Abstract  The contraction of Tenualosa macrura (Bleeker) to the Sarawak coast and a small part of Sumatra, and the decline in its fishery mirror what has happened to three other species in the genus. Little was known of this species in its last stronghold in Sarawak where it is important for management and conservation reasons to understand its biology and life history. It forms part of a multispecies fishery where effort is uniform, but catches follow a lunar cycle. Tenualosa macrura is protandrous, but low numbers of small females suggest diandry. In Sumatra Tenualosa macrura spawn throughout the year, but in Sarawak have a seasonal peak in the NE monsoon (December). This has management implications because the Sarawak fishery ceases at this time because of adverse weather, hence reducing fishing pressure on spawning T. macrura . Management measures introduced in Sarawak for Tenualosa toli (Valenciennes) may therefore not be required for T. macrura .  相似文献

Corneal lesions appearing as white mass beneath intact epithelium, with ocular discharge in one mouse, was observed in a batch of laboratory-raised BALB/c mice (n=9 of 56). The affected mice remained active, well-groomed and had normal appetite. Isolates recovered from swab cultures of the external and internal contents of the eye had partial 16S rRNA gene sequence of 99.1% similarity to Streptococcus cuniculi. No previous report of S. cuniculi infection in laboratory rodents has been presented. The isolate was susceptible to all antibiotics tested. We suggest S. cuniculi is an opportunistic bacteria in laboratory mice but are uncertain of its source. Our findings revealed that S. cuniculi is able to colonize laboratory mice and should be considered when mice present with eye lesion or ocular discharge.  相似文献

The aims of this study were to purify and localize the nitric oxide synthases (NOSs) from hybrid tilapia (Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus x Mozambique tilapia O. mossambicus). The purification procedures involved affinity chromatography with a 2', 5'-ADP-agarose 4B column and ion exchange with a diethylaminoethanol Bio-Gel A column. The results from gel filtration assays showed that the molecular weights of neuronal NOS (nNOS) and inducible NOS (iNOS) were 178 and 120 kDa, respectively. The sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis results showed that there were three bands with molecular weights of 89, 47, and 29 kDa from the purified nNOS. However, only one band, with a molecular weight of 120 kDa, appeared on the gel from the purified iNOS. Hybrid tilapia nNOS was a dimer structure, while iNOS appeared to be a monomer structure. Moreover, our results revealed that the activities of nNOS and iNOS were significantly higher after the addition of Ca+2 or Mg+2 ions individually. However, when L-arginine and NADPH were present, the addition of 1 mM of either ion did not further increase the activity. The chemical L-N(G)-methyl-L-arginine could inhibit the activities of the purified NOSs with or without L-arginine. Western blot analyses showed only an 89-kDa immunoreactive band from the extracts of cerebrum; however, we did not find the specific bands in other tissues, such as gill, intestine, liver, spleen, and anterior kidney. We found another 120-kDa immunoreactive protein band with the rabbit antirat iNOS serum against iNOS from the extracts of anterior kidney and spleen. The results of immunohistochemistry with the rabbit antihuman nNOS serum indicated that the nNOS existed in the cerebellum, olfactory bulb, diencephalons, and nerve cell bodies and neuronal fibers of the spinal cord. Interestingly, only macrophages from anterior kidney and spleen showed positive reactions with the rabbit antirat iNOS serum. In the same way, the endothelial NOS (eNOS) located in the heart and epithelial cells of the blood vessels reacted positively with the rabbit antibovine eNOS serum.  相似文献

Based on legacy soil data from a soil survey conducted recently in the traditional manner in Hong Kong of China, a digital soil mapping method was applied to produce soil order information for mountain areas of Hong Kong. Two modeling methods (decision tree analysis and linear discriminant analysis) were used, and their applications were compared. Much more eflort was put on selecting soil covariates for modeling. First, analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test the variance of terrain attributes between soil orders. Then, a stepwise procedure was used to select soil covariates for linear discriminant analysis, and a backward removing procedure was developed to select soil covariates for tree modeling. At the same time, ANOVA results, as well as our knowledge and experience on soil mapping, were also taken into account for selecting soil covariates for tree modeling. Two linear discriminant models and four tree models were established finally, and their prediction performances were validated using a multiple jackknifing approach. Results showed that the discriminant model built on ANOVA results performed best, followed by the discriminant model built by stepwise, the tree model built by the backward removing procedure, the tree model built according to knowledge and experience on soil mapping, and the tree model built automatically. The results highlighted the importance of selecting soil covariates in modeling for soil mapping, and suggested the usefulness of methods used in this study for selecting soil covariates. The best discriminant model was finally selected to map soil orders for this area, and validation results showed that thus produced soil order map had a high accuracy.  相似文献

