Resistively detected nuclear spin relaxation measurements in closely separated two-dimensional electron systems reveal strong low-frequency electron-spin fluctuations in the quantum Hall regime. As the temperature is decreased, the spin fluctuations, manifested by a sharp enhancement of the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T1, continue to grow down to the lowest temperature of 66 millikelvin. The observed divergent behavior of 1/T1 signals a gapless spin excitation mode and is a hallmark of canted antiferromagnetic order. Our data demonstrate the realization of a two-dimensional system with planar broken symmetry, in which fluctuations do not freeze out when approaching the zero temperature limit.  相似文献

We investigated the effect of exposure to low salinity water on plasma ion regulation and survival rates in artificially wounded devil stinger Inimicus japonicus. All fishes survived in 33% seawater (SW), while survival rate in 100% SW was 5.1% at 24 h. In 100% SW, plasma Na+, K+, Mg2+, and Ca2+ concentrations significantly increased to 238?±?49.9, 9.6?±?2.4, 15.1?±?3.5 and 5.0?±?0.7 mmol/l at 6 h, respectively; the gill Na+/K+–ATPase (NKA) activity was almost stable, although only one fish survived to 24 h. In 33% SW, plasma Na+ and K+ concentrations remained at the same level, and plasma Mg2+ and Ca2+ concentrations gradually increased to 16.2?±?0.7 and 4.5?±?0.2 mmol/l until 24 h, respectively. The NKA activity significantly increased to 5.1?±?1.1 µmol ADP/mg protein per h at 6 h. A positive correlation was observed between the wound surface area against body weight and the plasma ion concentrations, although no difference was observed in the restoration rate of the wounded area between 100 and 33% SW. These results indicate that exposure of wounded fish to low salinity water improves survivability by favoring plasma ion regulation without influencing the restoration rate.  相似文献

Two diseases of adzuki bean, brown stem rot (BSR, caused by Cadophora gregata f. sp. adzukicola) and adzuki bean Fusarium wilt (AFW, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. adzukicola), are serious problems in Hokkaido and have been controlled using cultivars with multiple resistance. However, because a new race of BSR, designated race 3, was identified, sources of parental adzuki bean for resistance to race 3 were needed. Therefore, we examined 67 cultivars and lines of cultivated and wild adzuki bean maintained at the Tokachi Agricultural Experiment Station using a root-dip inoculation method. Consequently, nine adzuki bean cultivars, one wild adzuki bean accession and 30 lines (including two lines resistant to all the three races of BSR and AFW) were confirmed to be resistant or tolerant to race 3 of BSR, and we found a cultivar Akamame as well as a wild adzuki bean Acc2515 to be a new source for a resistance gene to the race 3. This cultivar also holds promise as a source of resistance against other races of BSR and AFW.  相似文献

In order to estimate dry deposition, deposition velocity calculation and concentration measurement were carried out in Niigata, Japan. Deposition velocities of SO2 and HNO3 for some surfaces such as coniferous forest, deciduous forest, agricultural land, and water were calculated taking into account diurnal variations of meteorological elements using routine meteorological data. Deposition velocities of fine and coarse aerosols were also estimated respectively. Concentrations of SO2, HNO3, sulfate and nitrate in fine and coarse aerosols respectively were measured from July to December in 1998 using filter pack and denuder methods. The results indicate that HNO3 dry deposition for the high aerodynamic roughness surfaces such as forests is quite large. It is suggested that sulfate and nitrate aerosols depositions as well as the gases depositions should be taken into account to estimate dry deposition of sulfur and nitrogen compounds. It is also indicated that dry depositions of sulfur and nitrogen compounds are unable to ignore compared with their wet depositions.  相似文献

