The one-compartment C model Ct=C0e−k2t+k1A/k2(1−e−k2t) is being long used to simulate soil organic C (SOC) stocks. Ct is the SOC stock at the time t; C0, the initial SOC stock; k2, the annual rate of SOC loss (mainly mineralization and erosion); k1, the annual rate to which the added C is incorporated into SOC; and A, the annual C addition. The component C0e−k2t expresses the decay of C0 and, for a time t, corresponds to the remains of C0 (C0 remains). The component k1A/k2(1−e−k2t) refers, at time t, to the stock of SOC derived from C crops (Ccrop). We herein propose a simple method to estimate k1 and k2 coefficients for tillage systems conducted in long-term experiments under several cropping systems with a wide range of annual C additions (A) and SOC stocks. We estimated k1 and k2 for conventional tillage (CT) and no-till (NT), which has been conducted under three cropping systems (oat/maize −O/M, vetch/maize −V/M and oat + vetch/maize + cowpea −OV/MC) and two N-urea rates (0 kg N ha−1 −0 N and 180 kg N ha−1 −180 N) in a long-term experiment established in a subtropical Acrisol with C0 = 32.55 Mg C ha−1 in the 0–17.5 cm layer. A linear equation (Ct = a + bA) between the SOC stocks measured at the 13th year (0–17.5 cm) and the mean annual C additions was fitted for CT and NT. This equation is equivalent to the equation of the model Ct=C0e−k2t+k1A/k2(1−e−k2t), so that a=C0e−k2t and bA=k1A/k2(1−e−k2t). Such equivalences thus allow the calculation of k1 and k2. NT soil had a lower rate of C loss (k2 = 0.019 year−1) than CT soil (k2 = 0.040 year−1), while k1 was not affected by tillage (0.148 year−1 under CT and 0.146 year−1 under NT). Despite that only three treatments had lack of fit (LOFIT) value lower than the critical 5% F value, all treatments showed root mean square error (RMSE) lower than RMSE 95% indicating that simulated values fall within 95% confidence interval of the measurements. The estimated SOC stocks at steady state (Ce) in the 0–17.5 cm layer ranged from 15.65 Mg ha−1 in CT O/M 0 N to 60.17 Mg ha−1 in NT OV/MC 180 N. The SOC half-life (t1/2 = ln 2/k2) was 36 years in NT and 17 years in CT, reflecting the slower C turnover in NT. The effects of NT on the SOC stocks relates to the maintenance of the initial C stocks (higher C0 remais), while increments in Ccrop are imparted mainly by crop additions. 相似文献

There is a growing interest in highly fermentable dietary fibers having the potential to reduce risks of disease through the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA). Recently a digestion-resistant retrograded maltodextrin (RRM), classified as type 3 resistant starch was developed. Systematic work to determine its molecular and physiological properties was carried out to determine (1) the fraction resistant to digestion in vitro and in vivo, (2) its postconsumption effect on blood glucose in healthy volunteers, and (3) its in vitro fermentation pattern, at different ages, by use of pooled fresh human fecal inoculum. RESULTS: The digestion resistant fraction obtained in vivo from ileostomy patients (59.4%) is similar to that obtained by the AOAC method for measuring retrograded resistant starch (59.7%). The relative glycemic response after consumption of 50 g of RRM was 58.5% compared to glucose set as 100%. When exposed to colonic microbiota, in vitro obtained indigestible fractions behave similarly to those obtained in vivo in ileostomy patients. Fermentation of RRM and production of butyric acid is negligible during the first months of life but develops subsequently during weaning. In adults, RRM fermentation results in a high yield of SCFA, with butyrate representing 21-31 mol % of total SCFA. The high yield of SCFA during colonic fermentation, observed from weaning age on, as well as the potential to help reduce glycemic load may be of benefit to a number of health-related functions in the host. Silicon(Si) has been supplied to plants via application of calcium silicate to soil; however, high doses of calcium silicate are required because of its low solubility. Nanoparticles can reduce Si doses and be applied to seeding furrows. This study investigated the effects of liquid Si sources, i.e., highly soluble silicate(115.2 g L~(-1) Si and 60.5 g L~(-1) Na_2O) and nanosilica( 200 nm), on Si uptake by rice plants, plant lignification, plant C:N:P stoichiometry, plant physiology, and grain yield using an Oxisol under greanhouse condistions. The treatments included the application of nanosilica and soluble silicate to seeding furrows at Si doses of 0, 605, 1 210,and 2 420 g ha~(-1). Plant uptake and treatment effects were evaluated by measuring C and lignin contents, Si, N, and P accumulation,physiological characteristics, and grain yield of rice. The deposition of silica bodies and amorphous silica in the flag leaves was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. Application of liquid Si increased Si accumulation in rice by 47.3% in relation to the control(0 g ha~(-1) Si), regardless of the Si sources used. Nanosilica application increased leaf lignin content by 112.7% when compared to that in the control. Silicon moderately affected the net C assimilation(increased by 1.83%) and transpiration rates(increased by 48.3%);however, Si influenced neither plant growth nor grain yield of rice. These results are explained by the lack of biotic or abiotic stress in rice plants during the experiment. To the best of our knowledge, in Brazilian agriculture, this is the first report on the use of nanosilica as a Si fertilizer and its effect on plant nutrition. This study provides evidence that rice plants absorb and accumulate nanoparticles;however, further studies are required to investigate the use of nanoparticles in other plant species. 相似文献

