Pharmaceutical industrial waste was collected from Ghaziabad (Cooper Pharma Ltd.) and analyzed for color, odor, specific gravity, turbidity, pH, total solids, suspended solids, dissolved solids, volatile solids, dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), organic and inorganic nitrogen, sulfur, chlorides, sulfates and phosphates. The detrimental effects of industrial waste on microorganisms were studied in the system with lower and higher volumes of the wastes (0.5–12 ml) using glucose substrate as a source of carbon for microorganisms. The cultures of saprophytic and nitrifying bacteria were grown from sewage and pea gravel, respectively, and tested for their nature.  相似文献

The kinetics of the reactions of chlorpyrifos-methyl, an organophosphorus insecticide, with hydrogen sulfide (H(2)S) and bisulfide (HS(-)) were determined in well-defined aqueous solutions. The resulting pseudo-first-order rate constant for chlorpyrifos-methyl with bisulfide yielded a second-order rate constant of (2.1 +/- 0.3) x 10(-3) M(-1) s(-1). The second-order rate constant for chlorpyrifos-methyl with hydrogen sulfide is significantly slower than the second-order rate constant with bisulfide. The contribution of H(2)S to the observed degradation rate constant of chlorpyrifos-methyl at concentrations of up to 4 mM H(2)S is not significant. The second-order rate constant of chlorpyrifos-methyl with H(2)S was too low to be measured in this study. The results indicate that HS(-) present at environmentally relevant concentrations may represent an important sink for phosphorothionate triesters in a coastal marine environment, while H(2)S reacts too slowly to be environmentally relevant (pH 6-9). Trichloropyridinol, the major product of hydrolysis of chlorpyrifos-methyl, is only a minor product of the reaction of chlorpyrifos-methyl with bisulfide; however, trichloropyridinol was found to be stable under the experimental conditions.  相似文献

A systematic study has been carried out to investigate the mechanical and physical properties of jute, bamboo and coir (brown and white) single fibers. The tensile properties (tensile strength, Young’s modulus and strain to failure) were determined by varying span length. Scanning electron microscopic analysis was also carried out to determine the physical properties of fibers in order to correlate with its strength, Young’s modulus and strain to failure. The Young’s modulus and strain to failure were corrected using newly developed equations. The study revealed that with increasing test span length the Young’s modulus increased and tensile strength as well as strain to failure decreased. This is because no extensometer could be used in this test set-up and machine displacement (denoted by α) was used for the modulus determination. It is also attributed that larger span length helps to minimize the machine displacement compared to smaller ones due to the reduced relative effect of slippage in the clamps. Among all fibers, the Young’s modulus of bamboo fiber was the highest. Jute fiber had smoother surface compared to other three examined fibers.  相似文献

The honeydew of Marchalina hellenica is collected by honeybees for pine honey production, which is of great economic importance in Turkey. During 2009–2011 we investigated the predators of M. hellenica, which is distributed mainly in the areas with a Mediterranean climate – in the Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean regions of Turkey. The findings showed that M. hellenica has many predators in the studied areas and that these play an important role in the forest ecosystem. These predators are: Anystis baccarum (L.) (Acarina: Anystidae); Allothrombium triticium Zhang and Allothrombium pulvinum Ewing (Acarina: Trombidiidae); Neoleucopis kartliana (Tanasijtshuk) (Diptera: Chamaemyiidae); Myrrha octodecimguttata (L.), Rodolia cardinalis Mulstant, Scymnus subvillosus (Goeze) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), Dichochrysa genei (Rambur), Dichochrysa prasina (Burmeister) and Chrysoperla lucasina (Lacroix) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae); Wesmaelius subnebulosus (Stephens) (Neuroptera: Hemerobiidae), Cardiastethus nazarenus Reuter and Elatophilus pachycnemis Horváth (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae). The most efficient and common predator was N. kartliana, here recorded for the first time from Turkey.  相似文献

