ihre Reaktion gegenüber SO2 bleiben, sofern die Expositionsdauer kurzgehalten wird.
Die entwickelte Methode ist schneller, wirtschaftlicher und auch zuverl?ssiger als Rauchh?rteprüfungen mit eingetopften Pflanzen.
Sie testet lediglich die Reaktion auf akute Begasungen.
Summary A short-time technique of testing pines for resistance against SO2-emissions has been developed, using one-year-old needle fascicles, put into water-filled glass vials. Against actual SO2-exposure, fascicles of the same tree react uniformly, and their reaction is very similiar to that of the parent tree. Besides,
needle fascicles show endogenous clonal variation in the rate of drying out. This, however, does not influence the reaction
against SO2, provided the time of exposure is kept short.
The new technique is quicker, accurate, and more economical than SO2-tests with potted seedlings or graftings, but it only tests the reaction against short time-high doses exposure to SO2.

A quasi-non-linear fracture mechanics model based on beam on elastic foundation theory is applied for analysis of the splitting
failure of dowel joints loaded perpendicular to grain. Simply supported beams symmetrically loaded by two dowels are considered,
and the effects of edge distance, dowel spacing, and distance between dowels and supports are accounted for. The foundation
modulus used in the beam on elastic foundation model is chosen so that the perpendicular-to-grain tensile strength and fracture
energy properties of the wood are correctly represented. This ensures that a conventional stress analysis and failure criterion
lead to the same solution as the compliance method of fracture mechanics. A semiempirical efficiency factor is proposed to
account for the influence of the total beam depth, which does not enter the beam on elastic foundation model, but the effect
of which is evident from tests. It is shown that the so-called Van der Put/Leijten model, which recently has been adopted
in Eurocode 5, appears as a special case of the model presented. Tests on simply supported beams with a single dowel joint
at midspan are compared with the theoretical predictions. Various edge distances, beam depths, and spans were tested. 相似文献
Paratuberculosis is a chronic, granulomatous enteritis caused by Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis affecting domestic and wild ruminants. The symptoms of clinical paratuberculosis are chronic diarrhoea and progressive weight loss while subclinically infected animals mainly have decreased production. The infection is widespread throughout the world and causes substantial financial losses for the farming industry. One of the major obstacles in the control of this disease, is the difficulty of identifying subclinically infected animals. This review gives a summary of several aspects of paratuberculosis including clinical importance, pathology, immunology and properties of the infectious agent. Special emphasis will be on the available diagnostic methods, their use and limitations. 相似文献
During the last few years, many Danish dairy farmers have expressed increasing concerns regarding a group of cows, which we have chosen to term ‘loser cows’. Until now, a loser cow has not been described scientifically. We defined a loser cow on the basis of a clinical examination of the cow. A total of 15,151 clinical examinations were made on 6,451 individual cows from 39 randomly selected, large Danish dairy herds with loose-housing systems using a clinical protocol. Scores for the clinical signs lameness, body condition, hock lesions, other cutaneous lesions, vaginal discharge, condition of hair coat and general condition were converted into a loser cow score. Cows with a loser cow score of 8 or more were classified as loser cows. The overall prevalence of loser cows was 2.15%, 4.50% and 2.98% during the first, second and third round of herd visits, respectively.
The associations between the loser cow state and milk production, mortality, morbidity, culling and workload for the farmer were evaluated using data from herd visits and from the Danish Cattle Database and a number of different statistical techniques. It was concluded that the loser cow state has significant negative consequences for both the farmer and the cow. On average, loser cows yielded 0.61 to 2.24 kg energy corrected milk less per day than non-loser cows depending on parity. Hazard ratio for death or euthanasia was 5.69 for loser cows compared to non-loser cows. Incidence rate ratio for disease treatments was 0.69 for non-loser cows compared to loser cows. Loser cows were often culled in an ‘unfavourable’ way and generally caused extra workload for the farmer.
A simplified version of the loser cow score was evaluated and is recommended for future research and use in practice. 相似文献
Globally, aquaculture systems with water recirculation experience increasing problems with microbial taste and odor compounds (TOCs) such as geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol (MIB). This study investigated the content of geosmin and MIB in water and the flesh of 200 rainbow trouts from eight recirculated aquaculture systems in Denmark. TOC content in the fish flesh was measured by a dynamic headspace extraction method and was evaluated by a sensory panel. The results showed significant correlations between TOC content in water and fish and between chemical analysis and sensory perception. When geosmin exceeded 20 ng/L in the water, 96% of the fish had an intense muddy flavor, but below 10 ng geosmin/L, 18% of the fish (only 3% in special depuration ponds) had an intense muddy flavor. The results indicate that TOC levels <10 ng/L will ensure that a negligible portion of the fish obtains an unpalatable taste and flavor due to TOCs. 相似文献
During three growing seasons (1999–2001), disease incidence of non-abscised aborted and normally developing (sound) sweet cherry fruits were investigated in a research orchard at Ullensvang, western Norway. To reveal possible fungal infections, aborted and sound fruits of two cultivars (cv. Van for three years and cv. Lapins for two years) were harvested over four to seven weeks in an experimental orchard during the green fruit phase and incubated at 20°C in moisture saturated air for 7 days. The most frequently observed fungal pathogens were Monilinia laxa, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, and Botrytis cinerea. The mean of all observations (±standard deviation) over three years, showed that aborted and sound fruits had a disease incidence of 51.9% (±31.8) and 5.2% (±9.7), respectively, after seven days incubation. In 24 of 25 trials aborted fruits had significantly higher disease incidence than sound fruits after incubation. In one season, when fruits were collected from two commercial orchards, aborted fruits had much higher disease incidence than sound fruits (a mean of 6.5 and 4.5 times higher incidence for the two orchards, respectively). Time of fruit abortion varied with the years (two years observation) and the two cultivars, but the major abortion took place between the fourth and eighth week after anthesis. A higher disease incidence and more rapid disease development in non-abscised aborted fruits indicate that they are more vulnerable to fungal colonisation than sound fruits and may thus be potential incoulum sources for neighbouring, healthy fruits. 相似文献
Quantitative multi-elemental analysis by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometry depends on a complete digestion of
solid samples. However, fast and thorough sample digestion is a challenging analytical task which constitutes a bottleneck
in modern multi-elemental analysis. Additional obstacles may be that sample quantities are limited and elemental concentrations
low. In such cases, digestion in small volumes with minimum dilution and contamination is required in order to obtain high
