A. WALKER 《Weed Research》1973,13(4):407-415
Summary. Turnip, lettuce and ryegrass seedlings showed toxicity symptoms following shoot exposure to atrazine, linuron and aziprotryne at soil concentrations less than would be obtained from normal field applications. Responses following shoot exposure to simazine and lenacil were much less. Root exposure to all five herbicides caused seedling death at concentrations lower than those required for 'shoot-zone' toxicity. Pronamide and chlorpropham were tested against ryegrass only and at the concentrations examined were toxic only when localized in the shoot zone. Root exposure suppressed root growth, but the shoots were able to grow normally if the soil was kept sufficiently moist. Shoots contained more 14C-atrazine at emergence after shoot exposure compared with root exposure, but there was little subsequent uptake from the shoot zone. There was extensive uptake from the root zone after emergence. In the shoot-zone treatments, concentrations in the plant were high at emergence but were rapidly diluted by plant growth, whereas with root exposure, they increased throughout the experiments. The possible significance of these results to herbicide bebaviour under field conditions is discussed.

The effects of soil temperature and soil moisture content on the rates of degradation of atrazine, linuron and metolachlor were measured in the laboratory in soil from different sites in the USA. Persistence of the herbicides was measured in the same soils in the field during the summers of 1978 and 1979. Weather records from the different sites for the periods of the field experiments were used in conjunction with appropriate constants derived from the laboratory data in a computer program to simulate persistence in the field. There was a general tendency for the model to overestimate the observed soil residues. For example, with atrazine, 40 of the 48 measured residues were lower than those predicted by the model; seven were more than 30% below and two were more than 50% below. With metolachlor, 16 of the 48 measured residues were more than 30% below those predicted and six were more than 50% below; almost identical results were obtained with linuron. When the model overestimated late-season residues by a large amount, the discrepancies between predicted and observed data were usually apparent from early in the experiment. Possible reasons for the discrepancies are discussed.  相似文献

Background

We recently reported that the altitude of origin altered the photic and thermal sensitivity of the circadian pacemaker controlling eclosion and oviposition rhythms of high altitude Himalayan strains of Drosophila ananassae. The present study was aimed at investigating the effects of altitude of origin on the pacemaker controlling the adult locomotor activity rhythm of D. helvetica.  相似文献
