速生桂花新品种‘雨田绿桂’

‘雨田绿桂’是从银桂实生群体中选育出的速生新品种。新叶翠绿,成熟叶深绿色,叶厚革质,侧脉6~8对,两端渐尖。花期9月至10月上旬,花绿白色,花量中等,无果实。树体生长速度快,适应性广,适合安徽省及周边地区栽培。

Antimicrobial Resistance Profiles of Campylobacter spp. Isolated from Broiler Chicken Meat of Estonian,Latvian and Lithuanian Origin at Estonian Retail Level and from Patients with Severe Enteric Infections in Estonia

The resistance patterns of Campylobacter spp. isolated from retail broiler chicken meat originating either from Estonia, Lithuania or Latvia collected in Estonia were determined. Additionally, in collaboration with the laboratories of several Estonian hospitals, antimicrobial susceptibility patterns were determined for Campylobacter isolates from patients with severe Campylobacter enteric infections. The isolates were identified at the species level by the PCR method. Respectively, 88.8% of the isolates were C. jejuni, and 11.2% were C. coli. In total, 126 Campylobacter isolates of broiler chicken meat and human origin were tested for minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) with the broth microdilution VetMIC^TH method (National Veterinary Institute; Uppsala, Sweden) for a total of six antimicrobials. Resistance to one or more antimicrobials was detected in 62 (63.3%) of Campylobacter broiler chicken meat isolates and in 20 (71.4%) of human‐origin isolates. Large proportions of the broiler chicken meat isolates were resistant to ciprofloxacin (60.2%). Multidrug resistance (i.e. to three or more unrelated antimicrobials) was detected in five (5.1%) C. jejuni isolates. Among the human isolates, 20 (71.4%) were resistant to fluoroquinolones, and two (7.1%) C. jejuni isolates exhibited multidrug resistance. The chicken meat isolates of Estonian origin were the most susceptible. However, a high proportion of fluoroquinolone‐resistant C. jejuni isolates were found in Latvian and Lithuanian products. The results of this study indicate that the problems caused by the inappropriate use of antimicrobials extend beyond the country in which a food originates; therefore, both domestic and international interventions and agreements are required to implement common policies on antimicrobial usage and to minimize the emergence of Campylobacter drug resistance.     

Dynamics of Desorption of Labile Potassium from Chernozems

The dynamics of desorption of the easily exchangeable and nonexchangeable potassium (K) have been studied in chernozem samples taken from a field trial with a single-time application of different rates of potassium fertilizers after a long period of the absence of fertilizers in Voronezh oblast. The desorption of the easily exchangeable K is adequately described by the zero-order equation of reaction; several mechanisms participate in it. The reaction rate constant regularly increases with an increase in the rate of applied K fertilizer. Taking into account the high correlation between the amounts of K released into the soil solution and absorbed by plants in the course of the dynamic experiments, we may conclude about a significant improvement of plant nutrition conditions even in the case of a single application of K fertilizer at a small rate. The desorption of nonexchangeable K is approximated by the equation of irreversible reaction of the first order. The parameters of this equation, as well as of the equation of diffusion and of the Elovich equation, do not change in dependence on the rate of applied K fertilizer. The reaction rate constants in the equations of the first and zero orders describing the desorption of nonexchangeable and easily exchangeable K from chernozems are three to five times higher than those for soddy-podzolic soils and other soils of humid regions. This can be explained by the differences in the number and nature of exchange centers in the organic matter and on clay minerals of these soils.

Assessment of factors influencing changes in <Superscript>137</Superscript>Cs contamination density of agricultural lands

A comparative analysis of predictive estimates of the ¹³⁷Cs contamination level of agricultural lands with real measurement data is given for the example of southern districts of the Kaluga oblast that suffered from the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Predictive calculations based on consideration of only radionuclide decay are sufficiently reliable; however, for greater accuracy it is necessary to take into consideration the amount of agrotechnical protective measures being carried out.

Synthesis and juvenile hormone activity of benzimidazolylterpenes possessing a 2,7-dimethyloctane skeleton

Benzimidazolylterpenes, possessing a 2,7-dimethyloctane skeleton showed IGR-activity on pupae of Tenebrio molitor L in laboratory tests: N-(7-methoxy-2,7-dimethyl-2-octenyl)benzimidazole showed the greatest activity.
