Three new varieties of Passiflora hybrids were developed from crosses between P. sublanceolata J. M. MacDougal (ex P. palmeri var. sublanceolata Killip) versus P. foetida var. foetida L. Twenty putative hybrids were analyzed. Hybridizations were confirmed by RAPD and SSR markers. The RAPD primer UBC11 (5′-CCGGCCTTAC-3′)
generated informative bands. The SSR primer A08FP1 amplified species-specific fragments and heterozygote status was observed
with the two parent bands 240 and 280 bp. The molecular markers generated by primers were analyzed in terms of the presence
or absence of specific informative bands. The morphological characterization of the hybrids enabled their differentiation
into three groups, identified as: (1) Passiflora ‘Alva’, composed of five hybrid plants with white flowers, large corona, light purple filaments at base, white and purple/white
banding to apex; (2) P. ‘Aninha’, composed of six hybrid plants with pale pink flowers, corona filaments reddish/purple at base, white, purple/white
banding to apex; (3) P. ‘Priscilla’, composed of nine hybrid plants with white flowers, small corona, filaments dark purple at base, white and purple
to apex. The genomic homology of parent plants was verified by cytogenetic analysis. Both parents were 2n = 22. Meiosis was regular in genitors and hybrids. Aneuploidy was observed at hybrid groups P. ‘Alva’ and P. ‘Priscilla’ (2n = 20). Other authors had already observed the same number of chromosomes for some P. foetida genotypes. Obtaining valuable interspecific hybrids opens up new perspectives to offer opportunities in agribusiness for

The Lycopersicon hirsutum var. hirsutum accession PI 127826 is recognized as a good source of resistance to arthropod pests due to the action of the allelochemical
zimgiberene, a sesquiterpene present in its glandular trichomes. Five genotypes were selected from the F2 generation of the interspecific cross Lycopersicon esculentum ‘TOM-556’ × Lycopersicon hirsutum var. hirsutum ‘PI 127826’, based on their low levels (BPX-368-clone#56) or high levels(BPX-368-clone#92, BPX-368-clone#105,BPX-368-clone#179,
BPX-368-clone#250) of zingiberene. The five F2 genotypes were tested for resistance to the South American tomato pinworm Tuta absolutaalong with accession L. esculentum ‘TOM-556’ (pinworm susceptible), and the accessions L. hirsutum var. hirsutum ‘PI 127826’ and L. pennellii ‘LA716’ (resistant). The F2 clones selected for high foliar zingiberene levels showed lower scores for leaflet lesion type(LLT), percent leaflets attacked
(PLA) and overall plant damage (OPD) than the low zingiberene genotypes. The results indicated that zingiberene mediates resistance
to the South American pinworm, based on feeding and on ovipositing deterrence, in populations derived from the interspecific
cross between Lycopersicon. esculentum and Lycopersicon hirsutum var. hirsutum. Indirect selection for high foliar zingiberene content is suggested as an efficient technique for breeding tomatoes for
resistance to the South American tomato pinworm.

Lysine is an essential amino acid synthesized in plants via the aspartic acid pathway. The catabolism of lysine is performed by the action of two consecutive enzymes, lysine 2-oxoglutarate reductase (LOR, EC 1.5.1.8) and saccharopine dehydrogenase (SDH, EC 1.5.1.9). The final soluble lysine concentration in cereal seeds is controlled by both synthesis and catabolism rates. The production and characterization of high-lysine plants species depends on knowledge of the regulatory aspects of lysine metabolism and manipulation of the key enzymes. We have for the first time isolated, partially purified, and characterized LOR and SDH from developing sorghum seeds, which exhibited low levels of activity. LOR and SDH were only located in the endosperm and were very unstable during the isolation and purification procedures. LOR and SDH exhibited some distinct properties when compared to the enzymes isolated from other plant species, including a low salt concentration required to elute the enzymes during anion-exchange chromatography and the presence of multimeric forms with distinct molecular masses. 相似文献

Eugenia uniflora and Clusia hilariana seedlings were submitted to simulated acid rain, pH 3, for 40 days. The degree of visible injury and the anatomical and micromorphological alterations were determined 24 hours after the last simulation. E. uniflora presented a higher degree of leaf necrosis. The adaxial epidermis and part of the palisade parenchyma of the entire leaf blade were affected and hypertrophy, hyperplasia and cicatrization tissue differentiation occurred. Erosion and morphological modification of the epicuticular wax and alterations in the epidermis were detected on the upper and lower leaf surfaces. Stomata with deformed ostioles and rupture of the stomatal ledge were observed. C. hilariana presented necrosis in leaf margin and in abaxial leaf surface, showing collapsed cells or with plasmolized aspect, cicatrization tissue, epicuticular wax alterations, occasional leaf perforations, irregular arrangement of adaxial epidermis cells and twisted subsidiary cells. The structural alterations indicated a greater susceptibility of E. uniflora to acid rain. he lower sensibility of C. hilariana can be related with the anatomical characteristics as: thick cuticle with evident cuticular flanges, three layers of hypodermis and mesophyll more thick and compact. 相似文献

