Two malting hulled varieties (Sebastian, Malz) and one nonmalting hull-less variety (AF Lucius) were used to assess vitamins C and E in the green biomass of young plants of spring barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) in three stages of growth and development (BBCH 29, 31, 32-33). The samples from sampling I (BBCH 29) had statistically significantly higher vitamin C content and vitamin E activity compared to sampling I (BBCH 31). The highest average vitamin content was determined in the malting variety Sebastian (vitamin C, 520 mg 100 g(-1) DM; vitamin E, 73.06 mg kg(-1) DM) compared to the varieties Malz (501 mg 100 g(-1) DM; 61.84 mg kg(-1) DM) and AF Lucius (508 mg 100 g(-1) DM; 67.81 mg 100 g(-1) DM). The locality Krome?r?i?z? (Czech Republic, CR), with vitamin C and E contents of 524 mg 100 g(-1) DM and 68.74 mg kg(-1) DM, respectively, proved to be more suitable for growing green biomass compared to the locality Z?abc?ice (CR) (content of vitamins C and E, 477 mg 100 g(-1) DM and 66.39 mg kg(-1) DM, respectively). During the research period (2005-2007), it was determined that the green mass of young plants of spring barley was a significant source of vitamins C and E in the growth stage BBCH 29; in later samplings (BBCH 32-33) the vitamin levels dropped (by as much as 48%). These vitamins are important antioxidants for human health. Therefore, "green barley" can be recommended for the preparation of natural dietary supplements and is preferred to synthetic vitamin preparations. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of topical application of a hyaluronan (HA) derivative in wound healing with respect to the rate of epithelialization, fibroplasia, angiogenesis and contraction, magnitude of the local inflammatory response, local expression of transforming growth factor-β 1 and 3 (TGF-β 1 and 3), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and collagen type III deposition. In six healthy adult horses, six full-thickness skin wounds were created on the dorsal aspect of both metacarpi using a sterile template. Sites were sampled at 0, 1, 2, 5, 14, 21, and 35 days following wounding. Wounds on one limb were dressed with commercially available esterified HA fleece under a nonadherent dressing. The opposite limb was covered with the nonadherent dressing alone (control). Images of the most proximal wounds were used to determine the area of total healing and the relative contributions of epithelialization and contraction to healing. At each sample time, a control and treatment biopsy were taken for histological evaluation and special stains. All samples were evaluated for degree of inflammation, fibroplasia and angiogenesis; in situ hybridization for type III collagen, TGFβ1 and 3, and immunohistochemistry for TNF-α. Mean percentages of total wound healing, epithelialization, and wound contraction were not significantly different between control and treatment groups. In treated horses, initial wound expansion was significantly decreased during the first 2 weeks. Mononuclear cell numbers, counted in the granulation tissue, increased in both control and treated limbs over the entire course of the study. However at day 35 the macrophage numbers counted in the treated horses were significantly increased compared with the control limbs (P < .05). Although not statistically significant, relative staining for type III collagen in the treated wounds was less than that of control wounds. Results of the present study do not support a benefit of an exogenous HA-derivative in the healing of distal limb wounds in horses. The shortcomings of the study design are discussed. 相似文献

Four Rhododendron hybridum plants (from cvs Moravanka and Don Juan), all exhibited symptoms of shortened axillary shoots, reduced leaves with
vein clearing and yellowing, undeveloped flowers, and general stunting in a rhododendron nursery garden in southern Bohemia
in 2007. Electron microscopy examination of ultra-thin sections revealed the presence of numerous polymorphic phytoplasma-like
bodies in the phloem tissue of leaf midribs and petioles. The phytoplasma etiology of this disease was further confirmed by
polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using universal phytoplasma primers. Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis
of amplification products obtained with a R16F2/R16R2 primer pair from all symptomatic plants indicated the presence of phytoplasma
from the 16SrVI-A subgroup. A detailed comparison of the amplified sequences and phylogenetic analysis confirmed that the
phytoplasma belonged to the subgroup 16SrVI-A (clover proliferation phytoplasma group). This is the first report of the natural
occurrence of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma trifolii’ in plants of Rhododendron hybridum. 相似文献
