequenced were very similar, excluding the hypothesis of more than one FC-R mRNA species being present. The results suggest that Cu as well as Fe is involved in FC-R expression and activity, although the mechanism involved in this regulation is unknown so far. Both small contents of Fe and Cu in plants led to an over-expression of the FC-R gene and enhanced FC-R activity in strawberry roots.  相似文献

Abstract

Iron (Fe) deficiency is a nutritional disorder in plants. Poncirus trifoliata is susceptible to Fe deficiency, but symptoms of Fe deficiency are rare in Ceratonia siliqua, a slow-growing species. Specimens of the two species were grown in nutrient solutions containing three Fe concentrations: without Fe (0?µM), 1?µM Fe, and either 10?µM Fe (for Ceratonia) or 40?µM Fe (for P. trifoliata). Growth, the degree of chlorosis, the plant mineral composition, and the activity of the root ferric chelate-reductase (FCR) were assessed. Ceratonia plants exposed to 1?µM Fe were efficient at using Fe in the synthesis of chlorophyll. The activity of FCR was enhanced in the total absence of Fe. In Poncirus a low activity of the FCR was observed in plants with no Fe. The balance between micronutrients in the Ceratonia roots was not affected with 1?µM Fe compared with the higher Fe concentration treatments.  相似文献

Many of the genes encoding important trans porters and metabolic enzymes have been identified over the last ten years. Moreover it has been possible to study the biochemical properties of the corresponding proteins in great detail. It is expected that by 2,010 biochemical functions will have been assigned to many of the products of the approximately 30,000 Arabidopsis genes. We will get closer to understanding the biological function of the gene products by systematic analysis of mutants using knock-out and TILLING approaches. Metabolomics initiatives complement these approaches by providing insight into the changes in cellular ion and metabolite profiles in the mutants, thus giving information essential for the construction of cellular and whole plant models. However, one important dataset especially relevant to multicellular organisms is lacking: the knowledge of the spatial and temporal profiles of ions and metabolite levels at cellular and subcell ular levels. To address this issue, we have developed protein-based nanosensors for several metabolites, providing a set of tools for the determination of cytosolic and subcellular ion (e.g. iron and zinc) and metabolite levels in real time using fluorescence-based microscopy. The prototypes of these sensors were shown to function in vitro and also in vivo, i.e. in yeast and in mammalian cell cultures. One future goal is to expand the set of sensors to a wider spectrum of targets by using the natural spectrum of periplasmic binding proteins from bacteria and by computational design of proteins with altered binding pockets. Application of nanosensor technology to plant cells and tissues will help to elucidate the special and temporal distribution of ions and metabolites.  相似文献

In Brazil, Paspalum species are commonly used in sports lawns, landscape projects, and as forage for livestock. Paspalum guenoarum plants showing symptoms of take-all disease were observed in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The fungus Gaeumannomyces graminis is the only species reported associated with this disease on Paspalum. In recent years, new species of Gaeumannomyces have been proposed based on molecular studies, which demonstrated the existence of a species complex. Take-all affects rice and wheat, but the aetiology of this disease on P. guenoarum is still unknown; this work aimed to elucidate the aetiology of the take-all on P. guenoarum in Brazil and evaluate possible alternative hosts of agricultural importance. Based on combined phylogenetic analyses of ITS, LSU, TEF-1α, and RPB1 sequences, the fungal pathogen was identified as Atripes paspali gen. et sp. nov., which is proposed as a new genus in the Magnaporthaceae family. A representative isolate of A. paspali was inoculated on healthy P. guenoarum plants and reproduced the same symptoms of take-all observed in the field. Furthermore, this fungus is also able to cause take-all on wheat plants; temperature directly affected the incidence and development of the disease in wheat. Take-all on P. guenoarum is caused by A. paspali.  相似文献

Objective To quantify the vapour output of the Komesaroff machine when using sevoflurane and to determine its performance for inducing and maintaining sevoflurane anaesthesia in dogs. Study design Prospective experimental study. Animals Six clinically normal beagles, aged 3–6 years and weighing 20 ± 1.65 kg (mean ± SEM). Methods The first study was performed using five Komesaroff vaporizers to measure the sevoflurane concentration delivered at each tap setting (I to IV) at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 minutes. For this study a ventilator was connected to the Komesaroff machine and set to deliver a tidal volume of 250 mL at 10 cycles minute?1; oxygen flow was 100 mL minute?1. A three‐litre reservoir bag was attached to the Y‐piece connector to act as a lung model. In the second study anaesthesia was induced in dogs with sevoflurane delivered by face‐mask mask and carried in 2 L minute?1 100% oxygen and with the vaporizer set at the fully open position. The quality and speed of induction were recorded. After orotracheal intubation, anaesthesia was maintained for 60 minutes with sevoflurane using an oxygen flow of 100 mL minute?1. The dogs were allowed to breathe spontaneously. The respiratory rate (RR), heart rate (HR), oesophageal temperature, systolic (SAP) mean (MAP) and diastolic (DAP) arterial pressure, end‐tidal CO2 concentration (Fe ′CO2) end‐tidal (Fe ′SEVO) and peak‐inspired (Fi SEVO) percentages of sevoflurane, and vaporizer tap setting were recorded every 5 minutes during anaesthesia. Results The delivery of sevoflurane was constant for each vaporizer setting. The mean output of sevoflurane was 0.44 ± 0.01% for setting I, 2.59 ± 0.18% for setting II, 3.28 ± 0.22% for setting III and 3.1 ± 0.5% for setting IV. In the second study, the mean induction time was 7.72 ± 0.60 minutes and the quality of the induction was good in all dogs. The mean vaporizer tap setting for the maintenance of anaesthesia was 3.48 ± 0.12 and the mean values for Fe ′SEVO and Fi SEVO were 2.42 ± 0.04% and 2.87 ± 0.06%, respectively. The pedal withdrawal reflex persisted throughout anaesthesia. Conclusions It proved impossible to produce surgical anaesthesia with sevoflurane delivered by the Komesaroff machine despite the highest possible sevoflurane concentration being delivered. Clinical relevance Sevoflurane delivered from the Komesaroff machine cannot be relied upon to maintain surgical anaesthesia in spontaneously breathing dogs.  相似文献

The growth of 67 young hybrid (Castanea × coudercii A. Camus) and pure sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) plantations was studied in relation to ground vegetation (GV) and non-site factors such as type of site preparation, weed control (WC), disease-related damage and prior land use. The classification and regression trees procedure was used to analyse the data. Ground vegetation communities accounted for a large amount of variability in the site index (SI) and were found to be useful as predictors of chestnut site quality. The presence of broom communities indicated the best site for establishing chestnut plantations, whereas bracken and bramble communities indicated poorer conditions, although those sites can still be considered suitable for growing chestnut. Terrain covered with herbaceous communities also indicated intermediate or even good site conditions. The poorest sites were the heathlands. As regards non-site factors, only weed control was found to be a significant variable. Ground vegetation caused a significant reduction in tree growth, indicating the importance of carrying out regular weeding to improve productivity. The most positive effect of weeding on height growth was detected in terrain covered by gorse and broom, and the least positive effect was observed in heathland. The findings are important for forest management purposes, as evaluation of ground vegetation will enable rapid prediction of site productivity classes in afforested areas and help in selecting the best land for planting this species in reforestation programmes.  相似文献
