Glial cells express a variety of neurotransmitter receptors. Notably, Bergmann glial cells in the cerebellum have Ca2+-permeable alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA)-type glutamate receptors (AMPARs) assembled without the GluR2 subunit. To elucidate the role of these Ca2+-permeable AMPARs, we converted them into Ca2+-impermeable receptors by adenoviral-mediated delivery of the GluR2 gene. This conversion retracted the glial processes ensheathing synapses on Purkinje cell dendritic spines and retarded the removal of synaptically released glutamate. Furthermore, it caused multiple innervation of Purkinje cells by the climbing fibers. Thus, the glial Ca2+-permeable AMPARs are indispensable for proper structural and functional relations between Bergmann glia and glutamatergic synapses.  相似文献

We evaluated growth performance and metabolic responses in Nile tilapia (Oreochromic niloticus) juveniles (30.2 ± 0.9 g) subjected to 1 (F1), 2 (F2), or 3 weeks (F3) of fasting and then refed for 10 weeks (10WR) compared to controls (FC), which were fed for the full 13-week trial. Weight gain and specific growth rate (SGR) during fasting were lower in all treatments compared to the FC. However, during refeeding, feed intake/body mass and SGR increased in F1, F2, and F3, inducing partial compensatory growth. The hepatosomatic index (HSI), visceral fat index (VFI), liver glycogen (LG), and carcass lipid levels dropped in all fasted fish compared to FC (P < 0.05), showing a depletion of stored nutrients such as fat and LG. Along with LG, fat reserves were mobilized during fasting to maintain basal metabolism and survival, but these energy constituents returned to control levels at 10WR, at which time HSI was higher in all refed fish compared to FC. Additionally, the variables VFI, LG, and lipid in carcass increased in all refed fish, equaling those of FC at 10WR. The results showed that, in contrast with other protocols that used smaller tilapia juveniles, the feeding strategies utilized for Nile tilapia juveniles in this study (1 to 3 weeks of fasting and 10WR) were able to induce only partial compensatory growth. It can be concluded that in situations that require complete food restriction in juvenile Nile tilapia (30 g), an acceptable strategy is to limit the period of fasting to 1 week or less to minimize losses and to achieve partial compensatory growth.  相似文献

This study was conducted to determine the effect of pelleting on in situ dry matter degradability of pelleted compound feed containing brown rice for dairy cows. Mash feed of the same composition was used as a control and the in situ study was conducted using three non‐lactating Holstein steers fitted with a rumen cannula. The feeds contained 32.3% brown rice, 19.4% rapeseed meal, 11.4% wheat bran and 10.6% soybean meal (fresh weight basis). Except for moisture content, the chemical composition of the feed was not affected by pelleting. In situ dry matter disappearance of the feed increased from 0 to 2 h and after 72 h of incubation with pellet processing. Integration of the dry matter disappearance values over time revealed that degradability parameter a (soluble fraction) increased with pellet processing, whereas parameter b (potentially degradable fraction) decreased. Parameter c (fractional rate of degradation) and effective degradability (5% passage rate) were not affected by pellet processing. We concluded that pellet processing promotes rumen degradability at early incubation hours when the pelleted feed contains brown rice.  相似文献

The objective of the present research was to assess the functional properties of the starches isolated from Australian prime hard wheat (PH) and hard red winter wheat (HRW) in the United States. These wheats are favorably used in Japan for the production of Chinese yellow-alkaline noodles (YAN). Starches isolated from PH showed higher amylose content than those of noodle wheat but lower than bread wheat. Analysis of swelling power showed that PH starch had lower values than noodle wheat starches but higher values than bread wheat starches. By contrast, HRW starch showed relatively higher amylose content and lower swelling power. There were large differences in the starch pasting properties between PH and HRW. High-performance size-exclusion chromatography studies on the components leached from the starch (80°C, 20 min) showed that PH starch had a somewhat characteristic leaching profile. Its peak ratio of high molecular weight region to low molecular weight region was greater than that of HRW starch. PH starch also characterized by having lower endothermal enthalpy (ΔH) in amylose-lipid transition. The eating quality assessment for YAN revealed that PH had more elastic texture than HRW. Additional reconstitution studies showed that these quality differences could be attributable to its starch properties.  相似文献
