Intraoperative cefazolin concentrations were measured in serum, joint capsule, cancellous bone of the acetabulum, and proximal cancellous bone of the femur in 15 dogs undergoing total hip replacement. Cefazolin (22 mg/kg intravenously [IV]) was administered every hour for three doses. The mean peak serum concentrations (+/- SEM) were 387.79 +/- 27.56 micrograms/mL, 521.71 +/- 28.00 micrograms/mL, and 542.20 +/- 30.91 micrograms/mL, respectively. Mean serum concentrations just before administration of doses 2 and 3 were 51.77 +/- 2.39 micrograms/mL, and 64.84 +/- 3.46 micrograms/mL, respectively. The mean cefazolin concentrations in the joint capsule, cancellous bone of the acetabulum, and cancellous bone of the femur were 34.71 +/- 2.50 micrograms/g, 28.70 +/- 7.40 micrograms/g, and 36.20 +/- 3.80 micrograms/g, respectively. The minimum inhibitory concentration of cefazolin for 90% of the common contaminants (MIC90) in this clinic is less than or equal to 2 micrograms/mL or per gram of tissue. Serum concentrations never fell below 15 times the MIC90 (lowest trough, 35.93 micrograms/mL), and the lowest tissue concentration (6.57 micrograms/mL in cancellous bone from the acetabulum) was still more than 3 times the MIC90. Bilateral subchondral bone cysts of the femoral condyles were diagnosed by conventional radiography in a 14 month old Appaloosa colt. Surgical debridement was performed, and over the next 18 months the appearance of the cysts was evaluated with radiography and bone scintigraphy. On the preoperative scintigrams, increased radiopharmaceutical uptake was associated with the cysts. Despite continued radiographic enlargement, the cysts did not demonstrate increased radiopharmaceutical uptake post-operatively. 相似文献

In a blind clinical trial, adverse effects after iohexol and iopamidol myelography were evaluated in 151 dogs. Eighty-one dogs were given iohexol (240 mgI/ml) and 70 dogs were given iopamidol (200 mgI/ml) by pre-determined assignment. Each dog was evaluated postmyelographically for seizures, hyperthermia, prolonged recovery from anesthesia and intensification of pre-existing neural signs. Myelographic quality was evaluated with a subjective scoring method. In comparing iohexol and iopamidol groups, there was not a statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse effects or in myelographic quality. The accuracy of thermodilution for measuring flow rates of 10–40 L/min was evaluated using a commercially available thermodilution cardiac output computer in an in vitro model. Water (36.5–37.5°C) was directed through a mixing chamber via a constant flow pump. Thermodilution estimates of flow using four different volumes (10, 20, 30, 40 ml) of iced water injectate were compared to simultaneous measurements of timed samples of effluent from the mixing chamber. Injectate volume had a significant impact on the accuracy of thermodilution estimation (p < 0.05). Thermodilution overestimated measured flow when 10 and 20 ml of injectate were used to determine flow rates < 20 L/min but underestimated flow when injectate volumes of 30 and 40 ml were used, or when measured flow was > 25 L/min. The discrepancy between thermodilution flow and measured flow increased as rate of fluid flow increased. 相似文献

A double L-shaped intestinal cannula was developed in an attempt to overcome problems observed previously with simple T-type cannulas. The cannula was constructed from cyclopolyvinyl chloride water pipe fittings. Construction materials were fairly rigid, but by connecting the split cannula pieces with elastic castration bands the cannula had some flexibility. Placing a short cone over the exposed cannula barrel reduced mechanical damage to the intestine. The double L cannula required a much smaller incision in the intestine during surgical insertion than a T-type cannula; it also simplified replacement. Construction is described; use and performance of the cannula has been satisfactory. 相似文献
