Three novel analogs of pochonicine (1) were isolated from a solid fermentation culture of the fungal strain Pochonia suchlasporia var. suchlasporia TAMA 87, and their structures were elucidated as 7-deoxypochonicine (2), 6-deoxypochonicine (3), and 6,7-dideoxypochonicine (4). These analogs were found to possess the same stereochemistry as pochonicine. Comparison of β-N-acetylglucosaminidase (GlcNAcase) inhibitory activity between these analogs and pochonicine suggested that the C-6 hydroxy group of pochonicine was essential to its potent GlcNAcase inhibitory activity and that the C-7 hydroxy group also contributed to the activity, but to a lesser extent than the C-6 hydroxy group. 相似文献

Abstract A simultaneous‐equation model of the supply and demand of shrimp in Japan is constructed, and sensitivity analyses are conducted to measure the effects of changing exchange rates and the stock holdings of shrimp. Using monthly statistics from January 1990 to December 1997, the Japanese own‐price elasticity of supply is found to be inelastic and has a less important effect than the beginning stocks factor. The Japanese demand for shrimp is also found to be price‐and income‐inelastic. The beginning of stock holdings is more sensitive to Japanese shrimp demand than the import price and income. The result of seasonality analyses shows that Japanese shrimp demand also depends on cultural factors. 相似文献

To design a method for predicting outbreaks of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) in scallop fishing grounds, the relationship between the distribution of the toxic dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense and the dynamics of the Soya Warm Current (SWC) was examined in the Okhotsk Sea off Hokkaido. Surveys were conducted from May to June to clarify the transportation mechanism of A.?tamarense from the oceanic area to the coastal area. The sea-level difference (SLD) between Wakkanai and Abashiri was monitored as an index of the strength of the SWC southeastward flow in an alongshore belt to examine the possible occurrence of A.?tamarense in the coastal area during temporal weakening of the SWC. A bottom-mounted acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) was used for direct observations of the SWC. The results indicated that PSP occurred when low-salinity water contaminated with A.?tamarense extended to the coast during temporal weakening of the SWC due to a decrease of the SLD. Our results strongly indicate that predictions can be realized by monitoring the decrease of SLD as an index of temporal weakening of the SWC after surveys of the distribution of A.?tamarense in the oceanic area before the period of PSP occurrence. 相似文献

“Burnt meat” is a term used to describe the white (pale, grainy, exudative) muscle of yellowtail or tuna. It (with lightness
parameter, L* ≥ 55) was observed after 2 h storage in the suffocate in air (SA) 29°C group and after 4 h storage in the spinal cord destruction
(SCD) 29°C group. In the SA 17°C group, burnt meat was also observed after 4 h storage. In contrast, the meat in the SCD
17°C group was normal until after 12 h storage. The myosin heavy chain (MHC) was more degraded than the other myofibrillar
proteins, and some protein bands increased in the burnt meat. The protease that leads to the degradation of MHC was investigated
using myofibrils from the meat. EDTA completely suppressed the degradation, indicating that a myofibril-bound EDTA-sensitive
protease (MBESP) may exist in yellowtail muscle and this caused the degradation of MHC. The optimum pH and temperature of

Epilactose (4-O-beta-galactopyranosyl-D-mannnose) is a rare disaccharide in cow milk that can be synthesized from lactose by the cellobiose 2-epimerase of Ruminococcus albus. In this study, we examined the biological activities of epilactose using male Wistar-ST rats. The apparent rates of calcium and magnesium absorption of rats fed epilactose and fructooligosaccharide diets were greater than those fed control and lactose diets, accompanied by greater weight gain of the cecal wall and higher levels of short-chain fatty acids and other organic acids. Epilactose also increased the calcium absorption in everted small intestinal sacs. In addition, the levels of plasma total cholesterol and nonhigh-density lipoprotein cholesterol were lower in epilactose-fed rats. These results indicate that epilactose promotes calcium absorption in the small intestine and possibly lowers the risk of arteriosclerosis. Cecal microbes may efficiently utilize epilactose and contribute to these biological activities. 相似文献

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a causative agent of bovine viral diarrhea. In Japan, a previous study reported that subgenotype 1b viruses were predominant until 2014. Because there is little information regarding the recent epidemiological status of BVDV circulating in Japan, we performed genetic characterization of 909 BVDV isolates obtained between 2014 and 2020. We found that 657 and 252 isolates were classified as BVDV-1 and BVDV-2, respectively, and that they were further subdivided into 1a (35 isolates, 3.9%), 1b (588, 64.7%), 1c (34, 3.7%), and 2a (252, 27.7%). Phylogenetic analysis using entire E2 coding sequence revealed that a major domestic cluster in Japan among BVDV-1b and 2a viruses were unchanged from a previous study conducted from 2006 to 2014. These results provide updated information concerning the epidemic strain of BVDV in Japan, which would be helpful for appropriate vaccine selection. 相似文献

The aim of this study is to investigate the immunoadjuvant activity of the crude Momordica charantia lectin (crMCL) extracted from seed using beta-galactosidase (beta-gal) as the model antigen. BALB/c mice were injected intramuscularly with beta-gal alone or beta-gal + crMCL for up to four immunizations at two-week intervals. After administration of 2 doses, the IgG-specific titer to beta-gal was significantly higher in mice in the beta-gal + crMCL group than in that from the animals from the beta-gal alone group, while it was about the same in both groups after 1 dose. Our data suggest that crMCL may help raise antibodies under the prime and boost administration regimen and could be a potent vaccine adjuvant. 相似文献

This study investigated the knockdown (KD) of Kid on maturation developmental competence and multinucleation of mouse germinal vesicle (GV) oocytes after parthenogenetic activation. Data revealed that Kid messenger RNA (mRNA) was expressed in GV and MII stage oocyte and 1‐ and 2‐cell embryos. Additionally, Kid mRNA expression in the Kid KD group decreased by nearly 46% compared to the control small interfering RNA (siRNA) groups. The rate of multinucleated embryos in the Kid KD group (52.4%) was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than the control siRNA group (4.7%). Finally, the developmental rates were significantly lower in the Kid siRNA group at > 4‐cell stage (28.6% vs. 53.5%) and the blastocyst stage (2.4% vs. 23.3%) compared to the control siRNA groups. Suppression of Kid using siRNA caused multinucleation in early embryos with high frequency and it may increase 2‐ to 4‐cell arrested embryos and reduce the developmental competence to blastocyst. 相似文献