There are several reviews that separately cover different aspects of fish gelatin including its preparation, characteristics, modifications, and applications. Its packaging application in food industry is extensively covered but other applications are not covered or covered alongside with those of collagen. This review is comprehensive, specific to fish gelatin/hydrolysate and cites recent research. It covers cosmetic applications, intrinsic activities, and biomedical applications in wound dressing and wound healing, gene therapy, tissue engineering, implants, and bone substitutes. It also covers its pharmaceutical applications including manufacturing of capsules, coating of microparticles/oils, coating of tablets, stabilization of emulsions and drug delivery (microspheres, nanospheres, scaffolds, microneedles, and hydrogels). The main outcomes are that fish gelatin is immunologically safe, protects from the possibility of transmission of bovine spongiform encephalopathy and foot and mouth diseases, has an economic and environmental benefits, and may be suitable for those that practice religious-based food restrictions, i.e., people of Muslim, Jewish and Hindu faiths. It has unique rheological properties, making it more suitable for certain applications than mammalian gelatins. It can be easily modified to enhance its mechanical properties. However, extensive research is still needed to characterize gelatin hydrolysates, elucidate the Structure Activity Relationship (SAR), and formulate them into dosage forms. Additionally, expansion into cosmetic applications and drug delivery is needed.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of a commercial liquid smoke flavoring agent and two different brining solutions applied on fillets of anchovy were investigated by performing sensory analyses, meat yield, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content, and chemical composition analyses. Fillets were brined at 40 and 65% for 4 h at 4°C. Meat yield, sensorial acceptability, and chemical compositions were affected by each brining level. No detectable PAH levels were found in smoke flavoring treated fish samples. Sixty-five percent salt level was rejected by the participants due to high salt content. The results of the study showed that liquid smoke flavoring treatment is applicable to the anchovy fillets, and 40% brining level is recommended.  相似文献

This study aims to investigate the effects of dietary garlic powder (25 and 50 g kg?1 feed) supplementation for 6 weeks on lipid and protein oxidation biomarkers in various tissues as well as some blood biochemical parameters in common carp. Based on the present study results, serum malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations were decreased following garlic supplementation, but the decrease was only significant (P < 0.05) in the group that received 50 g kg?1 dietary garlic compared with the control group. Moreover, garlic at 50 g kg?1 diet caused significant decrease in MDA values of liver and kidney. Additionally, the decreasing effect of garlic at 25 g kg?1 diet on MDA values was only significant in liver. Protein carbonyl contents were only decreased significantly in muscle following garlic administration at 25 g kg?1 diet. Serum aspartate aminotransferase activity decreased significantly in carp that received 25 g kg?1 dietary garlic. Moreover, alkaline phosphatase activity decreased significantly in carp fed diets containing 25 and 50 g kg?1 garlic. On the other hand, garlic supplementation had no significant effect on gamma-glutamyl transferase activity and total protein, albumin, and creatinine concentrations. The results of the present study indicate that garlic powder has potential to decrease oxidative stress to some extent by reducing lipid and protein oxidation in some tissues of common carp.  相似文献

Dermatitis caused by stimulation of beetle paederus, is a common health problem in Northern and some southern parts of Iran. Since by now, traditional medicine and some corticosteroid agents have been used for treatment of dermatitis caused by beetle paederus. Because, there are few researches about classical treatment of the disease at academic level, this study planned to compare the effectiveness of triamcinolone ointment and atorvastatin tablet with placebo in treatment ofpaederus dermatitis in Northern Iran. A randomized double-blind clinical trial was carried out on 30 patients referred to the hospital and clinics at Sari and Neka countries in Northern Iran during 6 months. Patients were randomly divided into two therapeutic equal groups. The first group was triamcinolone ointment twice a day and a placebo atorvastatin tablet daily. The second group was oral atorvastatin one tablet (20 mg) daily and a placebo triamcinolone ointment twice a day. In Seventh day of visits, therapeutic response of the patients in triamcinolone and atorvastatin group were 93.33 and 80%, respectively. No significant differences were found in therapeutic outcome between the two groups (p > 0.05). The results showed both oftriamcinolone ointment and oral atorvastatin had similar effect on paederus dermatitis. Because the paederus dermatitis is a self-limited disease use of topical therapy for treatment of the disease is recommend.  相似文献
