Characteristics of CPE produced by porcine enteroviruses (PEV) were examined by Immunoperoxidase (IP) staining method. Viral antigens were detected earlier than appearance of CPE. Distinctive characteristics of the three CPE types were clearly showed by the method. In cross reactions by IP staining, the titers of the staining were high (1:6,400 to 1:25,600), even though neutralizing titers of PEV with CPE II or III were low (1:200 to 1:400). The very close relationship was detected between PEV with the same CPE type, but the very low relationships were detected between PEV with the different CPE type. The relationships in CPE I group were various. The results by IP staining were more relative to CPE type than the serotype. Thus, IP staining is one method to classify PEV clearly.  相似文献

Five groups of genetically susceptible chickens were inoculated at hatching with lymphoid leukosis virus; four of these were given infectious bursal viruses of varying virulence at 14 days of age and one group was not inoculated (control). All chickens in the control group developed evidence of lymphoid leukosis by 180 days. Two groups given relatively virulent bursal disease viruses, which destroyed bursal lymphoid cells, did not develop lymphoid leukosis. Treatment with avirulent vaccines had no visible effect on bursal morphology and did not significantly alter the incidence of lymphoid leukosis in two other groups, although the time of development was delayed. Results of our study show that viral-induced destruction of the bursa of Fabricius eliminates the development of lymphoid leukosis but that infection without bursal destruction has little effect on lymphoid leukosis.  相似文献

Noble gas isotopes were measured in three rocky grains from asteroid Itokawa to elucidate a history of irradiation from cosmic rays and solar wind on its surface. Large amounts of solar helium (He), neon (Ne), and argon (Ar) trapped in various depths in the grains were observed, which can be explained by multiple implantations of solar wind particles into the grains, combined with preferential He loss caused by frictional wear of space-weathered rims on the grains. Short residence time of less than 8 million years was implied for the grains by an estimate on cosmic-ray-produced (21)Ne. Our results suggest that Itokawa is continuously losing its surface materials into space at a rate of tens of centimeters per million years. The lifetime of Itokawa should be much shorter than the age of our solar system.  相似文献

A monitoring study on precipitation and soil solution was conducted to analyze soil acidification processes at the Rolling Land Laboratory (RLL), Hachioji, Tokyo based on the spatial variability of the soil solution chemistry around the Hinoki cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) trunk. Soil solution samples were taken at various distances from the tree trunks and at various depths. Soil solution pH at the depth of 10 cm decreased to 4.1–4.2 on the downslope side of large tree trunks, presumably due to the heterogeneity of throughfall input and extensive infiltration of acidic stemflow. Ammonium ions brought by throughfall and stemflow were nitrified and provided large amounts of H+. Protons were replaced with exchangeable cations. When base cations were depleted, aluminum ion became the dominant cation species. On the average, Ca2+ concentration in the soil solutions at the depth of 10 cm decreased from 0.28 mmolc L-1 at the reference site to 0.18 mmolc L-1 on the downslope side and Mg2+ concentration decreased from 0.30 mmolc L-1 to 0.15 mmolc L-1. Arithmetic mean aluminum concentration at the depth of 10 cm on the downslope side was 0.35 mmolc L-1. Here aluminum dissolution was the main acid sink. Based on the spatial variability of the soil solution chemistry, soil solution acidification processes were divided into four stages.  相似文献

The occurrence and current status of butyltin and phenyltin compounds were investigated in sediments collected from the Arakawa and Sumida Rivers and Tokyo Bay in 2000. A series of butyltin and phenyltin compounds, including monobutyltin (MBT), dibutyltin (DBT), tributyltin (TBT), monophenyltin (MPT), diphenyltin (DPT), and triphenyltin (TPT) was detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The total concentrations of the butyltin (MBT + DBT + TBT) and phenyltin (MPT + DPT + TPT) compounds ranged from 25.7 to 116 and from non-detectable levels to 22.4 ng g' (as Sn), respectively. The concentrations of the organotin (OT) compounds in sediments were relatively lower than those of the samples collected in 1984. OT compounds accounted for 124% (as Sn) of total Sn in the sediments. Among the OT compounds investigated, MBT was the most prevalent in the sediments.  相似文献

Pig serum samples collected in southeastern China were examined for antibodies to influenza A viruses. Since the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test does not accurately detect antibodies to the hemagglutinins (HAs) of "avian" influenza viruses, we utilized the neutralization (NT) test to detect subtype-specific antibodies to the HA of avian viruses in pig sera. Neutralizing antibodies to H1, H3, H4, and H5 influenza viruses were detected in the serum samples collected in 1977-1982 and 1998, suggesting that pigs in China have been sporadically infected with avian H4 and H5 viruses in addition to swine and human H1 and H3 viruses. Antibodies to H9 virus, on the other hand, were found only in the sera collected in 1998, not in those collected in 1977-1982, correlating with the recent spread in poultry and subsequent isolation of H9N2 viruses from pigs and humans in 1998. The present results indicate that avian influenza viruses have been transmitted to pig populations in southeastern China.  相似文献

North Pacific krill is widely distributed in the waters around Japan, however its utilization for human consumption has been limited due to its small size. We have investigated the proximate composition, the amino acid, free fatty acid, mineral and protein composition, respectively, as well as the residual proteolytic activity of krill protein, as recovered by acidic- and alkaline-aided isoelectric solubilization/precipitation, in order to facilitate effective utilization of this krill species. Krill protein yield was 31.7 and 73.4 % by acidic and alkaline treatment, respectively. Both treatments resulted in a comparable higher content of essential amino acids than that in whole krill, accompanied with effective removal of insoluble materials. Three major proteolytic active bands with molecular weights of approximately 28, 18 and 16 kDa, as estimated by gelatin-based zymography, were detected. Pronounced residual proteolytic activity was observed in the krill protein after alkaline processing, implying the possible involvement of proteinase(s) in protein degradation during alkaline solubilization. Based on these results, we suggest that inhibition of proteolysis during isoelectric solubilization/precipitation is required for the effective use of North Pacific krill.  相似文献

The yields and properties of oil and gas fractions coproduced during carbonization of larch wood loaded with Ni 2%, Ni 2%+Ca 1%, and Ni 4% and without catalyst (None) at 700°–900°C were examined to clarify the catalytic effect in terms of conversion into fluid fuels. The net calorific value of oil occurred mainly below 500°C and increased in the order None < Ni 2% < Ni 4% < Ni 2%+Ca 1%, while the yield decreased in this order. The same order held for the production of gases enriched with hydrogen at 500°–700°C. Even above 800°C, markedly promoted evolution of hydrogen took place for all catalyst systems. These observations confirmed the effectiveness of nickel-catalyzed carbonization at 900°C, particularly Ni 2%+Ca 1%, for both upgrading of oil and gaseous fractions, although the quality of oil was not satisfactory. The catalysis of nickel with and without calcium is discussed on the basis of the modified Broid-Shafizadeh scheme, and the scheme was altered to adapt to the high temperature region where oil was no longer produced.
