Bioassay-guided partition of the extract of the Red Sea sponge Pseudoceratina arabica and HPLC purification of the active fraction gave a psammaplysin dimer, psammaceratin A (1), along with psammaplysin A (2). The dimer comprises two units of psammaplysin A (2) connected via the terminal amines with an unprecedented (2Z,3Z)-2,3-bis(aminomethylene)succinamide moiety, and it represents the first dimer to be identified among the psammaplysin family. Data from 1D- and 2D-NMR and HRMS supported the chemical structures of the compounds. Psammaceratin A (1) and psammaplysin A (2) exhibited significant growth inhibition of HCT 116, HeLa, and MBA-MB-231 cells down to 3.1 μM.  相似文献

Severe clinical balabtidiosis in 2-month old piglets was treated with acetarsol alone and acetorsol in combination with oxytetracycline. Three groups of 15 animals each were used in this trial. Group 1 received acetarsol at a dose rate of 20 mg/kg body weight orally once daily for 4 days. Group 2 received acetarsol as group 1 plus oxytetracycline at a dose rate of 15 mg/kg body weight orally in feed concentrate twice daily for 4 days. Group 3 animals served as non-treated controls. As judged by clinical and parasitological examinations, acetarsol was found to be 85.7% effective and the combination of acetarsol and oxytetracycline 100% effective. No sign of intolerance or toxicity was observed.  相似文献

In human patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, cutaneous subepidermal blistering can occur because of the production of antibodies specific for basement membrane antigens. This condition is referred to as bullous systemic lupus erythematosus (BSLE). A dog was diagnosed with BSLE because it fulfilled the following criteria: (i) a diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus by standard methods; (ii) an acquired, vesicular, erosive and ulcerative eruption; (iii) microscopical subepidermal vesicles with neutrophil-predominant inflammation at the dermo-epidermal junction; (iv) deposition of IgG at the epidermal basement membrane zone; and (v) circulating IgG autoantibodies against type VII collagen. Anti-collagen VII type I-BSLE therefore needs to be considered as a possible differential diagnosis for canine autoimmune subepidermal blistering diseases.  相似文献

During the period 1961 to 1976, 29 species of Salmonella other than Salmonella pullorum were isolated from 180 accessions of birds examined at the Animal Research Institute, Yeerongpilly. These birds were submitted to the laboratory from flocks with disease or production problems. S. typhimurium was the most frequently isolated serotype being obtained from 63% of accessions. Outbreaks of systemic salmonellosis occurred most frequently in young birds and although pathological changes were most commonly observed in visceral organs they were also seen in eyes, joints and the brain. Diseases other than salmonellosis were identified in many accessions of birds with systemic or enteric salmonella infections.  相似文献

Twenty-four pregnant Holstein cows were used to develop techniques and procedures to obtain calves by hysterotomy and to maintain them in a closed gnotobiotic environment (sterile plastic-film isolators) for as long as 10 days for infectious disease research. Thiry-Vella loop preparation for obtaining intestinal loop secretions was done in a surgical isolator and was successful in 12 of 14 gnotobiotic calves. Ethylene oxide gas was effective in sterilizing heat-labile and moisture-sensitive instruments and equipment.  相似文献

A randomized block experiment involving thirty-six lactating dairy cattle was carried out to evaluate a bacterial inoculant (Grazyme Grobac, Agritech), containing bacteria, enzymes and a rumen enhancer, as a silage additive. Herbage from the primary regrowth of predominantly perennial ryegrass swards was ensiled unwilted and precision-chopped after a 51-d growth interval on 4 and 5 August. Alternate loads of herbage were ensiled either untreated (C) or treated with formic acid at a rate of 2.65 1 (t herbage)?1 (F) or the inoculant at a rate of 0.64 kg (t grass)?1 (I). The treatments were harvested using the same harvester in the rotation of I, F and C treatments. Mean dry-matter (DM), water-soluble carbohydrate and nitrate nitrogen (N) concentrations and buffering capacity of the C herbages at ensiling were 198 g kg?1, 18 2 g kg?1, 290 mg (1 juice)?1 and 379 mequiv. (kg DM)?1 respectively. For silages C, F and I pH values were 3.7, 3.8 and 3.8 and ammonia N concentrations 61, 43 and 58 g (kg total N)?1 respectively. Inoculant treatment did not alter aerobic stability of the silages, whereas formic acid treatment increased it. The silages were offered ad libitum and supplemented with 5 kg of concentrates per head daily. For treatments C, F and I silage DM intakes were 10.8, 11.2 and 10.8 (s.e. 0–33) kg d?1, milk yields 21.3, 20.9 and 20.7 (s.e. 0.52) kg d?1, fat concentrations 38.3, 40.3 and 37.2 (s.e. 0.83) g kg?1 and protein concentrations 30.8, 32.6 and 32.6 (s.e. 0.49) g kg?1 respectively. Inoculant treatment did not alter (P0.05) the digestibility coefficients of the total diets, whereas formic acid treatment decreased DM (P0.05), organic matter (P0.05), neutral detergent fibre (P0.01) and hemicellulose (P0.01) digestibilities. Formic acid treatment altered rumen fermentation patterns, whereas inoculant treatment had no effect. It is concluded that, relative to a well-preserved untreated silage, additive treatment did not alter DM intake, milk yield or fat plus protein yield. However, both additive treatments increased milk protein concentrations and formic acid treatment increased milk fat concentration relative to the well-preserved, untreated silage.  相似文献

We compared pristine and managed beech–fir mixed forestsin Bosnia to assess the impact of management on plant speciesdiversity, vegetation structure and soil–vegetation interaction.Traditionally, management of Bosnian mixed forests has beenby the opening of small gaps, similar to those occurring naturally.Species composition revealed three successional vegetation groups,two mainly in managed forests (regenerating and mature) andone mainly in pristine old growth forests. Managed sites showeda tendency to be more diverse in plant species than pristinesites, and were also more heterogeneous. Diversity was clearlyexplained by vegetation groups; mature managed stands showingthe highest plant diversity and regenerating stands the lowest,both in terms of species richness and abundance distributions.Plant diversity decreased with canopy cover and increased withcarbon concentration in the Ah horizon, being accurately modelledby both factors. Although topographical conditions were homogeneousamong sites, vegetation was very sensitive to small changesin environmental variables at the local scale. Vegetation reflecteda combination of past situations, represented by C in the Ahhorizon, and current conditions, represented by canopy coverand the C : N ratio in the LF organic layers, suggesting bothsensitivity to present-day environmental conditions as wellas the imprint of past events.  相似文献
