Antibodies against P450scc, P450c17 and P450arom were generated using recombinant proteins. In eel testis, P450scc and P450c17 were immunolocalized as clusters in Leydig cells. In vitellogenic eel ovary, P450scc and P450c17 immunoreactive cells were localized as clusters in the outer layer of the ovarian follicle. Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is an important pathogen associated with enzootic bovine leukosis. In this study, we performed PCR and sequencing analysis to characterize BLVgp51 sequences from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) specimens made from 1974 to 2000 and successfully obtained BLV proviral genome sequences from 94% of the analyzed samples. Furthermore, from these samples, we reconstructed eight full-length and nearly full-length BLVgp51 sequences. These sequences were classified as BLV genotype 1, implying that genotype1 has already been circulating in Japan since the 1970s. In our results, the proviral DNA was detected in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s in the same manner, indicating that the detection of BLV proviral genome depends on storage conditions rather than storage period. The sequences obtained in this study provide direct insights into BLV sequences before 2000, which serves as a good calibrator for inferring ancient BLV diversity. 相似文献

We selected a reduced-pathogenicity mutant of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici, a tomato wilt pathogen, from the transformants generated by restriction enzyme-mediated integration (REMI) transformation. The gene tagged with the plasmid in the mutant was predicted to encode a protein of 321 amino acids and was designated FPD1. Homology search showed its partial similarity to a chloride conductance regulatory protein of Xenopus, suggesting that FPD1 is a transmembrane protein. Although the function of FPD1 has not been identified, it does participate in the pathogenicity of F. oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici because FPD1-deficient mutants reproduced the reduced pathogenicity on tomato.The nucleotide sequence data reported are available in the DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank databases under the accession number AB110097 相似文献

Six new anthraquinone glycosides: digiferruginol-1-methylether-11-O-β-gentiobioside (1); digiferruginol-11-O-β-primeveroside (2); damnacanthol-11-O-β-primeveroside (3); 1-methoxy-2-primeverosyloxymethyl-anthraquinone-3-olate (4); 1-hydroxy-2-primeverosyloxymethyl-anthraquinone-3-olate (5); and 1-hydroxy-5,6-dimethoxy-2-methyl-7-primeverosyloxyanthraquinone (6) were isolated from Morinda citrifolia (Rubiaceae) roots together with four known anthraquinone glycosides. The structures of the new compounds were established using spectral methods. For five of the new compounds, the sugar is attached via the hydroxymethyl group of the anthraquinone C-2 carbon. The common marmoset (Callithrix
jacchus) is now widely used in various
research fields, including toxicology. However,
information about the background pathology of this
species is scarce. Here, we report a case of
rhabdomyosarcoma that spontaneously occurred in a
common marmoset. A 44-month-old male common
marmoset was euthanized due to bilateral hind limb
paralysis. At necropsy, a 2×2×5-cm intramuscular
mass was observed in the lower right back.
Histologically, the mass was mainly composed of
interlacing bundles of spindle-shaped tumor cells.
Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were
positive for myogenin, desmin, vimentin and
alpha-smooth muscle actin. Ultrastructurally, the
tumor cells contained bundles of myofilaments with
Z-band-like structures. Thus, the tumor was
diagnosed as a rhabdomyosarcoma. To our knowledge,
this is the first report of spontaneous
rhabdomyosarcoma that was definitely diagnosed in

Immunoglobulin M (IgM) is known as a main factor in the humoral immune system of teleosts. In the present study, the effect
of cortisol on plasma IgM concentrations was investigated using a specific antibody to IgM in masu salmon (Oncorhynchus masou). Cortisol was orally administered each day for 2 weeks at a dose of 1 mg g−1 in the diet, and for the following week the fish were fed a non-treated diet. Blood plasma samples were collected at 0, 1,
2 and 3 weeks after the initiation of treatment. Oral administration of cortisol elevated plasma cortisol concentrations to
about 40 ng/ml for 2 weeks after administration and slightly reduced plasma IgM concentration; the suppression was statistically
significant one week after the period of hormone administration. However, treatment with cortisol did not affect plasma concentrations
of total protein or α1-protein, one of the major serum proteins, during the experimental period. These results indicate that
cortisol specifically suppresses plasma IgM concentrations. 相似文献

Contagious yawning is triggered by others yawning, and it has previously been reported in humans, primates and several experimental and companion mammals. Whereas it might be a response to an innate releasing mechanism, contagious yawning is also considered to involve emotional contagion. Here, we demonstrate that sheep, the animal model of livestock animals, also experience contagious yawning. Twelve adult castrated Corriedale sheep were used in this study. Pairs of sheep were adjacently restrained with or without a wooden divider panel to shield them from viewing the other. Their behaviors were video‐recorded for 3 days in each condition. Sheep yawned 2.0 ± 1.1 and 1.2 ± 1.1 times/day/head in the unshielded and shielded conditions, respectively. Unshielded restrained sheep yawned within 1 min after the other one 11.1% of the time, while shielded pairs did not exhibit contagious yawning. Rumination was also highly synchronized under the unshielded condition. These data reveal that contagious yawning and behavioral synchronicity occur in ruminants like sheep, making them a suitable animal model to investigate contagious yawning and the underlying mechanism. 相似文献
