Leptosphaeria maculans, the cause of stem canker of oilseed rape (OSR), exhibits gene-for-gene interactions with its host plant. The race structure of L. maculans was assessed on the basis of the analysis of 1011 isolates collected in France between 1990 and 2000, with regards to three AVR genes, AvrLm1, AvrLm2 and AvrLm4. The effect of selection pressure, due to large-scale cropping of Rlm1 cultivars, on the evolution of races of the fungus was also evaluated. The results revealed a scarcity or complete absence of isolates harbouring AvrLm2, whereas isolates harbouring AvrLm4 were present at a variable level, that was as high as 17.2–31.2% depending on the sample year and location. When obtained from rlm1 cultivars, isolates harbouring AvrLm1 always represented more than 83% of the populations until the 1997–1998 growing season. As a consequence, the Rlm1 cultivars had been highly efficient at controlling the disease and were grown on an estimated 43.7% of the total French acreage in OSR in 1998–1999. However, the increased commercial success of Rlm1 cultivars was paralleled by a decrease in the proportion of isolates harbouring AvrLm1 in 1997–1998 and 1998–1999. This resulted in less than 13% of isolates harbouring AvrLm1 in populations being collected from rlm1 cultivars in 1999 and 2000, and contributed to the loss of efficiency of the Rlm1 resistance in the field. The present study is an illustration of one round of a `boom and bust' cycle that occurred for a pathosystem where it has never been reported before. These data and the high evolutionary potential of L. maculans are fully supportive of one pathogen species with a high risk of breaking down resistance genes in OSR and suggest that the development of integrated strategies aiming at maximising the durability of novel resistance is now a priority for this pathosystem.  相似文献

Mastitis may be caused by a wide range of microorganisms able to induce distinct lesions in mammary tissues. This study aims to characterize the gross and microscopic features of mastitis in dairy cows and to correlate them with the pathogens involved. The udders of slaughtered dairy cows were inspected and milk samples from each mammary quarter or fragments of the parenchyma were sent for microbiological analysis, and tissue collected for histopathological evaluation. A total of 148 cows and 592 mammary quarters were collected. From these, 432 quarters (73%) had mastitis and in 160 (27%), no changes were observed. Mastitis was classified into seven patterns based on the histopathological findings, of which mixed, lymphoplasmacytic, and suppurative mastitides were the most prevalent with 35.9% (155/432), 27.1% (117/432), and 14.3% (62/432) of the cases, respectively. These patterns were associated with the same set of pathogens: Streptococcus spp., coagulase-negative Staphylococcus (CNS), Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus uberis, and Corynebacterium bovis. The pyogranulomatous pattern represented 7.2% (31/432) of the cases with distinct distribution based on the agent involved, mostly S. aureus and Nocardia sp. Abscedative mastitis accounted for 6.0% (26/432) of the cases; it was characterized by multiple abscesses in the parenchyma and was mainly caused by Trueperella pyogenes. Necrosuppurative mastitis represented 5.8% (25/432) of the cases which were characterized by severe parenchyma necrosis and were caused by bacteria such as CNS and Escherichia coli. The granulomatous pattern represented 3.7% (16/432) of the cases and was occasionally associated with Mycobacterium sp.

An 8‐year‐old 24.6 kg mixed breed dog underwent bronchoscopy for evaluation of a persistent progressive cough. Bronchoscopy documented a markedly thick and irregular, cobblestone appearance of the mucosa. A bronchoscopic biopsy was obtained; immediately after the biopsy, a large amount of hemorrhage poured from the endotracheal tube. Multiple efforts to control the hemorrhage were unsuccessful and the dog suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest and could not be revived. A necropsy was performed, which was significant for pallor, evidence of prior heartworm disease, prominent bronchial arteries, and erosion of the submucosal vessels at the site of the biopsy. The cause of death was hemorrhage associated with transbronchial biopsy of an enlarged bronchial artery associated with heartworm disease. This report describes a rare complication of a routine diagnostic procedure.  相似文献

Grapevine trunk disease pathogens, and specifically Petri disease pathogens, can be spread by planting infected plants. Due to the increasing incidence of Petri disease and other young grapevine declines reported lately in Spain, a sampling of plants used before for new vineyards were carried out in 2002 and 2004. A total number of 208 plants (grafted and non grafted) were collected, of which 94 plants (45.2%) were infected with at least one of the following pathogens: Phaeomoniella chlamydospora, and species of Phaeoacremonium, Botryosphaeria, Cylindrocarpon, and Phomopsis. Species of the genera Phaeoacremonium and Botryosphaeria isolated in 2004 were identified using morphological and molecular characters. Species of Phaeoacremonium identified were P. aleophilum and P. parasiticum; and those of Botryosphaeria were B. obtusa, B. dothidea and B. parva. This is the first report of P. parasiticum and B. parva occurring on grapevines in Spain. Distribution of pathogens within the plants was studied in 2004. Phaeomoniella chlamydospora was not detected in the graft union of any plant; however, species of Botryosphaeria and Phomopsis were detected along the plant, but mainly in the graft union; Phaeoacremonium aleophilum was detected along the grafted plants, but not in rooted rootstocks. The results suggest that infected plants used for new plantings in Spain are an important source of primary inoculum of the pathogens associated with grapevine trunk diseases in the field.  相似文献

