The content of organosulfur compounds was determined in selected garlic cultivars grown at four locations in Andalusia, Spain. The organosulfur compounds studied were three γ-glutamyl peptides, namely, γ-l-glutamyl-S-(2-propenyl)-l-cysteine (GSAC), γ-l-glutamyl-S-(trans-1-propenyl)-l-cysteine (GSPC), and γ-l-glutamyl-S-methyl-l-cysteine (GSMC), and four cysteine sulfoxides (alliin, isoalliin, methiin, and cycloalliin). There was a significant effect of the location, cultivar, and garlic ecotype on individual organosulfur compound contents. Purple-type cultivars showed on average the highest contents of GSMC, GSAC, alliin, and methiin but the lowest isoalliin content. The impact of genotype was relatively high for GSAC, whereas this factor hardly contributed to the total variability in alliin and isoalliin content. Planting date had a significant effect on the content of alliin and isoalliin. Discriminant analysis evidenced the ability of organosulfur compounds to distinguish among garlic bulbs from different locations or ecotypes with 81 or 86% accuracy, respectively. 相似文献

Mexico is considered by different international organizations as a country where the bovine tuberculosis is an endemic problem. However, there are important and consistent improvements in eradicating the disease by the implementation of government policies and with the livestock organization support. The current situation of the program shows good results regarding decreasing the prevalence, and as a consequence, the risk of this disease for public health and animal health, as well as the improvement in animal production and international and national trade. Today, the bovine tuberculosis distribution is almost known in Mexico. The contents of total phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and phenolic acids were determined in selected garlic cultivars grown
at four locations. The total phenolic content varied from 3.4 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/g of dry matter (dm) to 10.8 mg
GAE/g of dm with a mean value of 6.5 mg GAE/g of dm. The myricetin, quercetin, kaempferol, and apigenin flavonoids were not
detected in any of the samples. Caffeic acid and ferulic acid were the major phenolic acids found with mean values of 2.9 mg/kg
of dm and 2.6 mg/kg of dm, respectively. The mean contents of vanillic, p-hydroxybenzoic, and p-coumaric acids were comparable (0.4–0.8 mg/kg of dm), and the level of sinapic acid was negligible (< 0.1 mg/kg of dm). There
was a significant effect of location but an insignificant effect of genotype on contents of caffeic, vanillic, p-hydroxybenzoic, and p-coumaric acids. However, genotype but not location affected the contents of total phenolics and ferulic acid. On average,
the white garlic cultivars and Chinese garlic cultivars contained higher contents of total phenolics and ferulic acid than

It has been suggested that oxidative stress activates various intracellular signaling pathways leading to secretion of a variety of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. SHP-1 is a protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) which acts as a negative regulator of immune cytokine signaling. However, intracellular hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)), generated endogenously upon stimulation and exogenously from environmental oxidants, has been known to be involved in the process of intracellular signaling through inhibiting various PTPs, including SHP-1. In this study, we investigated the potential role of astaxanthin, an antioxidant marine carotenoid, in re-establishing SHP-1 negative regulation on pro-inflammatory cytokines secretion in U-937 cell line stimulated with oxidative stimulus. ELISA measurement suggested that ASTA treatment (10 μM) reduced pro-inflammatory cytokines secretion (IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α) induced through H(2)O(2), (100 μM). Furthermore, this property is elicited by restoration of basal SHP-1 protein expression level and reduced NF-κB (p65) nuclear expression, as showed by western blotting experiments. 相似文献

Susceptibility to chlorimuron varies according to soybean genotype. STS® (sulfonylurea-tolerant soybean) presents a high tolerance to some sulfonylureas; this feature is determined by semi-dominants alleles, Als1 and Als2. Experiments were conducted in the field for four seasons with two cultivars for season to evaluate the selectivity of chlorimuron rates in post-emergency (V4) of glyphosate-tolerant and sulfonylurea-tolerant soybean. Data analysis made it possible to infer that there was no significant effect on the productivity of the cultivars when they received application in post-emergency, of chlorimuron at the doses used (0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 g ai ha-1). The maximum recommended rate for non-STS cultivars of chlorimuron is 20 g ai ha-1, or 4.5 times less than the maximum rate employed in this study. The soybean cultivars CD 250 RR/STS, CD 236 RR/STS, CD 2630 RR/STS, and BMX Turbo RR/STS were tolerant to the application, in post-emergency (V4) of the herbicide chlorimuron, until the rate of 90 g ai ha-1. 相似文献

The sesquiterpene lactones (STLs) content of glandular trichomes from the leaves of twenty-five yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius, Asteraceae) accessions, obtained along a latitudinal gradient from Ecuador to northwest Argentina, was characterized by gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS). Homoatomic triple bonds between main-group elements have been restricted to alkynes, dinitrogen, and a handful of reactive compounds featuring trans-bent heavier elements of groups 13 and 14. Previous attempts to prepare a compound with a boron-boron triple bond that is stable at ambient temperature have been unsuccessful, despite numerous computational studies predicting their viability. We found that reduction of a bis(N-heterocyclic carbene)-stabilized tetrabromodiborane with either two or four equivalents of sodium naphthalenide, a one-electron reducing agent, yields isolable diborene and diboryne compounds. The effect of eight diets with different protein‐to‐energy ratios (P–E ratio=10, 11, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 mg kJ?1) on reproduction of female redclaw crayfish Cherax quadricarinatus was tested under laboratory conditions. After 75 days, there was a significant effect of the P–E ratio on final weight, spawning females and the number of juveniles per female. Using the broken‐line and quadratic equations, optimal values for the P–E ratio were: 16.0, 17.1 and 16.0 mg kJ?1. The P–E ratio significantly affected protein and carbohydrate content and energy in the hepatopancreas. The broken‐line model indicated that the respective recommended values of the P–E ratio for these parameters were: 21.8, 16.7 and 18.6 mg kJ?1. The concentration of carbohydrates and energy in muscle tended to significantly diminish as the P–E ratio increased. From broken‐line regression analysis, the recommended P–E ratio was 16.6 and 20.2 mg kJ?1 respectively. No significant differences were found in survival, fecundity, vitellin content in eggs, protein and lipid content in muscle and lipids in the hepatopancreas. We concluded that, overall, a P–E ratio of 18±2 mg kJ?1 is optimal for reproductive activity of female redclaw crayfish. 相似文献