shape Byrsonima sericea DC. (Malpighiaceae), shape Cordia verbenacea DC. (Boraginaceae) and shape Psidium guineense SW. (Myrtaceae) were studied in two experimental sites: a restinga forest fragment, near an iron pelletization factory (mining area) and a restinga conservation unit “Paulo César Vinha State Park”. The aims were verify the effects of emissions from a pelletization factory on some anatomical and physiological parameters and on absorption and accumulation of particulate iron by the leaves. A protocol was adjusted using Prussian blue reaction to histochemical detection of iron. Comparing the same species in two locals, shape C. verbenacea was the greatest accumulator of metallic iron, whereas shape B. sericea presented greater content of sulphur in mining area. The greater leaf contents of metallic iron may be related to the adhesion of the particles deposited on the leaves and to the characteristics of the covering tissue and the leaf. The foliar parameters evaluated in addition to soil analysis and atmospheric precipitation data indicated that the effects of particulate deposition occurred due foliar uptake. Structural characteristics such as peltate trichomes of leaf abaxial surface in shape B. sericea and hypodermis observed in shape B. sericea (one layer) and shape P. guineense (3--4 layers), probably formed a barrier lessening the penetration of metallic iron into the mesophyll as evidenced by the lower iron leaf content and iron accumulation in trichomes observed in these two species. In leaves of shape C. verbenacea occurred a positive reaction for iron in trichomes, epidermic cells at both faces, stomata, some xylem cells, collenchyma and endodermis at the midrib, and mesophyll tissues. For most carnivore populations, territoriality is the regulating social system ultimately determined by food abundance and/or strife. However, in some food-based territorial felid species such as the jaguar (Panthera onca), the influence of food availability on territoriality remains unclear and may be lessened because of a tendency for individuals to occur at high densities across the landscape. We examined spatial organization and use of food in a population of jaguars in the southern region of the Pantanal, Brazil (2003-04). We predicted that if territoriality plays an important role in determining jaguar population dynamics, exclusive use of territories should be observed and thereby influence prey selection patterns. We determined that home range sizes were comparable between sexes and overlapped little at the core area level. Line transect surveys revealed that large mammals comprised the bulk of available wild prey for jaguars, and scat analysis indicated that jaguars relied mostly on large mammalian prey. The most common wild species killed by jaguars were capybara (Hydrochaeris hydrochaeris) and caiman (Caiman yacare). We estimated that the wild prey base was adequate to support the jaguar population. Larger wild prey species were considerably more likely to die from predation than from other causes, and predation was more likely to occur in jaguar core areas than in areas of home range overlap. Modest cattle depredation rates had little demographic importance to the local jaguar population. We conclude that spacing patterns in the local jaguar population were likely based on exclusion through territoriality rather than food limitation. 相似文献

Three experiments (exp.) were conducted to determine and compare the digestibility of nutrients and energy of corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) from the United States (USDDGS), a dried mixture of corn bran with solubles (CBS) from Brazil (BRCBS), and high protein corn distillers dried grains (HP-DDG) from the United States (USHPDG) and Brazil (BRHPDG) in growing pigs. The feed ingredients were evaluated for apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of gross energy (GE), dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ether extract, neutral and acid detergent fiber (NDF and ADF, respectively), and digestible and metabolizable energy (DE and ME, respectively) using the total collection and index methods in exp. 1; ATTD and standardized total tract digestibility (STTD) of phosphorus (P) in exp. 2; and apparent (AID) and standardized (SID) ileal digestibilities of CP and amino acids (AA) in exp. 3. Fifty crossbred barrows (32.4 ± 6.9, 38.3 ± 5.2, and 46.2 ± 5.3 kg body weight [BW], in exp. 1, 2, and 3, respectively) were fed a corn basal diet in exp. 1, a P-free diet in exp. 2, and an N-free diet in exp. 3 or diets with 40% inclusion of test ingredients to provide 10 replications per treatment. Pigs were housed individually in metabolism cages (exp. 1) or in pens (exp. 2 and 3) and fed at 2.8 times the maintenance DE requirement (110 kcal/kg BW0.75) based on their BW at the beginning of each experiment. Except for ATTD of NDF, which tended (P = 0.058) to be greater by the index method compared with the total collection method, no difference between the total collection and index methods was observed for ATTD of remaining nutrients and DE. The ATTD of DM, GE, NDF, and DE content of BRHPDG were greater (P < 0.001) than USHPDG, BRCBS, and USDDGS. The AID of CP, Arg, His, Ile, Leu, Lys, Thr, and Val and the SID of His, Leu, Lys, and Val of BRHPDG were 8% to 36% greater (P < 0.05) than those from USHPDG. Except for Trp, all AID and SID AA values were greater (P < 0.05) in BRHPDG than in USHPDG. The ATTD of DM, GE, NDF, and ADF; DE and ME content; AID of CP, Arg, Ile, Leu, Phe, Thr, and Trp; and SID of CP, Arg, Phe, and Thr of USDDGS were 9% to 45% greater (P < 0.05) than those in BRCBS. The ATTD and the STTD of P in USHPDG and USDDGS were 26% to 42% greater (P < 0.05) compared with BRHPDG and BRCBS. In conclusion, BRHPDG had a greater digestibility of energy and most of the AA than USHPDG, while the BRCBS evaluated had lower nutritional value than the USDDGS source. 相似文献
