Because of their ability to store a high amount of soil organic matter (SOM), Chernozem soils are one of the most important resources from both agricultural and environmental viewpoints. This study was carried out to determine the SOM budget under grain farming in the Chernozem soil of northern Kazakhstan through the analysis of in situ soil respiration and soil environmental factors such as soil temperature as well as moisture content. Five experimental plots including one fallow field were established at the experimental farm of Barayev Kazakh Research and Production Center of Grain Farming, Shortandy, northern Kazakhstan (mean annual precipitation and average year temperature are 323 mm and 1.6°C, respectively). Mean daily soil temperature increased to above O°C in early April, remaining at above 20°C from mid-June to mid-August, and then sharply decreased to below 5°C at the end of September. Most of the biological activities were considered to be limited from April to September. On the other hand, the soil moisture content remained high after thawing until mid-June and then continuously decreased in the cropped plots except during the rainfall events. The soil respiration rate recorded the highest values from late June to early July and overall fluctuations were similar to those of the soil temperature, unlike the fluctuations of soil microbial C and N contents, which exhibited similar patterns to those of the soil moisture content. In order to represent the daily soil respiration rates using the soil environmental factors, the following relationship was introduced as a model function: Cem = aM pbexp(-E/RT). The coefficients, a, b, and E (activation energy in Arrhenius equation), were determined by stepwise multiple regression after logarithm transformation using the measured data, Cem (daily soil respiration rate), M (volumetric soil moisture content), and T (absolute soil temperature). As a result, a significant relationship was always obtained between the soil respiration rate and the activation energy, E, while the contribution of the soil moisture content to the soil respiration rate was uncertain. Using the regression equations and monitored data of soil temperature and moisture content, cumulative soil respiration throughout the cropping period was calculated to be in the range of 2.5 to 3.2 Mg C hap-1 On the other hand, the amounts of crop residues in the cropped plots that were expected to be incorporated into the soils ranged from 1.6 to 4.4 Mg C hap-1 Except for the plot planted with oats (higher amounts of residues than for wheat), the SOIL budget was slightly negative in this year, that is, the soils lost their organic matter stock. Although it is difficult to generalize the C budget in different years because of the large variations in crop growth due to fluctuating water resources, the disadvantage of summer fallow (no residues) was obvious in terms of SOM budget. The net soil respiration rate in the fallow plot, 2.9 Mg C hap-1 was approximately equivalent to 4% of the total SOM stock in the plow layer (30 cm) (70 to 80 Mg C hap-1 To reduce further loss of SOM, at least evenly extensive use of summer fallow should be reconsidered.  相似文献

The mechanism of sediment formation during the storage of green tea beverage was investigated. Green tea extract was separated by Diaion HP-20 column chromatography, and a sediment-formation test was performed. Results showed that at least one compound of the substance causing flock sediment was contained in each of the HP-20 nonadsorbed and adsorbed fractions. From the following fractionations and structure analyses, the substance in the HP-20 adsorbed fraction was determined to be 1-O-galloyl-4,6-O-(S)-hexahydroxydiphenoyl-beta-D-glucose (strictinin), which is one of the ellagitannins. Strictinin was hydrolyzed to ellagic acid by heat-sterilization processes such as retort sterilization or the ultra-high temperature processing used during the manufacturing of tea beverages. Ellagic acid combined with proteins in the HP-20 nonadsorbed fraction to form an irreversible sediment of green tea beverage; ellagic acid and proteins were confirmed to be present in that sediment. The HP-20 adsorbed fraction contained little strictinin and formed hardly any sediment, suggesting that control of the strictinin content is significant in avoiding sediment formation during the manufacturing process of tea beverages.  相似文献

Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains D-3 and R-13 were found to be cleared within 7 days from a marine neritid gastropod mollusc, Heminerita japonica, maintained in artificial seawater with salinities of 15, 25 and 35 permil (%) at 25 degrees C. Escherichia coli strain YS-2 survived at a level of 10(2) colony forming units per gram in the mollusc maintained in 15% water for up to 14 days and fell to non-detectable level within 7 days in a 35% salinity group. The ability of H. japonica to clear these organisms seems to be less active than that of a marine species. Nerita albicilla, and more active than that of an estuarine species. Serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) isoenzymes were studied in normal dogs using a commercially available polyacrylamide gel disk electrophoresis kit (PAG/disk kit). Serum samples taken from the dogs were incubated with neuraminidase, after which most showed ALP isoenzymes as two characteristic stained bands. To determine the origin of each band, ALP isoenzymes of serum and tissue extracts (liver, intestine and bone) were characterized by heating, wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) and levamisole treatments. The results suggested that the band detected on the anode was liver ALP (LALP) and that the band detected on the cathode represented bone ALP (BALP), and both were corticosteroid-induced ALP (CALP). The percentage of each ALP isoenzyme to total ALP activity was estimated by densitometry. The percentage of BALP was the highest in young dogs (age<1 year, 64.7% ), and this value decreased with age. In contrast, the percentage of LALP in young dogs (22.2%) was much lower than that in middle-aged dogs (ages 1 year to 7 years, 59.3%) and old dogs (ages>7 years, 50.4%). The present results suggested that a commercially available PAG/disk kit is capable of detecting three serum ALP isoenzymes in dogs, and further that it may have clinical applications in the evaluation of ALP isoenzymes in veterinary medicine.  相似文献

