The antiproliferative and colony inhibiting activities of recombinant feline interferon (rFeIFN Type I) against various cells in vitro were examined. Feline and canine cells were both sensitive to rFeIFN. To inhibit the growth of feline cells by 50% approximately 5 x 10(2) to 1 x 10(3) U/mL rFeIFN was required and maximum activity was achieved at a concentration of 1 x 10(5) U/mL. Approximately 5 x 10(3) to 5 x 10(4) U/mL rFeIFN was necessary to inhibit the growth of canine cells by 50%. The antiproliferative and colony inhibiting activities of rFeIFN on canine cells appeared to be cell-specific and dose-dependent. However, human, monkey and hamster cells were resistant to rFeIFN. We suggest that rFeIFN might be useful for treatment of feline and some canine neoplastic conditions.  相似文献

A Japanese black calf with cyanosis, tachycardia, tachypnea and systolic murmur died of hypoxemia and cardiac insufficiency on the 38th day after birth. We could not establish the diagnosis during it's life. However, anatomically corrected malposition (ACM) with ventricular septal defect was confirmed at autopsy. There was situs solitus of the viscera and atria with atrio-ventricular discordance and ventriculo-arterial concordance. The ventricles demonstrated l-loop, i.e. on the right-sided ventricle there was a markedly enlarged morphologic left ventricle, and on the left-sided ventricle there was a hypoplastic morphologic right ventricle with a stenotic tricuspid valve and Ebstein-like deformity. The right posterior aorta originated from the left ventricle. The pulmonary artery arose from the left-sided right ventricle via infundibulum. There was a fibrous continuity between the aortic and mitral valve. We considered that this is the first reported case of bovine ACM.  相似文献

The relationship between cerebral lesions such as amyloid angiopathy or senile plaques and amyloid deposition in the visceral organs were studied in 90 autopsy cases of dogs, 0 to 19-year-old. Cerebral amyloid angiopathy was detected in 28 aged dogs (mean age: 13.7-year-old) and was found mostly in or around the wall of cerebral meningeal arterioles and capillaries of the neocortex. That condition was often accompanied by cerebral hemorrhage in dogs more than 9 years of age. Senile plaques were detected in the neocortex of the brain of 12 dogs (mean age: 13.2-year-old) and classified into 3 subtypes, i.e., "diffuse plaque", "primitive plaque" and "classical plaque". Among those 3 subtypes of senile plaques, amyloid containing plaques were small in number. In the visceral organs of dogs with cerebral amyloid angiopathy, amyloid deposition was found in the vascular walls or connective tissues of small intestines at a high frequency and sometimes in the vascular walls of the heart, lung, liver and thyroid gland as well as in atrioventricular valves. Amyloid in both cerebral and visceral organs was congophilic and showed green birefringence under poralized light even after potassium permanganate oxidation.  相似文献

Immunization of chickens was attempted with low levels of Eimeria tenella oocysts (50 oocysts per day) over the first 1 or 2 weeks of life--the "trickle infection" (TI) method. When chickens were immunized by TI at 0-13 days of age, no cecal lesions and a reduced number of oocysts in ceca were observed after challenge at 17 days of age. TI at 0-6 days of age conferred better protection against challenge with E. tenella than did TI at 7-13 days. However, cecal lesions were observed in almost all of these chickens. These findings indicated that TI for 2 weeks (0-13 days of age) provided better immunity than TI for 1 week (0-6 or 7-13 days of age).  相似文献

Translocation and accumulation in the head appears to be a zero-order function. Nereistoxin suppressed the excitatory actions of α- and γ-BHC and HEOD in the central nervous system of Periplaneta americana (L.). However, it did not affect the neurotoxic action of DDT and DBrDT. Since nereistoxin is an acetylcholine antagonist, it is postulated that BHC and HEOD act to produce high level of acetylcholine and the resulting after-discharges, while DDT and DBrDT seem to attack the noncholinergic region of insect nervous system.  相似文献

Tumors at the cranial base in 2 cats (a 9 1/2-year-old, castrated male Chinchilla and a 7-year-old, castrated male American Shorthair) were diagnosed as malignant craniopharyngioma. The tumor lesion was histopathologically divided into four parts: 1) a small acinus part, in which relatively large cells with a pale cytoplasm composed small acini; 2) a duct part, in which small cuboidal cells composed ducts; 3) a cyst part, in which there were large cysts lined with flat cells; and 4) a pavement part, in which large multi-angular-shaped cells proliferated in a pavement pattern. The epithelial cells of some parts were positive for keratin by immunohistochemistry. Histopathologic findings of the present feline cases were identical to those of malignant craniopharyngioma in other animal species.  相似文献

Serial sera from four mongrel cats experimentally inoculated with infectious larvae of Dirofilaria immitis were analyzed by immunoblot patterns against a phosphate buffered saline-extract of D. immitis. Antigen-specific protein bands detected indicate that the low molecular weight bands of 36, 32, 22, 19 and 14 kDa, are predictable for positive adult worm infection, suggesting diagnostic usefulness for adult D. immitis infection in cats.  相似文献

ABSTRACT Ceratocystis fimbriata is a complex of many cryptic, host-specialized species that causes wilt and canker of woody species and rot diseases of storage roots and corms of many economically important plants worldwide. With the exception of the family Araceae, all confirmed hosts of C. fimbriata are dicotyledonous plants. We hypothesized that the isolates from members of the family Araceae would form a monophyletic lineage specialized to infect these unique hosts. Analyses of sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear rDNA indicate that isolates and herbarium specimens of C. fimbriata from the family Araceae represent three different groups: an Xanthosoma/Syngonium group on corms of Xanthosoma spp. from the Caribbean region and on ornamental S. podophyllum from greenhouses in Florida, Hawaii, Australia, and Brazil; an inhame group on corms of Colocasia esculenta in Brazil; and a distantly related taro group on Colocasia esculenta in Hawaii and China and on X. sagittifolium in Fiji. Inoculations of three species of Araceae (Caladium bicolor, S. podophyllum, and Colocasia esculenta) showed that isolates from all three groups are pathogenic to these three hosts. Brazilian isolates from Mangifera indica and Ficus carica were only weakly pathogenic to Caladium and Syngonium sp. and were not pathogenic to Colocasia sp. Syngonium plants appeared to be most susceptible to isolates of the Xanthosoma/Syngonium group, and Colocasia plants were least susceptible to isolates from Syngonium spp. Thus, it appears that adaptations to the family Araceae have evolved more than once in the C. fimbriata complex. It is hypothesized that the three groups of C. fimbriata on the family Araceae are native to the Caribbean, Brazil, and Asia, respectively, but they have been spread elsewhere by humans.  相似文献
