This study uses simulations to investigate the effects of implementing two different Japanese forestry subsidy systems on timber production and carbon stock, and examines the consequences for harvesting strategies. An existing Local Yield Table Construction System (LYCS), a wood conversion algorithm, and a harvesting cost model were used in the simulations to test the applicability of different subsidies to the thinning of stands. Using forest inventory data collected by local government staff, simulation output was used to calculate forestry profits, carbon stocks, subsidies, the amount of labor required, and the cost effectiveness of investing in subsidies. By comparing the output of simulations based on two scenarios, we found that both the clear-cutting area and the amount of harvested timber were larger under Scenario 2, in which the rules governing subsidy allocations are more relaxed, than under Scenario 1, in which the rules are more restrictive. Because the harvested timber under Scenario 1 was mainly produced by clear-cutting, the forestry profits and the subsidy predicted in the early period of the simulation, were larger under Scenario 1 than under Scenario 2. In contrast, the carbon stock was larger under Scenario 2 than under Scenario 1. A set of representative 146 adzuki (Vigna angularis var. angularis, and var. nipponensis)germplasm from 6 Asian countries traditionally for adzuki bean production, together with an out group stand-ard rice bean (Vigna umbellata), were analyzed by AFLP methodology using 12 informative primer pairs.313 unambiguous polymorphic bands were created. According to the dendrogram by cluster analysis based onAFLP banding, 143 of the accessions were distinct and revealed enough genetic diversity for identification andclassification of accessions within Vigna angularis. A neighbor joining tree was generated using newly devel-oped Innan's nucleotide diversity estimate from the AFLP data. From analysis, 7 distinct evolutionary groups,named as "Chinese cultivated", "Japanese cultivated", "Japanese complex-Korean cultivated", "Chinesewild", "China Taiwan wild", "Nepal-Bhutan cultivated" and "Hymalayan wild", were detected. Nucleotidediversity with geographical distribution of each group is discussed, regarding the evolutionary relationships be-tween wild and cultivated adzuki beans. Absorption and metabolism of a natural compound, 6-O-caffeoylsophorose (CS) from acylated anthocyanins in a red vinegar fermented with purple sweet potato, were clarified. The absorption of CS and conjugated CS in blood from orally administrated Sprague-Dawley rats at a dose of 400 mg/kg was investigated by electrochemical detection-high performance liquid chromatography. As a result, CS was successfully detected in rat plasma (AUC(0-6h), 108.6 ± 8.1 nmol h/mL) and was found to be an intact absorbable polyphenol. In addition, half of the absorbed CS was detected as its conjugates (AUC(0-6h), 50.7 ± 5.7 nmol h/mL) as well as caffeic and ferulic acids from CS. By a time-of-flight-mass spectrometric analysis of CS-administered plasma sample, glucuronide and methylated conjugates of CS were identified, in addition to glucuronide, methylated, or sulfate conjugates of caffeic and ferulic acids. Consequently, CS was absorbed in intact form into rat blood and partly degraded to caffeic and ferulic acids or metabolized by glucuronidation, methylation, or sulfatation. 相似文献

The purposes of the present study were to clarify age- and season- related androgen
patterns, and to compare the reproductive physiology between Japanese captive koala
populations and Australian populations. To measure fecal androgens, feces were collected
from male koalas (4.2 to 13.8 years of age) kept in Japanese zoos. Fecal androgens were
extracted with methanol from the lyophilized samples and determined by enzyme immunoassay
using 4-androstene-3,17-dione antibody. Fecal androgen concentration in male koalas
increased after sexual maturation and remained relatively high until old age. In the
survey with the Japanese zoo studbook of koalas, copulation (conception) month showed a
pyramid shape with a peak in March to June (60.7%) in koalas born and reared in Japanese
zoos and from July to April with the highest concentration in September to January (69.7%)
in Australian institutes. Japanese zoo koala populations have a characteristic
physiological cycle adapted to Japan''s seasonal changes. The suitable month of year for
copulation or conception in Japan is diametrically opposed to that in Australia. Mean
fecal androgen concentrations by month in the males born and reared in Japan indicated
annual changes with the highest concentration in May and the lowest value in November.
Fecal androgen analysis may be a noninvasive alternative tool to monitor circulating
testosterone and may be helpful in understanding reproductive activity and physiology in

Since chloroplasts and mitochondria are maternally inherited and have unique features in evolution, DNA sequences of those organelle genomes have been broadly used in phylogenetic studies. Thanks to recent progress in next-generation sequencer (NGS) technology, whole-genome sequencing can be easily performed. Here, using NGS data generated by Roche GS Titanium and Illumina Hiseq 2000, we performed a hybrid assembly of organelle genome sequences of Vigna angularis (azuki bean). Both the mitochondrial genome (mtDNA) and the chloroplast genome (cpDNA) of V. angularis have very similar size and gene content to those of V. radiata (mungbean). However, in structure, mtDNA sequences have undergone many recombination events after divergence from the common ancestor of V. angularis and V. radiata, whereas cpDNAs are almost identical between the two. The stability of cpDNAs and the variability of mtDNAs was further confirmed by comparative analysis of Vigna organelles with model plants Lotus japonicus and Arabidopsis thaliana. 相似文献

We isolated ascomycetous yeasts including Candida species, that originally belonged to the genus Candida, from bulk milk in the Aichi area of Japan, and determined the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of antifungal drugs on these isolates by conducting E-tests. We isolated 7 human pathogenic species (14 isolates) from 14 bulk milk samples: 5 Candida species of yeasts, and 2 Candida-related species. Two isolates of C. albicans and C. inconspicua were resistant to fluconazole (MIC >32 mg/l). One isolate of C. krusei was resistant to both azoles (fluconazole: >256 mg/ml and itraconazole: 4 mg/l). One isolate of C. catenulata might be resistant to amphotericin B (>32 mg/l). 相似文献
