The present study was conducted to screen four okra varieties (Sabz Pari, Sada Bahar, Pusa Sawani, Arka Anamika) against bollworm, whitefly and jassid under field conditions during 2011. It was concluded that none of the tested variety had resistance against okra fruit borer. However, these varieties showed some degree of resistance against sucking insect pests. Okra variety Sada Bahar was less infested with jassid (1.30/leaf) and whitefly (5.36/leaf) compared to other tested varieties and resulted in maximum yield (1529.62 kgha–1). The plants of Sabz Peri variety attained maximum height (113.7 cm), which was statistically at par with 110.9 cm height attained by the plants of Arka Anamika. Number of fruits pods plant–1 was found non significantly different on all the tested okra varieties. On the basis of present findings, it was concluded that Sada Bahar variety is suitable for cultivation in Dera Ismail Khan and other parts of the country with similar environmental conditions. 相似文献

In this study, the invasive and noninvasive diagnotic tests were compared to choose the appropriate test for diagnostice of H. pylori infection. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a human pathogen that causes chronic gastritis, has a role in gastric and duodenal ulcer, is involved in gastric carcinogenesis and is regarded as a possible important factor in at least a subset of patients with functional dyspepsia. The diagnosis of H. pylori is an essential element in the management of many common gastrointestinal pathologies. The assessment of each routine invasive and noninvasive test is important. We studied a total of 127 outpatients for the detection of H. pylori infection. The presence of H. pylori infection by invasive tests containing the Rapid Urease Test (RUT), histology (Giemsa staining) and culture in 127 patients. Patients who were positive in culture, or two tests from four tests, invasive and noninvasive, were considered to have H. pylori infection. In noninvasive tests, we evaluated anti-H. pylori IgG and anti-CagA antibodies using commercial Enzyme-Linked Immunoassay (ELISA) and Western blot in dyspeptic patients. Eighty five out of the 127 patients were positive for H. pylori. Helicobacter pylori IgG seropositivity and 35 out of the 127 patients were positive for immunoblot. RUT had sensitivity, specifity and accuracy of 96, 80 and 90.5%, respectively; for Elisa these were 85.2, 33 and 70.5%, respectively and for ELISA with immunoblotting they were 65, 45 and 58.8%, respectively. The results of this study suggest that noninvasive tests (ELISA, immunoblotting) have the lowest and RUT with histology have the highest accuracy. Synthetic herbicides are posing problems owing to the development of weed resistance and emerging debate on their associated health hazards and ecological threats. Allelopathic manipulations are evolving as applicable substitutes for weed management in agroecosystems. In order to assess the efficacy of potential allelopathic water extracts from different plant species, field experiments were conducted during 2010 and 2011. Sorghum bicolor L., Helianthus annuus L., Brassica napus L., Oryza sativa L., Zea mays L. and Morus alba L. aqueous extracts in different combinations alone or along with a reduced dose of herbicide were evaluated for weed suppression in a maize crop. A weedy check and two herbicidal treatments, S‐metolachlor + atrazine (pre‐emergence) and atrazine alone (early postemergence), were included for comparison. Sorghum, brassica or sunflower tank‐mixed with 25% of the recommended dose of atrazine significantly suppressed the total weed density and dry biomass, along with a concomitant decrease in the crop resistance indices and treatment efficacy indices over the control. The weed density and dry biomass that were recorded at 60 days after sowing showed a strong negative correlation, while the leaf area index, crop growth rate, dry matter accumulation and net assimilation rate predicted a strong positive correlation, with the stover and grain yield of maize. 相似文献

