Levels of resistance to Plasmopara viticola, from susceptible to highly resistant, of different grapevine cultivars were observed in vineyards and confirmed by the symptoms developed after inoculations. On the abaxial surface of infected leaves, P. viticola developed abundant sporangiophores on susceptible cultivars (Chasselas, Gamay, Gamaret and Pinot Noir), whereas on less susceptible cultivars (Seyval Blanc and Johanniter) the parasite produced few sporangiophores and some necrotic spots at the site of infection. On resistant cultivars (Bronner, Solaris, IRAC 2091), P. viticola induced a hypersensitive response and only necrotic spots were visible and the disease ceased to develop. Stilbenes were analyzed 4, 7, 24, 48 h post-infection (hpi) on small leaf samples cut from the site of infection. Large differences were observed between the cultivars at 24 and 48 hpi. Susceptible grapevines produced resveratrol and its glycoside, piceide. In contrast, resistant plants produced high concentration of ε- and δ-viniferin. Resveratrol and piceide have little or no toxicity activity against P. viticola, whereas δ-viniferin is highly toxic and can be considered an important marker for resistance of grapevine to downy mildew. The importance of oxidative dimerization of resveratrol in comparison to the extent of its glycosylation in defense reaction of grapevines against P. viticola is discussed. 相似文献

Recently, some preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated the ability of brown seaweeds in reducing the risk factors for metabolic syndrome. Here, we analyzed the beneficial effect of a nutraceutical formulation containing a phytocomplex extracted from seaweeds and chromium picolinate in animal models of liver steatosis of differing severities (rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its complication, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)). This treatment led to a significant drop in hepatic fat deposition in both models (p < 0.01 vs. untreated animals), accompanied by a reduction in plasma inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin 6, tumor necrosis factor α, and C reactive protein, and myeloperoxidase expression in liver tissue. Furthermore, a modulation of the molecular pathways involved in lipid metabolism and storage was demonstrated, since we observed the significant reduction of the mRNA levels of fatty acid synthase, diacylglycerol acyltransferases, the sterol-binding protein SREBP-1, and the lipid transporter perilipin-2, in both treated NAFLD and NASH rats in comparison to untreated ones. In conclusion, this nutraceutical product was effective in reducing liver steatosis and showed further beneficial effects on hepatic inflammation and glycemic control, which were particularly evident in rats characterized by a more severe condition, thus representing a therapeutic option for the treatment of NAFLD and NASH patients. 相似文献

During a series of experiments, bacteriological elements in scallop larval rearing were investigated: larvae susceptibility to pathogens as a function of their age, and the use of probiotic bacteria during larviculture. Younger larvae (d5 PF) were highly more susceptible to pathogenic‐challenge than their older siblings, which were challenged at an older age (d15 PF). A challenge with 104 CFU mL?1 of V. pectenicida killed 100% of d5 PF larvae 7 days following challenge, yet killed only 9% of d15 PF larvae 9 days following challenge. Use of the probiotics Phaeobacter gallaeciensis, Alteromonas macleodii 0444 and Neptunomonas sp. 0536, provided for larger larvae, a high yield of competent larvae and, perhaps more importantly, protection against pathogen‐challenge similar to levels achieved from antibiotic use. When challenged with V. pectenicida, d29 survivals were 20.3%, 85.1% and 75.0% respectively for control (no probiotic), antibiotic treated, and ‘probiotic mix’ administered larvae. Use of potential probiotic Pseudoalteromonas sp. D41 appeared to hinder scallop larvae. Future use of probiotics in scallop larval rearing would benefit from combined use of P. gallaeciensis, A. macleodii 0444 and Neptunomonas sp. 0536. 相似文献

Black dot and silver scurf are potato blemish diseases whose economic impact has increased in recent years. Because their symptomatology on tubers is visually similar, disease assessment does not usually differentiate between the two pathogens, which share the same ecological niche. The epidemiology of black dot has been extensively studied, especially in the UK, but the factors that influence silver scurf have been less investigated. In this study, the influence of cultivar, source of inoculum, and environmental conditions on both diseases was studied in field trials over a three-year period (2016–2018) in Switzerland. Planting minitubers did not prevent either disease in daughter tubers, indicating the contribution of soil as an inoculum reservoir. An arbitrary threshold of Colletotrichum coccodes soil inoculum could be set to discriminate between low and high disease risk. For the first time, Helminthosporium solani DNA was detected in stolons, and infections appeared earlier in stolons than in tubers. H. solani stolon and tuber infections usually appeared later in the season than those of C. coccodes. Black dot severity correlated positively with precipitation, while silver scurf severity correlated positively with temperature. Table potato cultivars commonly grown in Switzerland exhibited significant differences in susceptibility to both diseases, and cultivars with low susceptibility to both silver scurf and black dot were identified. These results gave new insights into understanding the factors driving the epidemiology of potato blemish diseases and may contribute to building a risk assessment scheme to manage both diseases simultaneously. 相似文献

This study was undertaken to measure certain carbon (C) fluxes in a Pinus ponderosa-based silvopastoral systems (SPS) in Patagonia, Chile. Results are compared to those from adjacent 18-year-old managed pine plantations (PPP) and natural prairie (PST). Litter decomposition was determined using the litterbag method. Leached soil solution was collected with tension lysimeters at 80 cm depth, and soil respiration evaluated in situ with the soda lime technique. Wind direction influenced the litterfall distribution in SPS, with 94 % falling in the tree strips and within 3 m on the east side. In the first 6 months the initial needle decomposition was low and less than 5 % of the initial mass. The overall soil organic carbon (SOC) and N contents (0–40 cm depth) decreased significantly in the order SPS > PST > PPP, and within SPS were greater in the alleys, starting at 2.5 m from the tree strip, with the highest values always eastward of the strip, suggesting influence by the wind direction. Total soil respiration decreased in the order PST > SPS > PPP and leached C decreased in the order PPP > PST > SPS. In general, the mean annual soil moisture in the pasture alleys of SPS was twice that of PST. The air/soil temperatures decreased significantly in the second year only in PST and at 2 m and beyond from the tree strip in SPS. Soil moisture varied significantly among treatments, but showed the strong influence exerted by trees in the creation of a favorable microclimate within the pasture alleys of SPS. 相似文献
