Coherent spin states in semiconductor quantum dots offer promise as electrically controllable quantum bits (qubits) with scalable fabrication. For few-electron quantum dots made from gallium arsenide (GaAs), fluctuating nuclear spins in the host lattice are the dominant source of spin decoherence. We report a method of preparing the nuclear spin environment that suppresses the relevant component of nuclear spin fluctuations below its equilibrium value by a factor of approximately 70, extending the inhomogeneous dephasing time for the two-electron spin state beyond 1 microsecond. The nuclear state can be readily prepared by electrical gate manipulation and persists for more than 10 seconds. 相似文献

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a prevalent familial cancer syndrome resulting from germ line mutations in the NF1 tumor suppressor gene. Hallmark features of the disease are the development of benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors (neurofibromas), which can progress to malignancy. Unlike humans, mice that are heterozygous for a mutation in Nf1 do not develop neurofibromas. However, as described here, chimeric mice composed in part of Nf1-/- cells do, which demonstrates that loss of the wild-type Nf1 allele is rate-limiting in tumor formation. In addition, mice that carry linked germ line mutations in Nf1 and p53 develop malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs), which supports a cooperative and causal role for p53 mutations in MPNST development. These two mouse models provide the means to address fundamental aspects of disease development and to test therapeutic strategies. 相似文献

The late Quaternary fossil record of the Bahamian land snail Cerion on Great Inagua documents two transitions apparently resulting from hybridization. In the first, a localized modern population represents the hybrid descendants of a 13,000-year-old fossil form from the same area, introgressed with the modern form now characteristic of the adjacent regions. In the second case, a chronocline spanning 15,000 to 20,000 years and expressing the transition of an extinct fossil form to the modern form found on the south coast was documented by morphometry of fossils dated by amino acid racemization and radiocarbon. The genome locations of the wound-response genes that were expressedduring the post-harvest physiological deterioration (PPD) of cassava, suchas phenylalanine ammonia lyase, -1.3 glucanase, hydroxyprolinerich glycoprotein, catalase, 1-aminocyclopropane 1-carboxylate, cysteineprotease inhibitor, aspartic protease, a partial cDNA for serine/threonineprotein kinase and peroxidase, have been identified on the frameworkmolecular genetic map of cassava. Also, molecular markers linked toputative quantitative trait loci (QTLs) influencing PPD of cassava weremapped using an F1mapping population derived from elite parentallines (TMS 30572 × cm 2177-2). A molecular linkage map previouslyconstructed based on the segregation of 240 RFLP, 100 RAPD, 85microsatellite and five isoenzyme markers on 144 F1 individuals wasused for the QTL mapping.A set of 10 molecular markers with a significant association with putativeQTLs for PPD were identified based on probability values < 0.005in order to minimize the detection of false positives. Based on single-markerregression, eight putative QTLs located on the linkage groups G, P, L, U,and X of the female-derived framework map were found to explain between 5–12% of the phenotypic variance of the PPD. In the male-derived frameworkmap, two putative QTLs on linkage groups C and L explained 13% and11% of this variance, respectively. This study thus identified the majorgenome regions of cassava related to physiological post-harvestdeterioration, thereby providing tools for the identification of gene(s)controlling this trait. 相似文献

[目的]品种和海拔是影响燕麦草产量和品质的重要因素,高产品种可以提高干草产量20%以上,而且茎叶比也不同,产量越高,叶量越丰富,其干草产量和品质均高。所以,不断进行品种比较试验,引进新品种,对燕麦草生产的效益影响重大。[方法]试验研究了不同品种的燕麦在不同海拔地区的产量及品质的差异。[结果]经研究,青海444在甘南州不同海拔地区表现出良好的适应性,林纳和加燕2号在低海拔区产量较高,但在高海拔地区的产量不及本地燕麦。从茎叶比和营养物质含量分析,林纳和加燕2号的茎叶比较高,ADF和NDF的含量较低,因此,其品质好于青海444和本地燕麦。[结论]综合考虑燕麦草产量与品质2个因素,在甘南州低海拔地区适合推广林纳和加燕2号,高海拔地区适合种植本地燕麦和青海444。 相似文献

Cassava storage roots are an important staple food throughout the lowland humid tropics. However, cassava suffers from a poorly understood storage disorder, known as postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD), which constrains its exploitation. In an attempt to broaden the understanding of PPD, nine different cassava cultivars were analyzed for specific compounds accumulating during the process. The production of hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) is involved in the early stages of PPD in cassava roots. H(2)O(2) was quantified and localized histochemically at the tissue and cell level in deteriorating roots. This reactive oxygen species accumulated during the first 24 h after harvest, especially in the inner parenchymatic tissue. Three flavan-3-ols, (+)-catechin, (+)-catechin gallate, and (+)-gallocatechin, accumulated during the storage of cassava roots. However, these potential antioxidants cannot be related to early storage disorders or wound responses because they start to accumulate only after 4-6 days. 相似文献
