Bulk milk samples from 220 dairy herds were collected at 9 public milk collection centres in the northeastern and northern Thailand, and a subset of 11 herds was selected for individual testing. The samples were tested for presence of antibodies to BVDV and BHV-1 using an indirect ELISA. The results from the bulk milk testing demonstrated a moderate level of exposure to BVDV and BHV-1 (73% and 67%, respectively). However, the low proportion of herds with high BVDV antibody-levels (13%) and the low within-herd seroprevalence of BVDV and BHV-1 in the 11 herds (24% and 5%, respectively), particularly among the young stock (15% and 0%, respectively), demonstrated a low prevalence of active BVDV infection and a low rate of reactivation of latent BHV-1. The presence of a self-clearance process was also indicated by the results from the individual testing. Moreover, a surprisingly low prevalence of BVDV and BHV-1 antibody-positive herds at one of the milk centres was found. This centre was established 5-10 years before the others. Our impression is that this reflects the self-clearance process, where consecutive replacement of imported infected animals without further spread has resulted in a nearly total elimination of the infections. Based on our experiences and on these results we are convinced that this process can continue if there is awareness of herd biosecurity. This is especially important in the context of a future intensification of the dairy production. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of IM administration of acepromazine on indices of relative renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) by means of scintigraphy, as well as the effects on physiologic, hematologic, and serum biochemical variables in anesthetized dogs, compared with effects of administration of saline. ANIMAL: 6 healthy Beagles. PROCEDURE: Acepromazine (0.1 mg/kg) or physiologic saline (0.9 NaCI) solution was administered IM 30 minutes prior to induction of anesthesia with thiopentone; anesthesia was maintained with inspired isoflurane for 2.25 hours. Blood gases and circulatory and ventilatory variables were monitored. Renal function was evaluated by scintigraphic measurements of GFR and relative renal blood flow and analyses of serum and urine. Statistical analyses used ANOVA or Friedman ANOVA. RESULTS: Values of relative renal blood flow and GFR remained high despite low blood pressures. After administration of acepromazine, mean +/- SD arterial blood pressure was 66 +/- 8 mm Hg during anesthesia; this value was below the threshold (80 mm Hg) for renal autoregulation of GFR. In comparison, mean arterial blood pressure after administration of saline was significantly higher (87 +/- 13 mm Hg). However, between treatments, there were no significant differences in GFR, relative renal blood flow, or other indices of renal function. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Measurements of renal function and blood flow in dogs during anesthesia with thiopentone and isoflurane did not differ significantly between treatments, which suggested that acepromazine protects renal function despite inducing reduction in blood pressure, compared with effects of administration of saline. 相似文献

The sources of variability in variability of scintigraphic measurements of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) have not been determined. The day to day variability of GFR was studied in 18 healthy beagle dogs. The renal uptake of 99mTc-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) of each dog was measured using a scintigraphic technique three times at intervals of 5-26 days. GFR was calculated from a regression equation relating uptake to plasma clearance, derived in our laboratory. The mean GFR was 3.97 +/- 0.72 (SD) ml/min/kg with values from 2.66 to 5.67 ml/min/kg. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) using a linear mixed model showed that most variability is a result of the dogs, less because of day to day variability and very little to the measurement variability. The repeatability coefficients for the day to day variability and measurement variability were 1.06 and 0.21 ml/min/kg respectively. The day to day variability can be caused by physiological homeostatic adjustments by the kidneys needed because of fluctuations in food and fluid intake, each dog's individual capacity to adjust, and to intrinsic errors in the measurement method. These results should be considered when using the scintigraphic method for clinical evaluation and research. 相似文献

During a study on Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) epidemiology in Thailand, a pestivirus was detected in serum from a calf. Comparative nucleotide sequence analysis showed that this virus was closely related to a recently described atypical pestivirus (D32/00_'HoBi') that was first isolated from a batch of foetal calf serum collected in Brazil. The results from virus neutralisation tests performed on sera collected from cattle in the herd of the infected calf, showed that these cattle had markedly higher antibody titres against the atypical pestivirus 'HoBi' than against Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus types 1 and 2, or Border Disease Virus. The results also supported, consequently, the results from the molecular analysis, and demonstrated that a 'HoBi'-like pestivirus had been introduced to, and was now circulating in the herd. This study is the first to report a natural infection in cattle with a virus related to this atypical pestivirus, and it suggests that this group of pestiviruses may already be spread in cattle populations. The findings have implications for BVD control and for the biosafety of vaccines and other biological products produced with foetal calf serum. Consequently, these atypical pestiviruses should be included in serological assays, and any diagnostic assay aimed at detection of pestiviruses in biological products or animals should be tested for its ability to detect them. 相似文献