The Euphorbia hirta ethanolic extract (EH A001) was found to possess a prominent anti-anaphylactic activity. A preventive effect of EH-A001 given by oral route at dose from 100 to 1000 mg/kg was observed against compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylaxis. At the same range of dose, EH-A001 inhibited passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) in rat and active paw anaphylaxis in mice. The most significant focal points of the embryo transfer technology are as follows: the selection of donors, the response of the selected donor to the superovulation protocol and the obtained number of the transferable embryos. For this purpose, it is suggested that donor selection can be done by anti‐Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels, and embryo production is evaluated. AMH is secreted by the granulosa cells of primordial, pre‐antral and antral follicles below 4 mm in the ovary, independent of FSH. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum AMH levels and the number of corpus luteum (CL), total embryos and transferable embryos that were shaped after a uniform superovulation protocol. For this reason, 48 Simmental cows, which were located at General Directory of Agricultural Enterprises (region, province, etc. instead of the general directorate), were used as donors for the embryo transfer. Blood samples were taken at random, regardless of the stage of animal's sexual cycle. AMH levels were measured by enzyme‐linked fluorescent assay (ELFA) method of the miniVIDAS® (bioMérieux SA) using AMH Bovine Test Kit. According to the statistical analyses of the obtained data, AMH levels were positively correlated with CL and total embryos (p < .05). No significant correlations between AMH and transferable embryos were approved (p > .05). It was also determined that each 200 pg/ml increase in serum AMH level resulted in one increase in CL number. Overall, considering the positive correlation between AMH level and the obtained number of CL and total embryos after a superovulation treatment, it was concluded that measuring blood AMH level prior to any further costly implementation may be an effective method in donor selection. 相似文献

The present work was conducted to study the comparative efficacy of two anti-protozoan (babesicidal) drugs on the recovery and health of horses. A total of 80 horses, showing typical clinical symptoms of the disease, were selected for this study; the presence of babesiosis was confirmed through blood smear examination. These animals were divided into two groups i.e. A and B. Horses of Group A, were treated with diminazene diaceturate, while horses of Group B were treated with diminazene aceturate. Efficacy of the drugs was determined by the reversal of clinical signs and a negative blood smear examination. The efficacy of diminazene diaceturate was demonstrated to be 80% while diminazene aceturate was found to have 90% efficacy against babesiosis. 相似文献

Plant regeneration ability was studied in the medicinal-ornamental plant, Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Sonata white’, which is a dicotyledonous recalcitrant plant to shoot induction. Cotyledons were used as sources of explants to investigate plant regeneration. High frequency of direct shoot induction was obtained when BA (5 mg/l) and AgNO3 (5 mg/l) were used in combination with 20 mg/l adenine sulphate (73.8%) in Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium. The highest shoot number per explant (5.7) was induced on MS medium supplemented with 5 mg/l BA, 5 mg/l AgNO3, and 40 mg/l adenine. Eight week-old shoots were transferred to root induction media containing MS and half-strength MS medium with different concentration of IBA. The highest rate of root induction (70.8%) was obtained on half-strength MS medium with 1.5 mg/l IBA within four weeks. The plantlets were transferred to pot and kept in the greenhouse condition. Seventy percent of the plantlets successfully acclimatised.

The cotton stainer, Dysdercus koenigii Fabricius (Hemiptera: Pyrrhcoridae), has become a major threat to transgenic cotton as it causes warts on the internal carpel wall of cotton boll, severe lint staining, lint locks, and lint lesions. Thus, keeping in view the importance of this pest on cotton, in the present study, screening of 13 transgenic cotton genotypes was performed and the population of D. koenigii was determined on these genotypes during 2012–13. Furthermore, among these genotypes, a high yielding advanced cultivar (FH-114) was selected for further experiments. A number of five different densities of D. koenigii (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25) at adult stage with well-developed proboscis were released in the cages along with a control treatment. Cotton genotypes FH-312, FH-2073, FH-Lalazar, FH-142, and MNH-886 possessed minimum population (1.33 D. koenigii per plant) compared to FH-324 and FH-444 (6.0 D. koenigii per plant). The number of bolls per plant and boll weight decreased as a result of increased densities. The increased density of D. koenigii resulted in fewer bolls per plant (12.1 bolls), reduced boll weight (2.1 g), germination (39.1%), ginning out turn (38.3%), staple length (27.8 mm), and staple fineness (4.0 μg/in.) when compared with un-infested plants (30.6, 3.2 g, 77.3%, 41.5%, 28.8 mm, and 4.4 μg/in.), respectively. Correlation analysis revealed that bolls per plant, boll weight, germination, ginning out turn, and staple fineness resulted in negative and significant correlation with density of D. koenigii with r-values of ?0.95, ?0.98, ?0.98, ?0.8, and ?0.85, respectively. Coefficient of determination (R2) demonstrated that bolls per plant, boll weight, germination, ginning out turn, staple length, and staple fineness contributed with 91, 96, 96, 79, 43 and 73%, respectively, to the total variability at different densities of D. koenigii. Our findings demonstrated that D. koenigii has become potential major pest and causes quantitative and qualitative losses to transgenic cotton, hence, there is a need to develop appropriate control measures for controlling its population to avoid further losses. 相似文献
