Populations of the green peach aphid,Myzus persicae (Sulzer), and the potato aphid,Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Thomas), were observed on 27 named varieties of Irish potatoes in the Yakima Valley of Washington intermittently from 1947 through 1968. The Epicure, Great Scot, and B5141-6 varieties produced relatively fewer green peach aphids than other varieties tested; Bliss Triumph and Red Pontiac produced relatively fewer potato aphids. Except for Doebay Red, the red-skinned varieties, Bliss Triumph, Red McLure, Norland, and Earnly Rose, were extremely to moderately productive of the green peach aphid. The sprout inhibitor chlorpropham (CIPC) was applied in varying concentrations to individual eyes of potato tubers. Sensitivity of a given eye to CIPC depended upon the status of the remaining eyes on the same tuber. If the remaining eyes were inhibited, higher concentrations of CIPC were required for inhibition of the given eye. Apical eyes were more sensitive to CIPC than were lateral eyes. It was confirmed that CIPC is highly volatile and that contaminating levels of CIPC vapors can induce a rosette sprout growth. Seed potatoes treated with low concentrations of CIPC before planting sprouted more slowly than untreated potatoes, and the delay was related to CIPC concentration. At high CIPC levels, total emergence as well as rate of emergence was reduced. Daniel-Navan is a new potato cultivar suitable for the spring crop (between February and July) in the Negev region of Israel, and having a high yielding potential with excellent tuber appearance. The cultivar is resistant to heat stress, Verticillium wilt (V. dahliae) and early blight (Alternaria solani). Tubers of Daniel-Navan are oval, white-skinned, with creamy-white flesh, free of deformities, and growth cracks. It has a high dry matter content (22.7%) and boils and bakes well. The marketable yield of Daniel-Navan obtained at maturity consistently surpasses that of Desiree, the control. Daniel-Navan is a main crop cultivar bred and selected by the Horticultural and Plant Breeding Station, Northern Ireland, and the Agricultural Research Organization, Gilat Experiment Station, Israel. Owing to its high yielding performance and tuber quality, this cultivar could be suitable for use in regions with a hot climate. 相似文献

diol (PCL), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), ethylene diamine (EDA), and triethylamine (TEA), NaOH, or Cu(COOCH3)2 as neutralizing agent. This study was performed to decide the effect of neutralizing agent type on the particle size, viscosity,
hydrogen bonding index, adhesive strength, antistaticity, antibacterial and mechanical properties. The particle size of the
dispersions decreased in the following order: TEA based samples (T-sample), NaOH based samples(N-sample), and Cu(COOCH3)2 based sample (C-sample). The viscosity of the dispersions increased in the order of C-sample, N-sample, and T-sample. Metal
salt based film samples (N and C-sample) had much higher antistaticity than TEA based sample. By infrared spectroscopy, it
was found that the hydrogen bonding index (or fraction) of samples decreased in the order of T-sample, N-sample, and C-sample.
The adhesive strength and tensile modulus/strength decreased in the order of T-sample, N-sample, and C-sample. The C-sample

Two new secondary metabolites, arcticoside (1) and C-1027 chromophore-V (2), were isolated along with C-1027 chromophore-III and fijiolides A and B (3–5) from a culture of an Arctic marine actinomycete Streptomyces strain. The chemical structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated through NMR, mass, UV, and IR spectroscopy. The hexose moieties in 1 were determined to be d-glucose from a combination of acid hydrolysis, derivatization, and gas chromatographic analyses. Arcticoside (1) and C-1027 chromophore-V (2), which have a benzoxazine ring, inhibited Candida albicans isocitrate lyase. Chromophore-V (2) exhibited significant cytotoxicity against breast carcinoma MDA-MB231 cells and colorectal carcinoma cells (line HCT-116), with IC50 values of 0.9 and 2.7 μM, respectively. 相似文献