A 7-month-old castrated French bulldog was presented with a left-sided mandibular tumor. The initial tumor biopsy diagnosis was ameloblastoma. The owner brought this dog the Kitasato University Veterinary Teaching Hospital for more detailed examination and treatment. Computed tomography revealed a tumor on the left lateral mandibular gingiva from the caudal third of the incisor tooth to the right canine tooth, associated with severe amorphous osteolysis of the mandibular bone. The tumor was surgically excised and diagnosed as papillary squamous cell carcinoma. Currently, 2514 d (6.9 y) since the operation, the dog is healthy, without recurrence.Key clinical message:Although papillary squamous cell carcinoma is rare, many cases have been reported in the oral cavity of medium-to large-sized dogs. Based on this report, papillary squamous cell carcinoma can occur in small dogs such as young French bulldogs and a good prognosis can be achieved with proper resection.  相似文献

Rhizobia spend most of their life in the soil outside the host plants. Soil conditions, therefore, may exert influence on the survival and variation of rhizobia so as to contribute to the nitrogen fixation of the legumes. The knowledge on the ecology of Rhizobium in soils may expected to give basis for the success of seed inoculation and establishment of effective strains in the field. ABSTRACT: The effect of reward level (amount of food received in response to one trigger actuation) on the self-feeding activity of juvenile yellowtails was examined. Three groups of 10 juvenile yellowtails (mean bodyweight, 65.6 g) were allocated randomly to three 200 L cylindrical tanks set in the experiment room. Each tank was illuminated by overhead fluorescent lamps with a light : dark photoperiod regimen of 12 h : 12 h (light 06.00–18.00 hours). A rod-type tactile switch was used to activate the self-feeding device. Three levels of reward were set up by installing a different number of identical feeders for each group: one feeder for the low-reward group, three feeders for the medium-reward group and five feeders for the high-reward group. Each feeder delivered 3–7 pellets per actuation. Yellowtails in all groups showed a clearly diurnal feeding pattern that was synchronized to the given photoperiod. Average number of feeder actuations per day was highest (219/day) in the low-reward group. Second highest was the medium-reward group (116/day), and last was the high-reward group (67/day). The resultant average feed intake per day was 27.1 g/day in the low-reward group, 31.5 g/day in the medium-reward group and 28.4 g/day in the high-reward group. Thus, yellowtails appear to have the ability to regulate the amount of feed delivered daily by increasing the number of food demands when the reward is low and decreasing the number of food demands when the reward is high.  相似文献

A simple conventional method of immunohistochemistry (i.e. fixing the frozen sections in cold methanol) was used to determine the immunolocalization of cellular prion protein (PrPc), with good results. In the rat cerebrum, the cytoplasm of neural cells in the cortex and corpus stratum, pia mater, membrane limitans gliae superficialis, choroid plexus and blood vessel wall were immunostained. The formation of network structures of immunostained neural and/or glial fibers in the cerebral cortex was also observed. These immunostained network structures of neural and/or glial fibers were also observed in cultured neural cells. The results suggest that fixation of frozen sections and cultured cells with cold methanol is a useful method for detecting the immunolocalization of PrPc and that PrPc exists in the various components of the central nervous system of the rat.  相似文献

Cabbage (B. oleracea L. var. capitata L.) plants wore grown for 79 days in cuture solutions obtaining 4 levels of lithium, 0, 0.1, 1. 10 mel) sodium (0, 0.2. 2, 20, or rubidium , 0, 0.05, 0.5) combined with a low or high supply of potassium(0.2 or 2 mcf/l, and the effects of the cations supplied on the growth and ration composition of the plants were studied.

The total dry weight of the plants decreased at higher levels of the cations, especially Li in the culture solution, concurrent with an increaie in the contents of each cation in the plants. The decrease in the dry weight at higher levels was smaller in the high K supply, than in the low supply, causing a decrease in the contents of the cations. The critical contents of Li, Na, and which resulted in a 50° decrease in the dry weight or inner leaves due to excess injury were estimated to be about 0.07, 2.5, and 3.0% on a dry basis in the outer leaves and 0.05, 2.0, and 3.0% in the roots, respectively, regardless of the K supply.  相似文献
