Progesterone receptors in feline mammary adenocarcinomas   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Estradiol and progesterone receptors were measured in tumor cytosols from 3 intact and 4 neutered female cats with spontaneously occurring mammary adenocarcinomas. Serum from 2 of the intact cats which had been in estrus 4 and 4 to 6 weeks before tumor excision contained progesterone concentrations of 16.2 and 2.2 ng/ml, respectively; serum progesterone in the other cats was less than 2 ng/ml. Estradiol receptors were not detected in any cytosols. Progesterone receptors were detected in all of the cytosols, in concentrations ranging from 4.0 to 11.7 (mean = 7.2) fmol/mg of protein. Scatchard plot analysis of tumor cytosol from an 8th cat with mammary adenocarcinoma revealed presence of high affinity progesterone binding with a dissociation constant (Kd) of 3.47 nM. Tumor receptor content could not be correlated with stage of the estrous cycle nor with whether the cat was intact or neutered.  相似文献

Teratogenic effects of methylparathion / Wofatox 50 EC/ and Parathion 20 WP as positive control material were tested in pheasant embryos. On the 12th day of incubation 0.1 ml of the emulsions or suspensions of the insecticides at different concentrations was inoculated into the air space of embryonated eggs. The following dose levels were employed: 27 and 270 mg/kg egg of Wofatox 50 EC, and 10 mg/kg of Parathion 20 WP. Morphological changes were evaluated by macroscopic, skeletal staining and light microscopic examinations of the embryos. Primary hypoplasia or atrophy developed in the cervical musculature /m. longus colli/ accompanied by lordosis and scoliosis of the cervical spine. In most cases we also found cyllosis .  相似文献

The phenomenon of megakaryocytes containing intracytoplasmic blood cells was frequently observed in the bone marrow of rats. The frequency appeared to increase in inflammatory or neoplastic conditions. The types of blood cells engulfed were mainly neutrophils. The pharmacokinetics of thiopentone sodium administered intravenously as a single dose (11 mg/kg) were studied in acepromazine pre-medicated horses and ponies in which anaesthesia was maintained with either halothane (Group 1) or isoflurane (Group 2). The results showed that the disposition kinetics of thiopentone in horses and ponies were best described by a three-compartment open model. In plasma, a very short initial distribution phase in both horses and ponies, half-life 1.4 ± 1.2 min (mean ± SD) and 1.3 ± 0.7 min, respectively, was obtained, which was followed by a second comparatively slower redistribution phase, half-life 16 ± 12 min and 11 ± 5 min, respectively. The volume of distribution for the drug was large, especially in the ponies which received isoflurane (1127 ± 86 ml/kg). compared to the horses which received halothane (742 ± 89 ml/kg). The drug had a somewhat shorter elimination half-life in the horses (147 ± 21 min) than in the ponies (222 ± 44 min), but no obvious difference in clearance of the drug was observed between the horses (3.5 ± 0.5 ml/min/kg) and ponies (3.6 ± 0.8 ml/min/kg).  相似文献

Forty-two cats underwent craniotomy for removal of a meningioma between 1985 and 1991. Median duration of clinical signs before examination was 1.25 months. All cats had inappropriate demeanor: 48% were dull and 38% were lethargic. Neurological deficits included impaired vision in 93%, paresis in 83%, and seizures in 19%. Computed tomography (CT) showed solitary masses in 86% and multiple masses in 14%. Intraoperative complications included hemorrhage and difficulty excising deep or adherent masses. Anemia in 13 of 42 cats was the most common immediate postoperative complication. Ten of 42 cats had no improvement or a more severe neurological status after surgery. Eight of 42 cats died immediately after surgery; 6 of these were anemic. Of the cats that survived the immediate postoperative period, evaluation 10 to 14 days after surgery showed that 97% (33 of 34) were alert and 79% (27 of 34) had returned to normal behavior. Neurological deficits, except for vision impairment, had resolved in most cats. The duration of follow-up varied from 1.3 months to 55.1 months. Ten cats developed neurological abnormalities from 1 month to 44.2 months after surgery; of these, 6 had tumor recurrence or new growth confirmed by CT scan or necropsy. Overall survival was 71% at 6 months, 66% at 1 year, and 50% at 2 years. Age of cat and location of tumor did not significantly affect survival ( P = . 1034 and .1851, respectively). There were too few precise measurements of tumor size to make a valid statistical comparison of the effect of size on survival. Location or presence of multiple tumors did not affect final outcome. Results of this study indicate that surgical excision is a beneficial method of treatment of cranial meningioma in cats.  相似文献

Each of two horses was dosed by stomach tube with culture material on maize of Fusarium moniliforme MRC 826. One horse developed severe hepatosis and mild oedema of the brain after 6 doses of 2.5 g of culture material/kg body mass/day in 7 days. The second horse, in a similar experiment but at a dosage rate of 1.25 g/kg/day, developed mild hepatosis and moderate oedema of the brain. In both animals the brain oedema was particularly noticeable in the medulla oblongata. The mycotoxin fumonisin B1 was extracted and purified from the culture material of F. moniliforme MRC, 826 which contained approximately 1 g/kg of this compound. A horse was injected intravenously 7 times from Day 0-Day 9 with 0.125 mg of fumonisin B1/kg body mass/day. Clinical signs of neurotoxicosis, which appeared on Day 8, included nervousness followed by apathy, a wide-based stance, trembling, ataxia, reluctance to move, paresis of the lower lip and tongue, and an inability to eat or drink. Euthanasia was performed on the horse on Day 10 while the animal was in a tetanic convulsion. The principal lesions were severe oedema of the brain and early, bilaterally symmetrical, focal necrosis in the medulla oblongata. This report provides experimental evidence that fumonisin B1, produced by F. moniliforme, causes equine leukoencephalomalacia.  相似文献