In this work, disks containing different amount of the TiO2 precursor impregnated on the raw red clay were produced. The disks were obtained by pressing in metal template and subsequently calcined at 500 °C. The raw clay was used as rigid support to fix the TiO2. The materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, N2 adsorption-desorption (BET and BJH), scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The ability of disks to produce superoxide and hydroxyl radicals after photoexcitation with UV irradiation was monitored by EPR. The catalytic efficiency was evaluated by the Reactive Red 141 dye discoloration under artificial UV light and sunlight. The reaction parameters such as concentration of RR-141 and irradiation source were evaluated. The results showed that the disks were able to decolorize 97.5% under sunlight at 60 min. The disks were also efficient in the discoloration until the tenth cycle, resulting in discoloration values near the initial cycles. Additionally, the dye fragments produced in cleavage of molecule during the reaction were evaluated by LC/MS-MS. 相似文献

The most promising among glucosinolates (GLs) are those bearing in their aglycon an extra sulfur function, such as glucoraphasatin (4-methylthio-3-butenyl GL; GRH) and glucoraphenin (4-methylsulfinyl-3-butenyl GL; GRE). The GRE/GRH redox couple is typically met among secondary metabolites of Raphanus sativus L. and, whereas GRE prevails in seeds, GRH is the major GL in full-grown roots. During the 10 days of sprouting of R. sativus seeds, the GRE and GRH contents were determined according to the Eurpean Union official method (ISO 9167-1). In comparison to the seeds, the GRE content in sprouts decreased from about 90 to about 12 micromol g(-1) of dry weight (dw), whereas a 25-fold increase--from about 3 to 76 micromol g(-1) of dw--of the GRH content was measured. An efficient pure GRH gram-scale production process from R. sativus (kaiware daikon) sprouts resulted in significant yield improvement of up to 2.2% (dw basis). The reaction of GRH with both H2O2 and ABTS*+ radical cation was investigated. Whereas H2O2 oxidation of GRH readily resulted in complete transformation into GRE, ABTS*+ caused complete decay of the GL. Even though not directly related to its radical scavenging activity, the assessed reducing capacity of GRH suggests that R. sativus sprouts might possess potential for health benefits. 相似文献

The solubilization site of two betalain pigments, namely, betanin and indicaxantin, into l-alpha-dipalmitoyl-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) and dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC) vesicles was investigated by a spectrophotometric study. Pigment absorbance was monitored by varying phospholipid concentration, at a constant temperature that was varied in a range including the main phase transition temperature (Tm) of the relevant phospholipid bilayer. Maximum betanin absorption increased with the increase of DPPC concentration within the entire temperature range, reaching a plateau. The binding constant (Kb) of the pigment, calculated according to a pseudo-two-phase model, varied with the temperature, indicating that betanin is located at the hydrophobic interior of the bilayer. Other measurements of binding of betanin to DMPC and of indicaxanthin to either DPPC or DMPC vesicles ruled out that these compounds were solubilized in the hydrophobic interior of these bilayers. 相似文献

years, attention has been directed toward various natural solid materials that are capable of removing pollutants from contaminated
water at low cost. One such material is sugarcane bagasse. The aim of the present study was to evaluate adsorption of the
dye Acid Violet Alizarin N with different concentrations of sugarcane bagasse and granulometry in agitated systems at different
pH. The most promising data (achieved with pH 2.5) was analyzed with both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms equations. The
model that better fits dye adsorption interaction into sugarcane bagasse is Freundlich equation, and thus the multilayer model.
Moreover, a smaller bagasse granulometry led to greater dye adsorption. The best treatment was achieved with a granulometry
value lower than 0.21 mm at pH 2.50, in which the total removal was estimated at a concentration of 16.25 mg mL−1. Hence, sugarcane bagasse proves to be very attractive for dye removal from textile effluents. 相似文献

Electrochemical processes in industrial effluents have been studied as a means to obtain higher efficiency in wastewater treatment. Heterogeneous photocatalysis appears as a low-cost alternative through the use of lower wattage lamps and thermal TiO2 films. Photocatalysis became a clean process for water treatment due to hydroxyl radicals generated on semiconductor surface. Such radicals are able to degrade several organic compounds. This study used different electrodes and analytical methods for degradation of phenol molecules to reduce treatment costs, improve efficiency, and identify compounds formed during the decomposition of phenolic molecules. Thermal growth of TiO2 film was observed on the titanium electrode in rutile form. Application of an electrical potential on the Ti/TiO2 working electrode increases efficiency in reducing concentration of phenol after photocatalytic treatment. Still, high energy radiation (UVC) showed best degradation rates in photolytic process. Different compounds formed during the degradation of phenol were also identified in the UVC?CPE treatment. 相似文献

The influences of composition and roasting conditions on acrylamide formation in almonds and hazelnuts were investigated. Eighteen samples of almonds originating from the U.S. and Europe were analyzed for sugars and free amino acids, and acrylamide formed during roasting was determined. Asparagine was the main free amino acid in raw almonds and correlated with the acrylamide content of dark roasted almonds. Roasting temperature was another key factor and had a very strong influence on acrylamide formation. Almonds of European origin contained significantly less free asparagine and formed significantly less acrylamide during roasting as compared to the almonds from the U.S. Roasted hazelnuts contained very little acrylamide because of the low content of free asparagine in the raw nut. Reducing sugars, although being consumed much faster than free amino acids in both types of nuts, were not decisive for the extent of acrylamide formation during roasting. 相似文献
