Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) is a hardy and nutritious Latin American pseudo-cereal. Studies on the seeds led to the isolation of five ecdysteroids using column chromatography. Their structures were determined as ecdysterone, makisterone A, 24-epi-makisterone A, 24(28)-dehydromakisterone A, and 20,26-dihydroxyecdysone by spectroscopic methods. This study demonstrates that quinoa seeds are a source of ecdysteroids, which were reported to be molting hormones in insects.  相似文献

It has long been an open question whether individual rod receptors in the mammalian retina show any light adaptation. The prevailing evidence so far has suggested that these cells, unlike those in lower vertebrates, adapt little if at all. The experiments on cat rods reported here, however, indicate that this is not really true. Since the cone system in the cat retina has a fairly high light threshold, the rods also need to adapt so that they do not saturate with light before the cones fully take over vision at higher light intensities. In similar experiments, adaptation was found in rods of other mammalian species, including primates.  相似文献

More than half of orally administered N-cyclohexyl linoleamide-car-boxyl-C(14) yl-CI was recovered from feces of rats, and 30 to 50 percent of the absorbed carbon-14 activity was excreted in urine. N-Cyclohexyl linoleamide had an inhibitory eflect on the absorption of cholesterol from the thoracic duct and caused a decrease in the deposition of cholesterol in the livers of rats that had been fed cholesterol.  相似文献

The application of tannery sludge to soils is a form of recycling; however, few studies have examined the impacts of this practice on soil microbial properties. We studied effects of two applications (2006 and 2007) of tannery sludge (with a low chromium content) on the structure of the bacterial community and on the microbial activity of soils. We fertilized an agricultural area in Rolândia, Paraná state, Brazil with different doses of sludge based on total N content, which ranged from 0 to 1200 kg N ha−1. Sludge remained on the soil surface for three months before being plowed. Soils were sampled seven times during the experiment. Bacterial community structure, assessed by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE), was modified by the application of tannery sludge. Soon after the first application, there was clear separation between the bacterial communities in different treatments, such that each dose of sludge was associated with a specific community. These differences remained until 300 days after application and also after the second sludge application, but 666 days after the beginning of the experiment no differences were found in the bacterial communities of the lowest doses and the control. The principal response curve (PRC) analysis showed that the first sludge application strongly stimulated biological activity even 300 days after application. The second application also stimulated activity, but at a lower magnitude and for a shorter time, given that 260 days after the second application there was no difference in biological activity among treatments. PRC also showed that the properties most influenced by the application of tannery sludge were enzymatic activities related to N cycling (asparaginase and urease). The redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that tannery sludge’s influence on microbial activity is mainly related to increases in inorganic N and soil pH. Results showed that changes in the structure of the bacterial community in the studied soils were directly related to changes of their biological activity.  相似文献

We analyze the history of acid rain in China over the last three decades in the light of the relationship between China and Japan. China has been aware of the problem of acid rain and has been conducting scientific research since the late 1970s. However, little effort has been put into practical countermeasures. In the early 1990s, acid rain was re-evaluated as an international environmental problem. Meanwhile, Japan became concerned about trans-boundary air pollution from China. What is important is that Japan's concern strongly influences China's acid rain policy. In the context of growing international concern for environmental problems, China has taken remarkable steps to control acid rain. In this respect, dealing with acid rain is an issue of national pride for China.  相似文献

Two known glycosides and a novel trisaccharide fatty acid ester were isolated from the n-butanol-soluble fraction of the fruits of Morinda citrifolia (noni). Structure determination was carried out by spectral techniques such as MS, IR, NMR, and 2D-NMR. The novel trisaccharide fatty acid ester was elucidated as 2, 6-di-O-(beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-1-O-octanoyl-beta-D-glucopyranose. The known compounds were identified as rutin and asperulosidic acid.  相似文献

One sphingolipid, 1-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(2S,3R,4E,8Z)-2-[(2R)-2-hydroxyhexadecanoylamino]-4,8-octadecadiene-1,3-diol, and four other constituents, beta-sitosterol, daucosterol, uridine, and adenosine, have been isolated from the nuts of almond (Prunus amygdalus). Complete assignments of the proton and carbon chemical shifts for the sphingolipid were accomplished on the basis of high-resolution 1D and 2D NMR data. All of these compounds are being reported from almond nuts (P. amygdalus)for the first time.  相似文献

Enzymes of aerobic and anaerobic glycolysis, glutathione cycling, and nucleotide metabolism were assayed on erythrocytes from 7 healthy rhinoceroses, 2 rhinoceroses during periods of intravascular hemolysis, and 1 rhinoceros without clinical signs of illness, which was the mother of 3 offspring with intravascular hemolytic syndrome. Measurements also were made of erythrocyte concentrations of glycolytic intermediates, adenine nucleotides, and glutathione. Although comparison of results for healthy and affected rhinoceroses did not identify an enzyme abnormality as a cause for the hemolytic syndrome, the data provided information regarding the metabolic characteristics of erythrocytes from healthy rhinoceroses.  相似文献

The factors which cause lindane resistance in the Third Yumenoshima strain, a strain of house flies highly resistant to insecticides, were studied using hexadeuterated lindane. Hexadeuterated lindane has the same physicochemical properties as lindane, but the former is much less biodegradable than the latter. The LD50 ratio of lindane to hexadeuterated lindane in this strain, deuterium isotope effect on LD50 values, was larger than that in SNAIDM, a susceptible (nonresistant) strain. The penetration rates of labeled and nonlabeled lindane through the insect cuticle were about the same for both strains. Thus, penetration rate does not cause resistance. The metabolic degradation of lindane in the resistant strain in vivo occurred much faster than in the susceptible strain. This was also the case for lindane degradation processes in vitro such as microsomal oxidation and glutathione conjugation. In both strains, significant isotope effects were observed in the degradation rates in vitro of labeled and nonlabeled lindane. Therefore, principal biodegradation and detoxication pathways should include reactions which cleave the CH bonds. When the much less biodegradable d6 counterpart of lindane was applied to both strains, the susceptible strain became much more highly intoxicated than the other within 20 to 30 min. This indicates that a combination of both greater degradability and probably lower sensitivity at the action site are the main factors underlying resistance in the Third Yumenoshima strain.  相似文献

The insecticidal activity of lindane analogs, in which some chlorine atoms were replaced by other groups susceptible to microsomal oxidative metabolism, was determined against mosquitos, house flies, and German cockroaches. When tested with a synergist, piperonyl butoxide, one of the methylthio analogs was as active as lindane, whereas several others were also highly active. By examining the ratio of synergized and unsynergized LD50 values (synergistic ratio value), the highly insecticidal methylthio, methoxy, and methyl analogs appear to undergo metabolic detoxication effectively in house flies. By means of in vitro metabolism experiments using microsomal fraction from house fly abdomen, the methoxy, ethoxy, and methylthio analogs were shown to be metabolized rapidly at similar rates. The synergized insecticidal activities of these compounds against various insect species relate linearly with each other, suggesting that the oxidative degradation is inhibited by the synergist to a similar extent and that the transport process to the site of action is not a limiting factor in determining the relative insecticidal activity.  相似文献
