Alkaloids are a large and structurally diverse group of marine-derived natural products. Most marine-derived alkaloids are biologically active and show promising applications in modern (agro)chemical, pharmaceutical, and fine chemical industries. Different approaches have been established to access these marine-derived alkaloids. Among these employed methods, biotechnological approaches, namely, (chemo)enzymatic synthesis, have significant potential for playing a central role in alkaloid production on an industrial scale. In this review, we discuss research progress on marine-derived alkaloid synthesis via enzymatic reactions and note the advantages and disadvantages of their applications for industrial production, as well as green chemistry for marine natural product research. 相似文献

Background, Goal and Scope To date, standardised bioassays for the assessment of the ecotoxicological potential in sediments and dredged material use
test organisms like bacteria, algae and crustaceae. This paper presents the development and application of a novel sediment
contact test (whole sediment) withMyriophyllum aquaticum, a representative of rooted aquatic macrophytes. The aim of the present study is to demonstrate the value of a sediment contact
test with rooted macrophytes as a supplement to existing test batteries in order to improve the assessment of sediment toxicity.
Methods The newly developed sediment contact test withMyriophylhim aquaticum was applied to natural whole sediments. For performing the test, whorls ofMyriophyllum aquaticum were directly planted in the native sediment and incubated in the light at 24°C (cf. section results and discussion). The
end points of the test were the number of the shoots and the fresh weight of the whole plants. The duckweed growth inhibition
test withLemna minor according to ISO/DIS 20079 was performed in pore waters from sediment samples. The results of the sediment contact test withMyriophyllum aquaticum were compared with each other and with those of the aquatic duckweed test.
Results and Discussion A test protocol for the new plant-based sediment contact test using the aquatic plantMyriophyllum aquaticum as an indicator was developed. The best control sediment proved to be the OECD sediment (OECD 207). A test period of 10 days
appeared to be sufficient for the test. The increase of biomass and the derived growth rate were found to be the most suitable
evaluation parameters. The growth behaviour ofMyriophyllum aquaticum differed depending on the origin of sediments. Therefore, plant-affecting contamination, that is bound in sediments, was
indicated.
Conclusions The novel sediment contact test withMyriophyllum aquaticum can indicate phytotoxic effects in sediments. Therefore, it allows a better assessment of the overall-toxicity in whole sediments.
Recommendations and Outlook The sediment contact test withMyriophyllum aquaticum is a valuable tool for the evaluation of the ecotoxicological risk potential of waters and sediments. It should become a

Peanut and its derivatives, especially peanut butter, are extensively consumed in many countries, mainly in the United States, which is also the major exporter of these products. trans-Resveratrol is present in peanuts, and recently this compound has been quantified in peanut butter. It is well-known that there are beneficial effects of trans-resveratrol and its glucoside, the piceid, in health. The absorption of trans-resveratrol has been proven in animals, and certain studies show that the absorption of some phenols is enhanced by conjugation with glucose, so that it could be possible that trans-piceid would be more absorbed than its aglycon (trans-resveratrol). In our work, we have identified the presence of trans-piceid in peanut butter with a new method to quantify trans-resveratrol and trans-piceid (3-beta-glucose of trans-resveratrol). This fact is very interesting because the glucosilated form could be more easily absorbed by the intestinal gut; in this way trans-piceid would exercise its beneficial function more efficiently than trans-resveratrol. To our knowledge, this is the first time that trans-piceid has been quantified in peanut butter. Resveratrol and piceid contents in natural peanut butters were found to be significantly higher than those in blended peanut butters. 相似文献

Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) concentrations were determined in sediment samples along the bed of Catatumbo river in both Colombian and Venezuelan territories until the river outlet in Maracaibo lake. Total phosphorus was determined by digestion with HCl followed by analysis using the ascorbic acid method and total nitrogen was done using the standard microkjeldahl method plus nitrate-nitrite. Ammonium, orthophosphate and nitrate were determined using standard methods after extraction steps. The mean concentrations along the river bed were found in an interval of 0.035 and 1.492 mg g-1 dry sed. for nitrogen and 0.027 and 1.039 mg g-1 dry sed. for phosphorus at 95% confidence level. The mean molar ratio N/P in the river bed was 4.42 and 3.46 for river outlet zones in the lake, which indicates that nitrogen is the limiting nutrient. For comparison with previous results of lake sediments from sites near the river outlet it was concluded that Catatumbo river is a significant source of nutrients to the Maracaibo Lake system because sediment nutrients concentrations from Catatumbo river were higher than the ones in Maracaibo Lake. Statistic studies showed significant differences between countries, zones and similar behaviour in the river bed as related to the affluent rivers. 相似文献