对好氧剩余污泥重金属生物沥滤过程中可能存在的抑制作用进行了系统研究.结果表明,丽华污泥(取自常州丽华污水处理厂)和城东污泥(苏州城东污水处理厂)及其上清液对氧化亚铁硫杆菌(Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans)的生长及Fe2 氧化作用均具有强烈抑制作用,而乙酸和丙酸是引起上述抑制作用的主要因子.采用不同固体含量污泥悬液进行模拟培养试验,结果证明污泥中的乙酸和丙酸主要来源于浓缩池内污泥有机质的厌氧分解.在污泥生物沥滤过程中,乙酸和丙酸的存在对Zn的溶出效率没有不利影响,但污泥的酸化速率显著下降,丽华污泥和城东污泥中Cu的沥滤时间分别比对照延长6 d和2 d,严重影响生物沥滤工艺的总体效率.  相似文献

采用倒置“W”9点取样法对青海保护性耕作农田杂草种类进行了调查,以明确田间杂草的种类组成及群落结构.结果表明,青海省保护性耕作农田杂草有67种,隶属于25科,其中优势杂草有密花香薷(Elsholtzia densa Benth)、猪殃殃(Galium maborasense Masamune)、野燕麦(Avena fatua Linn.)、藜(Chenopodium album L.)、苣荬菜(Sonhus arvensis Linn.)、大刺儿菜(Cephalanoplos setosum(Willd.) Kitam.)6种,是构成青海各地区保护性耕作农田杂草群落的主要优势种,区域性优势杂草有5种,常见杂草有17种,一般杂草有39种.湟中地区主要形成猪殃殃+密花香薷+藜+野燕麦+大刺儿菜+芦苇+尼泊尔蓼为主的杂草群落;民和地区为狗尾草+藜+扁蓄+野燕麦+田旋花+荞麦蔓+大刺儿菜,平安地区为野燕麦+猪殃殃+苣荬菜+大刺儿菜+赖草+荞麦蔓+密花香薷+扁蓄+泽漆,化隆地区为薄蒴草+猪殃殃+野燕麦+荞麦蔓+苣荬菜+密花香薷,大通地区为野燕麦+猪殃殃+藜+大刺儿菜+问荆+密花香薷,刚察地区为密花香薷+西伯利亚蓼+薄蒴草+藜+微孔草+旱雀麦+苣荬菜+野胡萝卜.湟中和大通地区保护性耕作农田杂草群落的物种丰富度、多样性及均匀度较其它地区高,而优势度较低.从群落相似性来看,湟中和大通群落结构最为相似.地理环境、气候条件及控草措施的不同,可能是导致保护性耕作农田杂草发生及群落组成产生差异的原因.  相似文献

福寿螺是为害茭白的主要有害生物之一。茭白田套养中华鳖防治福寿螺效果试验表明,中华鳖对福寿螺有很强的捕食能力,日均取食量达到自身体重的60%左右,对福寿螺有极佳的田间控制作用,并且具有环保、生态、安全等特点。同时还因种养结合,极大地提高了茭农的经济效益,每667 m2收益最高达11 791元。  相似文献

Cold tolerant isolates of Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis ( Ggg ) and Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia), which produced at least comparable growth rates at 5°C to those of pathogenic G. graminis var. tritici ( Ggt ), were shown to control take-all disease in wheat effectively in 2 years of field experiments in New South Wales, Australia. The addition of oat inoculum of these fungi at the rate of 60 kg/ha to the seeding furrow significantly ( P  ≤ 0.05) reduced disease and increased grain yields by 33–45% compared to the Ggt alone treatment. The use of 30 kg/ha of oat inoculum also significantly ( P  ≤ 0.05) reduced disease and increased grain yields by 21–44%. These high levels of take-all control were obtained consistently from four field experiments on three different soil types with different pHs. A treatment inoculated with Ggg alone showed no disease symptoms and produced grain yields similar to that of untreated wheat. This fungus is, therefore, non-pathogenic to wheat. At high rates of inoculation of Ggg and Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia), 65–80% of tillering wheat plants (GS 32) had root systems colonized by these fungi. In contrast, two Pseudomonas spp. and an isolate each of Ggg and Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia), which did not grow at 5°C, were ineffective in controlling take-all. Take-all assessments during heading (GS 61-83) were highly correlated ( R 2=0.6047, P ≤0.0005) with the relative yield increase or decrease of inoculated treatments compared to the Ggt alone treatment. The use of a Ggg isolate (90/3B) and a Phialophora sp. (lobed hyphopodia) isolate (KY) for take-all control has been patented. These fungi are being developed for commercial use.  相似文献