Nitrogen (N) inputs are recognised to maximise herbage mass (HM) in tropical perennial grasses, whereas less is clear on their impact on HM distribution and the effects on leaf mass (LM) and leaf area index (LAI) in the upper stratum. This 2 year study, carried out in Pirassununga, Brazil, assessed the HM distribution in the upper (>20 cm) and lower (<20 cm) strata in Urochloa hybrid ‘Mavuno’ grass maintained under similar pre- and post-cutting canopy heights with contrasting N fertilisation rates applied after each cutting (no-nitrogen, 15, 30, and 45 kg N ha−1). The relevance of specific leaf area (SLA), leaf N concentration (NLeaf), tiller weight (TW) and population density to the LM and LAI of the upper stratum were also examined. Mavuno grass expressed a stable HM < 20 cm (59%–71% during Year I and 66%–80% for Year II), and apparent N fertilisation impacts on HM > 20 cm were verified at specific regrowth cycles during Year II. Mavuno grass pastures expressed plasticity for adjustments on leaf, tiller and population attributes, which were modulated by both climatic conditions and N fertilisation. Under favourable growth conditions during Year I, fertilised pastures were able to sustain higher NLeaf and SLA but associated with lower TW, resulting in maximisation of LAI but not in LM in the upper stratum. During Year II, fertilised pastures expressed higher NLeaf, SLA, number of basal tillers, despite the lowest TW, which resulted in higher LAI and LM in the upper stratum compared with non-fertilised pastures. Our results highlighted that adjustments on leaf and population attributes within the canopy were driven to maximise the upper stratum LAI, being positively affected by N fertilisation.  相似文献

为研究不同施肥处理对甘蔗耐寒性的影响,以甘蔗品种新台糖22、滇蔗01-58为供试材料,通过6种不同施肥处理(D1、D2、H1、H2、DH1、DH2),在甘蔗苗期进行低温(3℃)胁迫,同时测定与耐寒性相关的各项生理生化指标。结果显示:(1)通过极点排序法计算得到电导率、可溶性糖含量、可溶性蛋白含量、丙二醛(MDA)含量、超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性的权重系数分别为0.190、0.203、0.096、0.341、0.170,其中,可溶性糖含量和MDA含量的权重系数较大,说明这两个指标对甘蔗耐寒性的影响较大。(2)不同施肥处理对甘蔗耐寒性影响表现为DH1>DH2>H2>D2>H1>D1,说明不同施肥处理对甘蔗耐寒性影响不同,但总体趋势是一致的,即新型肥料海生源与普通复合肥配合施用可显著提高甘蔗品种的耐寒性。  相似文献

通过10个甘蔗品种的核型分析,研究其染色体组成系统演化和血缘构成的基本特征,为甘蔗育种选配亲本提供细胞学依据。以10个甘蔗品种的根尖为材料,采用改良的酶解去壁低渗法制备染色体标本,再利用Ikaros软件进行核型分析。‘粤糖86-368’的核型公式为2n=111=2M+103m+4sm+2T,‘桂糖11’的核型公式为2n=106=96m+10sm,这2个品种的核型分类均属于1B型;‘新台糖10’的核型公式为2n=108=98m+10sm,‘新台糖16’的核型公式为2n=111=4M+101m+6sm,‘新台糖20’的核型公式为2n=110=98m+10sm+2st,‘新台糖22’的核型公式为2n=110=2M+96m+12sm,‘粤糖93-159’的核型公式为2n=108=2M+88m+18sm,‘闽糖69-421’的核型公式为2n=109=95m+14sm,‘云蔗89-151’的核型公式为2n=111=91m+20sm这7个品种的核型分类均属于2B型;‘云蔗99-91’的核型公式为2n=108=84m+22sm+2st,核型分类属于2C型。研究结果说明,‘粤糖86-368’、‘桂糖11’这2个品种的进化程度都还比较原始;‘云蔗99-91’、‘云蔗89-151’进化程度最高;其余6个品种进化程度中等。  相似文献
