One of the important issues relevant to wood/plastic composite molding is the compatibility between hydrophilic wood and hydrophobic
plastic. Polyolefins modified with maleic anhydride, which have been frequently used for wood and polyolefin composites, are
not effective for poly(lactic acid) composites. Because compounds with both hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups are potential
compatibilizers, cellulose esters of several carboxylic acids, RCOO-cellulose (R = CH3, C2H5, C3H7, C4H9, C5H11, C11H23), were synthesized and their effects as compatibilizers of wood/poly(lactic acid) composites (WPLC) were examined in this
study. The mechanical properties of WPLC were improved with a small amount of added cellulose esters, especially cellulose
butyrate or cellulose valerate. The relevant effect of added cellulose esters on the thermal properties of wood/PLA composite
was analyzed by measuring dynamic viscoelasticity.

Nail-head pull-through, lateral nail resistance, and single shear nailed joint tests were conducted on medium density fiberboard
(MDF) with different density profiles, and the relations between the results of these tests and the density profiles of MDF
were investigated. The maximum load of nail-head pull-through and the maximum load of nailed joints were little affected by
the density profile. However, the ultimate strength of lateral nail resistance, the stiffness, and the yield strength of nailed
joints were affected by the density profile of MDF and showed high values when the surface layer of the MDF had high density.
It is known that bending performance is also influenced by density profile. Therefore, the stiffness and the yield strength
of nailed joints were compared with the bending performance of MDF. The stiffness of nailed joints was positively correlated
with the modulus of elasticity (MOE); in the case of CN65 nails, the initial stiffness of joints changed little in response
to changes in MOE. The yield strength of nailed joints had a high positive correlation with the modulus of rupture (MOR).
The stiffness and the yield strength of nailed joints showed linear relationships with MOE and MOR, respectively. 相似文献

Our previous studies demonstrate the therapeutic efficacy against bovine diseases of an anti-bovine programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) chimeric antibody. In humans, PD-1 and PD-L1 antibodies are more effective when combined with an antibody targeting cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4) and these combination therapies are therefore clinically used. Here we generated an anti-bovine CTLA-4 chimeric antibody (chAb) to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of the PD-L1 antibody. We further analyzed the effects of dual blockade of CTLA-4 and PD-1 pathways on T-cell responses. The established anti-bovine CTLA-4 chAb showed comparable blocking activity on the binding of bovine CTLA-4 to CD80 and CD86 as the anti-bovine CTLA-4 mouse monoclonal antibody. Anti-bovine CTLA-4 chAb also significantly increased IL-2 production from bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Further, the combination of anti-CTLA-4 chAb with anti-PD-L1 chAb significantly upregulated IL-2 production by PBMCs. These results suggest that the combination of antibodies have higher potential to enhance immune responses against pathogens compared with single administration. 相似文献

A 5-day-old male crossbred beef calf presented with a well-coordinated bilateral hopping gait of the hind limbs. Postmortem CT showed a poorly defined oval-shaped region at the L3–L4 spinal segments, which had high signal intensity on T2 weighted postmortem MRI images. On pathological examination, we identified a large cystic cavity filled with a large amount of cerebrospinal fluid on the cut surface of the spinal region. Histopathological examination revealed that the spinal cord parenchyma was compressed by the cystic structure, and the cystic cavity was lined with a thin layer of discrete ependymal cells, indicating syringohydromyelia. This is the first reported case of a Holstein-Friesian × Japanese Black crossbred calf with solitary syringohydromyelia. Our findings suggest that myelodysplasia with cystic cavities can be suspected by CT, without the need for MRI. 相似文献

During surveillance for bovine diarrhea of unknown causes in Japanese black cattle in Kagoshima Prefecture,
Japan, we found two types of novel kobu-like viruses in fecal samples of calves. Sequence analyses revealed
that they had L protein and 2A protein with H-box/NC sequence motif, which are present in kobuviruses.
Phylogenetic analysis revealed that they were related to kobuviruses; however, they clustered apart from other
kobuviruses. In the prevalence study of two types of novel kobu-like viruses, 16.9% and 10.4% prevalence of
these viruses were observed in the feces of diarrheal calves in this area. 相似文献

Silica (SiO2) exhibits extensive polymorphism at elevated pressures. X-ray diffraction measurements showed that a high-pressure form with a pyrite-type structure, denser than other known silica phases, is stable above 268 giga-pascals and 1800 kelvin. The silicon coordination number increases from 6 in the alpha-PbO2-type phase to 6+2 in the pyrite-type phase, leading to a large increase in density by about 5% at the phase transition. 相似文献

Serum cystatin C levels (CysC) are used in human medicine to document progressive kidney failure. Although CysC are not thought to be useful for the diagnosis of kidney dysfunction in dogs, there has been no specific consideration of body weight as a confounding issue. The aim of this study was to assess that the utility of CysC for the diagnosis of decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in smaller vs. larger dogs. In clinically healthy dogs, serum creatinine (Cre) and CysC correlate directly with body weight; we found that dogs weighing <20 kg had significantly lower CysC than those weighing ≥20 kg (0.27 ± 0.07 vs. 0.34 ± 0.05 mg/l, respectively, P<0.001). In dogs weighing <20 kg, CysC had superior diagnostic accuracy for the detection of mildly decreased plasma iohexol clearance (PCio) (<1.8 ml/min/kg) compared with Cre (sensitivity 100% vs. 80.9% and specificity 100% vs. 85.7%); this was not true for dogs weighing ≥20 kg. Additionally, using a cut-off PCio of <1.8 ml/min/kg, the area under receiver-operating characteristics curve (AUC) of CysC was significantly higher than that of Cre in dogs weighing <20 kg (P<0.05); this was not true for dogs weighing ≥20 kg (P=0.695). In conclusion, CysC is a useful marker for the detection of a mild decreasing GFR compared with Cre in dogs weighing <20 kg. 相似文献

Recalcitrance to saccharifi cation is a major limiting factor of the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to ethanol. Levels of wood saccharification and subsequent ethanol production were higher in transgenic mangium (Acacia mangium) trees overexpressing xyloglucanase than in wild-type plants, even after delignification of the wood. We propose that a decrease in the quantity of xyloglucan that is intercalated into cellulose microfibrils could facilitate the process of saccharification. 相似文献

Phenolic constituents of a new functional fermented tea produced by tea-rolling processing of a mixture (9:1) of tea leaves and loquat leaves were examined in detail. The similarity of the phenolic composition to that of black tea was indicated by high-performance liquid chromatography comparison with other tea products. Twenty-five compounds, including three new catechin oxidation products, were isolated, and the structures of the new compounds were determined to be (2R)-2-hydroxy-3-(2,4,6-trihydroxyphenyl)-1-(3,4,5-trihydroxyphenyl)-1-propanone 2-O-gallate, dehydrotheasinensin H, and acetonyl theacitrin A by spectroscopic methods. In addition, theacitrinin A and theasinensin H were obtained for the first time from commercial tea products. Isolation of these new and known compounds confirms that reactions previously demonstrated by in vitro model experiments actually occur when fresh tea leaves are mechanically distorted and bruised during the production process. 相似文献