Anthropogenic conversion of primary forest to pasture for cattle production is still frequent in the Amazon Basin. Practices adopted by ranchers to restore productivity to degraded pasture have the potential to alter soil N availability and N gas losses from soils. We examined short-term (35 days) effects of tillage prior to pasture re-establishment on soil N availability, CO2, NO and N2O fluxes and microbial biomass C and N under degraded pasture at Nova Vida ranch, Rondônia, Brazilian Amazon. We collected soil samples and measured gas fluxes in tilled and control (non tilled pasture) 12 times at equally spaced intervals during October 2001 to quantify the effect of tillage. Maximum soil NH4+ and NO3− pools were 13.2 and 6.3 kg N ha−1 respectively after tillage compared to 0.24 and 6.3 kg N ha−1 in the control. Carbon dioxide flux ranged from 118 to 181 mg C–CO2 m2 h−1 in the control (non-tilled) and from 110 to 235 mg C–CO2 m2 h−1 when tilled. Microbial biomass C varied from 365 to 461 μg g−1 in the control and from 248 to 535 μg g−1 when tilled. The values for N2O fluxes ranged from 1.22 to 96.9 μg N m−2 h−1 in the tilled plots with a maximum 3 days after the second tilling. Variability in NO flux in the control and when tilled was consistent with previous measures of NO emissions from pasture at Nova Vida. When tilled, the NO/N2O ratio remained <1 after the first tilling suggesting that denitrification dominated N cycling. The effects of tilling on microbial parameters were less clear, except for a decrease in qCO2 and an increase in microbial biomass C/N immediately after tilling. Our results suggest that restoration of degraded pastures with tillage will lead to less C matter, at least initially. Further long-term research is needed. 相似文献

This study examined the variations in soil physical, chemical and biological properties from Agave angustifolia fields in three sites with different topographic conditions (valley, hill and mountain), in Oaxaca, Mexico, associated with the tillage systems, disk ploughing (DP), animal drawn ploughing (ADP) and minimum tillage (MT), respectively. Plant ages were 1.5–3.5 years (class 1), 3.6–5.5 years (class 2) and 5.6–7.5 years (class 3). Soil samples were taken at two soil depths (0–20 and 21–40 cm) from plots of 4000 m2 within each site and plant age classes, during the spring of 2005. The main changes in soil properties were found in the mountain site. Soil bulk density (2.0 g cm−3), cone penetration resistance (CPR) (3.96 MPa), 0.7 and 1.0 mm water stable aggregates (WSA) (28.3 g kg−1 and 102.2 g kg−1, respectively) were higher in the mountain site than in the hill and valley fields. This result is consistent with the rocky substrate beneath the shallow soil. Soil organic carbon (SOC) (23.9 g kg−1), available N (23.1 mg kg−1) and soil microbial biomass carbon (SMBC) (969.6 μg g−1) at the mountain site showed the highest values, suggesting that MT practiced in this topographic condition favours the organic matter accumulation and biological activity. Soil microbial biomass carbon and SOC seem to be the soil properties that were mainly affected by the sites and soil management associated with them. For the three sites, SOC, POlsen, available N, exchangeable Na+ and SMBC were higher at 0–20 cm depth than at 21–40 cm depth within each site. Exchangeable Ca2+ and K+, POlsen and CPR increased with plant age. In contrast, available N decreased. Soil chemical properties were more affected by the age of the plant than physical and biological properties. Results reported here represent a reference of the fertility properties of soils cultivated with A. angustifolia, which could be used in further studies focused on management and tillage systems. 相似文献

Background, Aims and Scope Disposal of dredged material in subaqueous depots is increasingly considered an economic and ecologically sound option in
managing contaminated dredged material. The concept of subaqueous disposals capped with active barrier systems has been developed
to minimize this risk of contaminant release. As such a depot represents a permanent installation within a sensitive ecosystem,
it requires a thorough monitoring concept. It is the goal of this work to develop such a concept regarding general considerations
and results of laboratory and field investigations.
Methods In addition to the state-of-the-art techniques developed for other under-water constructions, this monitoring concept is developed
with particular respect to the chemical isolation of the dredged material from the overlying water body. It comprises the
use of seepage meters, dialysis samplers, and DGT gel probes for determining the migration of selected target solutes. The
capability of the dialysis samplers is demonstrated by comparing field results with model calculations. The appropriateness
of DGT probes to assess the impact of humic substances on trace metal speciation and on copper toxicity is demonstrated with
the aid of laboratory experiments.
Results and Discussion The experimental results show that, by using dialysis samplers, the temporal changes in concentration-depth-profiles of heavy
metals in the pore solution can be monitored. Additionally, the application of DGT probes facilitates the in situ detection
of labile species of a metal in the presence of dissolved humic substances, which serves to reflect its toxicity. Conclusions.
Three subsequent monitoring phases are distinguished on the basis of both general considerations and the findings from field
results: A hydraulic phase that is characterized by compaction and pore water expulsion, a geochemical phase in which the
demobilization of pollutants can occur due to substantial changes in the physico-chemical conditions (pH, EH), and a steady-state-phase
where pore water flow and geochemical conditions are approaching their minimum.
Recommendations and Outlook The monitoring concept suggested here provides a versatile tool to assess the chemical isolation of subaqueous sediment depots
and other contaminated sediment sites. This is of great importance as subaqueous disposal is increasingly considered a future
management strategy as space for upland disposal is limited and treatment, in general, proves to be too costly. 相似文献
