Boron (B) deficiency causes a wide array of symptoms, not only among species of palms, but also within a single species (i.e. Cocos nucifera). A better understanding of the effects of B deficiency in coconut will be important to try optimizing a rational fertilization management in coconut plants. Thus, modification of PSII photochemistry (using a group of fluorescence parameters, called the JIP- test, that quantify the stepwise flow of energy through Photosystem II) and gas-exchange in boron deficient green dwarf coconut plants were investigated. Our results suggest that a modification of PSII photochemistry (non-stomatic effects) and gas-exchange (stomatic effects) were induced by boron deficiency. Such modifications are manifested by (1) increase the ratio of total dissipation to the amount of active reaction centers (RCs) [dissipation (DI)/RC] and (2) leaf-to-air vapor pressure difference (VPDleaf-air). These modifications (on PSII photochemistry and gas-exchange) were caused by a decrease in energy absorbed per excited cross-section [absorption flux (ABS)/cross section of the sample (CS0)], density of active reaction centers (RC/CS), maximal trapping rate of an exciton that will lead to QA reduction measured over a cross- section of active and inactive RCs [trapping flux (TR)/CS0], electron transport per excited cross-section [electron transport flux (ET0)/CS)], area above curve (proportional to the pool size of the electron acceptors QA on the reducing side of PSII), photosynthesis (A), stomatal conductance (gs), transpiration (E), chlorophyll concentration (SPAD readings), growth parameters (root DW and height plant). Our results demonstrate that by analyzing fluorescence (JIP test parameters) derived from the polyphasic fluorescence transients measurements were able to estimate the functional changes of PSII in B deficient coconut plants. The results in this study suggest that fluorescence analysis (JIP test) and instantaneous measurements of gas-exchange can be useful tools in assessing the physiological effects of B deficiency in green dwarf coconut.  相似文献

IS901 RFLP analysis of 36 Mycobacterium avium subsp. avium (MAA) isolates from 15 pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) and two goshawks (Accipiter gentilis) from four pheasant farms was performed. Using this method, six different IS901 RFLP types (E, F, G, M, Q, and V) were identified. The distribution of IS901 RFLP profiles was tightly linked to individual flocks. Matching IS901 RFLP profiles observed in the present study indicate MAA transmission between pheasants and goshawks in the same locality. In two flocks, different pheasants within a flock as well as in various organs of five individual pheasants were found to have two distinct IS901 RFLP profiles.  相似文献

Earlier studies of postmining heaps near Sokolov, Czech Republic (0–46 years old) showed that massive changes in plant community composition occur around 23 year of succession when the heaps are colonized by the earthworms Lumbricus rubellus (Hoffm.) and Aporrectodea caliginosa (Savigny). The aim of the current study was to test the hypothesis that the introduction of earthworms into a postmining soil enhances growth of late succession plant species. In a laboratory experiment, earthworms significantly increased biomass of Festuca rubra and Trifolium hybridum grown in soil from a 17-year-old site. The biomass increase corresponded to a significant decrease in pH and an increase in oxidable C, total N, and exchangeable P, K, and Ca content. A second laboratory experiment showed higher biomass production of late successional plant community (Arrhenatherum elatius, Agrostis capillaris, Centaurea jacea, Plantago lanceolata, Lotus corniculatus, and Trifolium medium) in soil from late successional stage (46 years old); the introduction of earthworms into soil from an early successional stage (17 years old) increased biomass production. In a field experiment, introduction of L. rubellus to enclosures containing a 17-year-old soil not colonized by earthworms significantly increased the biomass of grasses after 1 year. The results support the hypothesis that colonization of postmining areas by earthworms can substantially modify soil properties and plant growth.  相似文献

Subcritical water extraction of antioxidant compounds from rosemary plants   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
Subcritical water extraction at several temperatures ranging from 25 to 200 degrees C has been studied to selectively extract antioxidant compounds from rosemary leaves. An exhaustive characterization of the fractions obtained using subcritical water at different temperatures has been carried out by LC-MS, and the antioxidant activities of the extracts have been measured by a free radical method (DPPH). Results indicate high selectivity of the subcritical water toward the most active compounds of rosemary such as carnosol, rosmanol, carnosic acid, methyl carnosate, and some flavonoids such as cirsimaritin and genkwanin. The antioxidant activity of the fractions obtained by extraction at different water temperatures was very high, with values around 11.3 microg/mL, comparable to those achieved by SFE of rosemary leaves. A study of the effect of the temperature on the extraction efficiency of the most typical rosemary antioxidant compounds has been performed.  相似文献

The possibility that Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) plays some role in the development of Crohn's disease in humans is attracting attention to milk and milk products originating from infected animals. In this study, we focused on the detection of MAP in 220 bulk tank milk (BTM) samples from all dairy cattle herds in Cyprus. In total, 63 (28.6%) BTM milk samples were found to be positive for MAP using quantitative real-time PCR assays for IS900 and F57. The presence of MAP in BTM was low, and was assessed to be several tens of MAP cells per one ml of BTM. Milk samples examined by cultivation were found to be negative for MAP in all 220 BTM. In two BTM samples cultivation and subsequent sequencing of 16S rRNA revealed two isolates of M. fortuitum.  相似文献

Dogs represent both an important veterinary species and a convenient model for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Even though anti-canine CD34 antibodies have recently become available, little is known about hematopoietic lineages in dogs, partially because CD34- cells have been ignored in all analyses performed so far. In this study, we have focused on the bone marrow mononuclear compartment to provide an additional piece of information on the phenotype of CD34+ progenitors and to identify the dominant CD34- population. We have shown that, in contrast to the adults, mature lymphocytes are scarce in neonatal dog bone marrow. Using cross-reactive antibodies against CD79alpha we have shown that the B lineage of hematopoiesis strongly prevails. CD34+ cells were shown to be positive for MHC class II and SWC3, a member of the signal regulatory protein family.  相似文献
