14C-labelled maleic hydrazide (MH) was added to each of three soils at a concentration of 4 mg kg?1, and its degradation measured by the release of 14CO2 after 2 days. Between 1 and 30°C, at a constant moisture content (full field capacity), the mean degradation rate increased by a factor of 3 for each temperature increment of 10°C (Q10 = 3). The mean activation energy was 78 kJ mol?1. Above 35°C, the degradation rate decreased.At soil moisture contents between wilting point and 80–90% of field capacity, the degradation rate doubled with an increase in moisture content of 50% of field capacity (constant temperature, 25°C). Above field capacity, the degradation rate was either unchanged or decreased. Below wilting point the degradation was very slow, even after 2 months.The rate of decomposition of MH at all temperatures and moisture contents was lowest in the soil with the highest content of organic matter and the lowest clay content. This soil had the highest Freundlich K value, and presumably adsorbed MH the most strongly, although the lower clay content may also play a role in the lower decomposing capacity of this soil.  相似文献

Dekoko (Pisum sativum var. abyssinicum) has high appreciation for its taste and obtains a premium price in local markets compared to Ater (Pisum sativum var. sativum). However, data on the physicochemical traits of Dekoko seeds were lacking. This paper reports on the physicochemical features of Dekoko and compares the results with that of Ater. Seed weight and seed volume were 36 and 30%, respectively, higher in Ater, while water absorption, percent seed swelling, and percent husk were higher in Dekoko. Cooking time was shorter for Dekoko than Ater seeds. Decortication reduced cooking time on average by 39 and 45 min in Dekoko and Ater, respectively. Cotyledon flour of Dekoko contained 251 g crude protein, 19 g fat, 31.7 g total sugars, 370 g starch, and 130 g neutral detergent fiber per kilogram DM. These traits were significantly higher in Dekoko than in Ater, except for starch, which was higher in the latter. Arginine, asparagine, and glutamine occurred in larger proportions, and collectively contributed about 39% to the total amino acids in both varieties. Lysine contributed about 7%, while sulfur containing amino acids constituted about 3.0 and 2.3% of the total amino acids in Dekoko and Ater, respectively. Ca and Mg were higher in Ater, while P was higher in Dekoko. Based on the observations it was concluded that Dekoko is a suitable supplementary protein source for a cereal-based diet.  相似文献

Genetic- and environmental variation and correlation patterns were characterized for modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR) and related wood traits: latewood proportion, wood density, spiral grain, microfibril angle and lignin content in five full-sib families of Norway spruce. The families were evaluated on the basis of clearwood specimens from the juvenile -mature wood transition zone of 93 sampled trees at age 30 year from seed. Family-means varied significantly (p < 0.05) for all wood traits studied except lignin content. MOE varied between 7.9–14.1 GPa among trees and 9.4–11.0 GPa among families. MOR varied between 47–87 MPa among trees and 61–71 MPa among families. Families remained significantly different in an analysis of specific MOE (MOE/density) and MOR (MOR/density). Hence, solely relying on wood density as a wood quality trait in tree breeding would not fully yield the potential genetic gain for MOE and MOR. Correlations between wood structural traits and specific MOE and MOR are presented and discussed.  相似文献

Experiments were conducted to evaluate potato late blight forecasting models in Norway during 1994-1999. Various adjustments of the Førsund rules (FØR) and the NEGFRY model were compared with routine fungicide applications. In the small plot experiments ( n =25) only the fungicide fluazinam was used, but in the large plot experiments ( n =13) several fungicides were included according to farmers' practice. A total of seven cultivars were included in the experiments, Beate and Saturna being the principal ones. Generally, fungicide treatments applied in accordance with the straightforward FØR provided acceptable control of leaf and tuber blight. Using forecast techniques, the number of treatments was reduced by 25-50% compared to routine treatments without causing significantly more disease. There were no significant differences in late blight control and treatment frequency between forecasts based on FØR, using historical weather data, and NEGFRY, using historical weather data and weather prognoses. The implications of the new pathogen population, cultivar resistance and farmers' acceptance of fungicide application being related to use of forecasts are discussed.  相似文献

Increasing adsorption of [14C]-labelled carbendazim in soil took place within a few weeks of incubation and was greatest in soil with a high organic matter content. Carbendazim was slowly decomposed in soil, mainly by soil microorganisms. After 250 days of incubation in two unsterilised soils, 13 and 5% respectively of added [14C]-carbendazim was recovered compared with 70 and 50% respectively from sterile soils; 4–8% of added carbendazim was recovered as 2-aminobenzimidazole (2-AB) from both unsterilised and sterile soil. After 270 days' incubation, 33 and 9% of 14C was recovered as 14CO2 from soil supplied with [14C]-carbendazim (20 and 100 mg/kg) respectively. Degradation started more rapidly when carbendazim was added to soil preincubated with the fungicide but the degradation rate was very low in all cases, indicating that the compound is a poor microbial energy source and that the degradation is a co-metabolic process. 2-AB was found as a degradation product although it appeared to be unstable in soil, decomposing rapidly after a lag period of about 3 weeks; small amounts remained in the soil for several months, however, presumably adsorbed on soil particles.  相似文献

Chemical analyses of daily precipitation samples from “background” stations in Europe are discussed together with measurements of airborne SO2 and sulphate aerosol, and trends in energy usage and SO2 emissions. Emission sources contributing to the major part of the concentrations of sulphate and nitrate in precipitation are mostly 500 to 1000 km from the receptor area. Although there are no general statistically significant trends in the precipitation chemistry data, minor changes point to an effect of reduced S02 emissions in some areas. The daily data can be used to infer general conclusions with respect to precipitation scavenging efficiency.  相似文献