This study aims to identify the possible roles of a floodplain inbiogeochemical nitrogen cycles, based on analysis of groundwaterdynamics of inorganic nitrogen species. Groundwater samples collected from boreholes made of poly vinyl chloride located onthe floodplain in the middle reach of the Tama River, Nagata district were analyzed for dissolved organic carbon, dissolved oxygen, inorganic nitrogen compounds, major anions and the stableisotope ratio of nitrate-nitrogen.Dissolved oxygen in groundwater samples collected from marked borehole (G-5) was low (50 ± 16 μM) and nitrate decreasedfrom 63 μM to < 10 μM during our research period. Concentrations of nitrate, nitrite and nitrous oxide decreased one after the other. These decreases in concentration, combinedwith 15N-enrichment of groundwater nitrate suggest denitrification as a significant nitrate sink, yielding an isotopic fractionation of nitrate-nitrogen with an enrichment factor (ε= –17.9‰) that is comparable tothose in various soil and groundwater systems. This study provesthat floodplains can perform as nitrogen sinks for groundwaterin river catchments.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the developmental capacity of domestic cat-bovine reconstructed embryos via interspecies somatic cell nuclear transfer (iSCNT) and to observe the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) content of the iSCNT embryos. The iSCNT embryos were generated using mixed-breed domestic cat fibroblasts as donor cells and enucleated bovine oocytes as the recipient cytoplasm. When the developmental capacities of iSCNT embryos and parthenogenic bovine embryos were compared, there was no difference (P>0.05) in the rates of cleavage and development to the 8-cell stage (86.6 vs. 84.0% and 32.2 vs. 36.2%, respectively). However, in contrast to development of parthenogenic embryos to the morula and blastocyst stages, no iSCNT embryos (0/202) developed beyond the 8-cell stage. For mtDNA analysis, iSCNT embryos at the 1-cell, 2-cell, 4-cell and 8-cell stages were randomly selected. Both cat and bovine mtDNA quantification analysis were performed using quantitative PCR. The levels of both cat and bovine mtDNA in cat-bovine iSCNT embryos varied at each stage of development. The cat mtDNA concentration in the iSCNT embryos was stable from the 1-cell to 8-cell stages. The bovine mtDNA in the iSCNT embryos at the 8-cell stage was significantly lower than that at the 4-cell stage (P<0.05). No difference in the proportions of cat mtDNA in the iSCNT embryos was found in any of the observed developmental stages (1- through 8-cell stages). In conclusion, bovine cytoplasm supports domestic cat nucleus development through the 8-cell stage. The mtDNA genotype of domestic cat-bovine iSCNT embryos illustrates persistence of heteroplasmy, and the reduction in mtDNA content might reflect a developmental block at the 8-cell stage.  相似文献

In order to assess direct seeding of rice technology to cope with future agricultural labor shortage in Cambodia, agronomic experiments were conducted in 2005 and 2006 to compare direct seeding with transplanting under three water conditions (non-flooded, shallow flooded, and deep flooded conditions) with/without weed control by herbicides (bentazone and cyhalofop-butyl) for two Cambodian rice varieties (shorter stature and early maturity Sen Pidao, taller stature and longer maturity Phka Rumduol). Average rice yield in 2 years was lower in direct seeding (341 g m−2) than transplanting (404 g m−2), but interaction components with year, varieties, water conditions, and weed management were significant, and the attained maximum yield of direct seeding (510 and 464 g m−2 for Phka Rumduol variety in shallow flooded condition with weeding in 2005 and 2006, respectively) was similar to that of transplanting. Plant length and dry weight of rice were reduced in non-flooded and deep flooded conditions compared with shallow flooded condition, and grain yield was the highest in shallow flooded condition. Yield advantage of Phka Rumduol over Sen Pidao increased under direct seeding, particularly under non-flooded conditions in 2005 because weed infestation was more suppressed in Phka Rumduol even without weeding. Increase in 100 g m−2 of weed infestation prior to heading (dry weight basis) reduced about 20% of attainable yield with weed control. This study identified importance of stature and growth duration of rice varieties and presence of standing water as well as the weed control, in order to develop and extend direct seeding in the Cambodia.  相似文献

To evaluate whether hemodialysis with a dialysate containing no calcium (Ca-free HD) can induce hypocalcemia and restore the clinical signs and blood biochemical changes in naturally occurred hypocalcemic disorder in ruminants, the clinical signs and the changes in plasma electrolytes and minerals concentrations were observed in goats during 6-hr hemodialysis. The four goats received hemodialysis with the dialysate containing calcium (Ca HD), and 10 days later they had Ca-free HD. The plasma ionized Ca (Ca++) and total Ca (TCa) concentrations were not affected by Ca HD, whereas the levels significantly decreased during whole period of Ca-free HD. The Ca++ and TCa concentrations were 0.69+/-0.06 mmol/l and 5.9+/-0.3 mg/dl at 6 hr of Ca-free HD, respectively. The clinical signs observed during Ca-free HD seemed to resemble to those in naturally occurred hypocalcemic cases that were reported previously. Therefore, Ca-free HD was suggested to be one of the possible methods to induce experimental hypocalcemia in ruminants.  相似文献

Typhula winter rot on overwintering carrots caused by Typhula variabilis is a newly confirmed disease, and no practical control measure is yet available. To develop a control method, here we researched the infection period of T. variabilis and the time that winter rot appeared on carrots. Using spore traps, we found that basidiospore rain occurred from September to November before snowfall in Memuro, Hokkaido. In addition, carrot leaves collected in autumn had already been infected by T. variabilis. These epidemiological investigations revealed that the pathogen releases basidiospores to infect carrot leaves before snow cover, resulting in root decay under snow. An effective control method was then developed to avoid direct contact of basidiospores of T. variabilis with plant tops by covering the plants with soil in autumn. Thus, the percentage of rotted roots was reduced to about half.  相似文献
