A pot experiment was conducted to investigate whether the shoot cadmium (Cd) concentration in 11 rice and 10 soybean cultivars varied among 4 soils with different levels of Cd contamination. Significant differences in shoot Cd concentration were found among rice or soybean cultivars grown in the 4 soils. The ranking of the rice cultivars for the shoot Cd concentration varied considerably among the soils. On the other hand, the soybean cultivars were ranked similarly in terms of shoot Cd concentration in the 4 soils. Significant and positive correlations were found between the Cd and Zn concentrations and between the Cd and Mn concentrations in the shoot of rice cultivars, when they were grown in 2 soils with relatively moderate levels of Cd contamination. The shoot Cd concentration in the soybean cultivars, however, was not correlated with the concentrations determined for any of the metals (Zn, Mn, Cu, and Fe) across the 4 soils. Significant and positive correlations between the concentrations of Cd in younger shoots and mature seeds were detected among the soybean cultivars in 2 soils used, unlike among the rice cultivars, indicating that it may be difficult to evaluate the genotypic variation in seed Cd concentration using relatively younger shoots in the case of rice. These results revealed that genotypic differences in shoot Cd concentration in rice or soybean are variable or invariable among soils, respectively. 相似文献

To investigate useful biomarkers associated with proximal tubular injury, we assessed
changes in levels of a focused set of biomarkers in urine and blood. Male rats
administered a single dose or four doses of gentamicin (GM, 240 mg/kg/day) or a single
dose of cisplatin (CDDP, 5 mg/kg) were euthanized on days 2 (the day after initial dosing)
5, or 12. At each time point, histopathological examination of the kidney and
immunohistochemistry for biomarkers, kidney injury molecule-1 (Kim-1), lipocalin (NGAL),
clusterin (CLU), cystatin C (CysC) and β2-microglobulin (β2M) were performed. Biomarker
levels were measured in urine and blood. In both treatment groups, degenerated/necrotic
proximal tubules and regenerated tubules were mainly observed on days 5 and 12,
respectively. At the same time as these tubular injuries, urinary Kim-1, CysC and β2M
levels were increased. Moreover, urinary levels of CysC and β2M in GM-treated animals and
Kim-1 in CDDP-treated animals increased (on day 2) prior to tubular injury on day 5. This
was considered to reflect the characteristics of drug toxicity. Although almost all of the
biomarkers in blood were not sufficiently sensitive to detect proximal tubular injury,
urinary and plasma β2M levels simultaneously increased. Therefore, in addition to urinary
Kim-1, CysC and β2M levels, plasma β2M levels were also considered useful for detecting

ABSTRACT: In order to identify free amino acids (FAA) that are importantas intracellular osmolytes in Crassostrea gigas , we investigatedthe change in FAA content in the mantle exposed to an abrupt decreaseor increase in salinity. In hypo-osmotic adaptation, most FAA showedremarkable and synchronous decreases from 2 to 8 h, suggestingthat the non-selective efflux of FAA was mainly responsible forthe decrease in FAA. Taurine that accounted for approximately 80% oftotal FAA content contributed most significantly to the hypo-osmoticadaptation. In hyper-osmotic adaptation, significant increases inglycine, alanine, β-alanine, proline, arginine and taurinewere observed. 以温敏型核雄性不育系大107为母本,以6个优良自交系(东圣3号、牛番茄、美丽莎、1439、12、A3)为父本进行杂交,配制成6个番茄杂交组合,分析果实硬度的杂种优势及遗传效应。结果表明:6个杂交组合中,果实硬度表现为负向杂种优势;果实硬度性状一般配合力与特殊配合力分别为58.56%和41.44%;广义遗传力和狭义遗传力分别为52.76%和50.31%;果实硬度的同亲相关系数为0.8479,达到显著水平;可作为生产优良果实硬度的杂种一代的亲本有大107、东圣3号、美丽莎、牛番茄;果实硬度以大107×牛番茄为最高。 相似文献

Although the biliary system is generally aseptic, gallbladder microbiota has been reported in humans and some animals apart from dogs. We screened and analyzed the bacterial deoxyribonucleic acid in canine gallbladders using bile sampled from 7 healthy dogs and 52 dogs with liver- or gallbladder-associated disease. PCR screening detected bacteria in 17.3% of diseased dogs (9/52) and none in healthy dogs. Microbiota analysis of PCR-positive samples showed that the microbial diversity differed between liver- and gallbladder-associated disease groups. Thus, a specific bacterial community appears to occur at a certain frequency in the bile of diseased dogs. 相似文献

Plug seedlings, widely used in cabbage cultivation in Japan, are often infected by seed-borne pathogens, especially the serious
pathogen Alternaria brassicicola. Because information on seed infestation is scant in Japan, we investigated fungal infestation in commercial batches of cabbage
seeds produced between 1984 and 2001. A total of 123 lots were divided into six groups by production period (1984–1989, 1994–1998,
and 2001) and by use or nonuse of fungicide. One hundred seeds from each lot were incubated separately on agar at 25°C to
isolate the predominant fungus. Alternaria brassicicola was isolated most frequently, 0%–94% of the seeds depending on seed lot or 6%–21% of the seeds grouped by production period
and fungicide treatment. Thus, the pathogen was isolated even from seeds refrigerated for 17 years. Alternaria brassicicola accounted for 57%–95% of all isolated fungi by the group and was higher on older or fungicide-treated seeds. Seeds that were
not treated with fungicide in lots grouped by production districts in western Japan were infested with A. brassicicola at a rate of over 12%, higher than that in the eastern region (<4%). Infestation was higher in the warmer areas of Japan.
Eighty-five isolates, other than A. brassicicola, produced spots on cabbage cotyledons, although they were not isolated as frequently: less than 5% of seeds by group separated
by production period and fungicide treatment. Most of these isolates were Alternaria alternata. This is the first report on the frequency of fungal infestation of commercial cabbage seeds in Japan. 相似文献

Activities of the oxygen radical-scavenging enzymes were determined in leaves of ‘Kyomidori’ pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) and ‘Senryo’ eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) seedlings under two photoperiod treatments; 12 h light/12 h dark (12/12 h) or with continuous light (24/0 h) for six days. Growing eggplant under continuous light resulted in leaf chlorosis after four days and a sharp decline in the chlorophyll content. In eggplants grown under 24/0 h photoperiod, the activities of antioxidative enzymes; superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD) rapidly increased from day two. This was an indication of photooxidative damage. In contrast, leaf chlorosis did not occur in pepper plants grown under continuous light, while the chlorophyll content was even higher in the 24/0 h than in the 12/12 h photoperiod. Continuous light did not enhance the activities of SOD and POD in leaves of pepper. However, the CAT activity increased faster and was significantly higher in pepper than in eggplants grown under continuous illumination. Pepper plants did not appear to suffer from photooxidative damage and thus grew normally under continuous illumination. 相似文献
