Novel synthetic Obiopeptide (Obi-1), Glycil-penta-Glutamate, as an immunoregulator, injected intramuscularly to methylcholanthrene (MC) induced tumour bearing mice at 30-100 micrograms per mouse weekly, significantly inhibited tumour growth, compared to that of the untreated control. Numbers of mononuclear cells (MNC) in the spleen obtained from Obi-1 treated and untreated mice were reduced to 64% and 10% of the normal levels, respectively. In histopathological findings, variations of MNC in the spleen was observed in colonies of large MNC and lymphocytes in Obi-1 treated red marrow, while untreated one showed only scattered number of small lymphocytes. A significant O2- production was noted in monolayers of normal macrophages incubated with 0.5 mg Obi-1/ml for 48 hr. Cytotoxicity of spleen MNC cultured with Obi-1 against MC-tumour, Meth A, P-815 and YAC-1 target cells showed less than 10% cytotoxic activity in almost all experiments. 相似文献

1. Reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase (NADH-DH) activity in the M. iliotibialis lateralis was compared histochemically among 7 breeds of cocks. This muscle was composed only of Type-IIA and -IIB fibres. 2. Apparent breed differences were observed in muscle development, the NADH-DH activity in every fibre type, fibre type distribution and fibre diameters. 3. Ruminant animals are able to convert plant materials (grain and the human‐indigestible portion of carbohydrates) to milk and meat. In this conversion, most of the plant materials are digested by rumen fermentation and are changed to short‐chain fatty acids, microbial cells, and methane, which is released into the atmosphere. The relationships among feed, rumen fermentation, and milk production are poorly understood. Here we report a novel indicator of characteristics of rumen fermentation, theoretical turnover rate (TTOR) of the rumen liquid fraction. The TTOR was calculated from the presumed rumen volume (PRV) which is estimated by dividing the methane yield by the methane concentration of rumen fluid. The formula for the TTOR is: TTOR = PRV/body weight0.75. Our present analyses confirm that the TTOR as an indicator is capable of connecting feed, rumen fermentation, and milk production, because dry matter intake/TTOR showed a strong correlation with milk yield/TTOR. In addition, the TTOR may be related to ruminal pH, as we observed that the ruminal pH decreased as the TTOR increased. We propose that the TTOR is a factor characterizing rumen fermentation and a good indicator of the productivity of ruminants and dysbiosis of the rumen microbiome. 相似文献

1. Two feeding experiments were conducted to determine the meta‐bolisable energy (ME) requirement of laying Japanese quail. Birds were fed to provide 5.5 g protein and 167, 209, 251 or 293 kJ ME/d.
2. As ME intake increased from 167 to 293 kJ egg production increased.

A 13‐month‐old female Toy Poodle was presented for progressive ataxia and intention tremors of head movement. The diagnosis of Sandhoff's disease (GM2 gangliosidosis) was confirmed by deficient β‐N‐acetylhexosaminidase A and B activity in circulating leukocytes and identification of the homozygous mutation (HEXB: c.283delG). White matter in the cerebrum and cerebellum was hyperintense on T2‐weighted and fluid‐attenuated inversion recovery magnetic resonance images. Over the next 2 years, the white matter lesions expanded, and bilateral lesions appeared in the cerebellum and thalamus, associated with clinical deterioration. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy showed progressive decrease in brain N‐acetylaspartate, and glycine‐myo‐inositol and lactate‐alanine were increased in the terminal clinical stage. The concentrations of myelin basic protein and neuron specific enolase in cerebrospinal fluid were persistently increased. Imaging and spectroscopic appearance correlated with histopathological findings of severe myelin loss in cerebral and cerebellar white matter and destruction of the majority of cerebral and cerebellar neurons. 相似文献

The high quality forest machines have recently become very popular in Japan. Many improvements on these machines have been
made to fit the Japanese forests. This report describes the improvement and evaluation of the feller-buncher head of the prototype
machine: FG-35. This head is mounted on the telescopic and knuckle-boom carrier. The prototype machine was improved to cut
the trees, felled down on the ground or felled side ways by the storm as in the Kyushu district. And also the machine was
improved so that it could be driven well without crashing the chainsaw-bar by the beginners. The testing operation of this
machine carried out in Sumita-chou in Iwate and in Kuzu-chou in Oita. The productivity of the machine can be estimated at
about 20 m3/h. The results of the improvement on the machine can be said to be good.

Nitrification inhibitory activity was found in root tissue extracts of Brachiaria humidicola, a tropical pasture grass. Two active inhibitory compounds were isolated by activity-guided fractionation, using recombinant Nitrosomonas europaea containing luxAB genes derived from the bioluminescent marine gram-negative bacterium Vibrio harveyi. The compounds were identified as methyl-p-coumarate and methyl ferulate, respectively. Their nitrification inhibitory properties were confirmed in chemically synthesized preparations of each. The IC50 values of chemically synthesized preparations were 19.5 and 4.4 microM, respectively. The ethyl, propyl, and butyl esters of p-coumaric and ferulic acids inhibited nitrification, whereas the free acid forms did not show inhibitory activity. 相似文献
