A novel macrolide antibiotic was administered orally to 5-week-old Jcl:Wistar rats at a dose of 5,000 mg/kg/day for 5 weeks, and then a half of animals were maintained without any treatment for 10 weeks. A white discolored lesion with horizontal stripes developed on the surface of the upper and lower incisors after dosing for 4 weeks, and these macroscopical incisal lesions disappeared with the eruption in 4 weeks after stop of administration. Histopathologically, increase in number of karyopycnosis of ameloblast at the transitional stage, vacuolar degeneration of ameloblast and cystic change in the maturation stage, and impaired iron pigment secretion at the pigmentation stage were observed. Microradiography, calcio-traumatic zones, which means hypocalcification, were observed on the superficial layer of enamel. These results suggest that the primary lesion induced by a novel macrolide antibiotic is the increased karyopycnosis of ameloblast at the transitional stage, and followed by later stage. 相似文献

The longitudinal changes in fecal steroid hormone concentrations and sexual behavior in 2 mated/pregnant and 3 non-mated female Hokkaido brown bears were investigated during the breeding season. Behavioral estrus (standing) lasted for 14 and 32 days in the mated females and for 25 to 36 days in the non-mated females. In non-mated females, sexual behavior, such as female-female mounting and masturbation, was observed for several days before and after the estrous period. In mated females, mean fecal estradiol-17beta concentrations were higher in the estrous period than in the post-estrous period, while fecal progesterone concentrations were higher in the post-estrous period than in the estrous period. The filamentous fungus flora on standing leaves of Typha latifolia in a bog was followed from late spring to early winter. A seasonal successional change of fungal colonizers was observed. Certain groups of species tended to be specific to a particular physiological condition of leaves. Leaf parasites and common primary saprophytes were major colonizers on the developing leaves. After the flowering time of host plant, facultative parasites invaded the aged leaves and finally became dominant on the dead leaves in early winter. A species of Fusarium, F. chlamydosporum was recognized as a main decomposer of the dead leaves near the water line in 1992. Control of integrin affinity for ligands (integrin activation) is essential for normal cell adhesion, migration, and assembly of an extracellular matrix. Integrin activation is usually mediated through the integrin beta subunit cytoplasmic tail and can be regulated by many different biochemical signaling pathways. We report that specific binding of the cytoskeletal protein talin to integrin beta subunit cytoplasmic tails leads to the conformational rearrangements of integrin extracellular domains that increase their affinity. The reflectance spectra of the most abundant meteorites, ordinary chondrites, are different from those of the abundant S-type (mnemonic for siliceous) asteroids. This discrepancy has been thought to be due to space weathering, which is an alteration of the surfaces of airless bodies exposed to the space environment. Here we report evidence of space weathering on particles returned from the S-type asteroid 25143 Itokawa by the Hayabusa spacecraft. Surface modification was found in 5 out of 10 particles, which varies depending on mineral species. Sulfur-bearing Fe-rich nanoparticles exist in a thin (5 to 15 nanometers) surface layer on olivine, low-Ca pyroxene, and plagioclase, which is suggestive of vapor deposition. Sulfur-free Fe-rich nanoparticles exist deeper inside (<60 nanometers) ferromagnesian silicates. Their texture suggests formation by metamictization and in situ reduction of Fe(2+). 相似文献
