Bovine coronavirus isolates from eight different states of the USA were compared for their antigenic properties and susceptibility to hygromycin B. Antigenic differences were observed among the isolates in a one-way hemagglutination-inhibition (HI) test using a polyclonal antiserum against the Mebus bovine coronavirus isolate. Differences were observed on isoelectric focusing among viral proteins with isoelectric points between 4.45-4.65. Most of the BCV isolates were susceptible to hygromycin B (0.5 mM) whereas a few hygromycin B resistant isolates were also found. 相似文献

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is the most contagious disease of mammals and a major threat to animal husbandry sector. In India, vaccination with the inactivated trivalent (O, A and Asia1) vaccine is one proven way for protecting the livestock from FMD. However, many outbreaks have been reported in different parts of the country. Therefore, present study was aimed at elucidating the effects of genetic and non-genetic factors on FMD viral vaccine-elicited immune response in Hardhenu cattle. The effect of season of vaccination was not consistent. The effect of status of animal was significant for all the pre and post AB titres except for pre AB titre of serotype O and post AB titre of Asia1.The estimates of heritability for response to vaccination were low to high ranging from 0.11 to 0.45. The highest heritability estimate was obtained for serotype O and the lowest for Asia1. The heritability estimates for pre and post AB titres ranged from 0.15 to 0.33. All the pre and post AB titres and responses to vaccination had genetic correlations ranged from high negative to high positive among them. Results of this study highlight the variation in vaccine response which needs to be further exploited on large-scale animal data for better immunization and protection against highly contagious viral vesicular disease of cloven-hoofed animals. 相似文献

The aim of this research was designed in order to optimize integrated plant nutrient supply (IPNS) through balanced fertilization of organic, inorganic and microbial inoculants in strawberry cv. Chandler. The potential efficiency of bio-organics used along with chemical fertilizers on cropping behaviour, physical-chemical and biological properties of rhizosphere soil, fruit yield, quality attributes and leaf nutrient content was investigated. The significant improvement in physico-chemical properties of the soil and nutrient uptake was recorded. The uninoculated control received farmyard manure (FYM) and inorganic nitrogen (N) recorded the highest cation exchange capacity (CEC) and soil organic carbon (OC) content. Highest available N and phosphorus (P) of soil were recorded in vermicompost and inorganic N applied in two and one split, respectively. The concentration of micronutrients cations viz., iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn) in soil was higher in treatment received vermicompost and inorganic N in two splits. The integration of bio-organic nutrient supplements also significantly enriched the microbial status of the rhizosphere soil, leaf nutrient concentration and maintained soil health and productivity on long term basis for sustainable fruit production. 相似文献

Triazophos, O,O-diethyl-1-H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl phosphorothioate, (TZ) is an organophosphorus pesticide which is extensively used in agriculture for controlling insect pests. Except a FAO/WHO report no study has investigated its short-term toxicity with respect to its potential to cause biochemical and histopathological alterations. The present study was designed to identify the effect of TZ at different doses (1.64, 3.2 and 8.2 mg/kg) on the oxidative stress parameters in blood as well as organs involved in xenobiotic metabolism (liver and brain) following chronic exposure for 90 days. Moreover, the study also delineates the effect of TZ on the histo-architecture of these organs. The results indicated a dose dependent induction (p < 0.001) of oxidative stress, as evident by increased malondialdehyde (MDA) level and compromised antioxidant defense including glutathione S transferase (GST) activity, glutathione (GSH) content and ferric reducing ability of plasma (FRAP) in blood, and increased MDA level with concomitantly decreased GSH content in tissues, following chronic exposure to TZ. The ratio of MDA: FRAP in blood was found to be increased following chronic exposure to TZ and may serve as a suitable indicator of severity of oxidative damage. Onset of such biochemical alterations is one of the early adaptive responses to TZ exposure which leads to histopathological alterations in terms of diffuse fatty changes expanding from mid-zonal area to whole lobule in liver. However, increased oxidative stress did not bring any morphological alteration in brain. The present study concludes that induction of oxidative stress, leading to subsequent histopathological alterations in liver, is an important mechanism underlying the TZ induced chronic toxicity. 相似文献

A greenhouse experiment was conducted in loamy sand soil to compare the effects of agro-industrial waste composts on yield and nutrient uptake by wheat. The raw materials of agro-industrial wastes and chemical fertilizers were used as controls. The yields were significantly higher with agro-industrial waste composts compared with their raw materials. Compost-fertilized grain yields were increased by 118% with poultry waste compost and by 97% with chemical fertilizes compared with unfertilized control. Agro-industrial waste composts applied with NK (recommended dose) fertilizers, except distillery effluent compost, produced a wheat grain yield comparable with that obtained with NPK (recommended dose) fertilizers, indicating a net saving of 100% of P fertilizer. Application of agro-industrial waste composts significantly increased NPK uptake by wheat and improved the post-harvest NPK status of soil compared with addition of their raw materials. Up to 60 days of composting, severe suppression of tomato seed germination was observed, which improved thereafter in all the composts. Our results suggest that the germination index >70% may be accepted as an indicator for disappearance of phytotoxic substances. 相似文献

This study investigates the effect of conjoint use of bio-organics (biofertilizers + crop residues + FYM) and chemical fertilizers on yield, physical–chemical and microbial properties of soil in a ‘French bean–cauliflower’-based cropping system of mid hills of the north-western Himalayan Region (NWHR) of India. Conjoint bio-organics at varied levels of NPK chemical fertilizers increased yield of ‘cauliflower’ over corresponding single application. Incorporation of crop residues with 75% of the recommended NPK application resulted in the highest yield (19 t ha?1). Conjoint use of bio-organics produced a yield (15.65 t ha?1), which was statistically on a par with 75% of the recommended NPK application alone. This indicated a saving of 75% NPK chemical fertilizers. In the case of ‘French bean’, the effect was non-significant. The results also showed significant higher soil available N (351.3 kg ha?1) under 75% NPK + biofertilizers, whereas the highest soil available K (268.3 kg ha?1) was recorded under 75% NPK + crop residues. Lowest bulk density (1.03 Mg m?3), highest water holding capacity (36.5%), soil organic matter (10.6 g kg?1), bacterial (4.13 × 107 cfu g?1) and fungal (6.3 × 107 cfu g?1) counts were recorded under sole application of bio-organics. According to our study, we concluded that the combination of NPK fertilizers and bio-organics increased yield except French bean, soil available N, K and saved chemical fertilizers under ‘French bean–cauliflower’-based cropping system. 相似文献

Mastitis is inflammation of mammary gland affecting all the species of domestic animals. Fragments of the mitochondrial genome released from dying cells are considered surrogate markers of mitochondrial injury. We hypothesized that bovine mastitis would be associated with increased cell free mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) content in serum and milk. Milk and serum samples were collected from sub-clinical mastitic and normal animals. Mastitis was confirmed by California mastitis test and bacterial isolation. Oxidative stress, nitric oxide and inflammatory cytokines were also estimated. Real time polymerase chain reaction was conducted in serum and milk from sub-clinical mastitic animals and compared with healthy animals targeting the mtDNA genes cytochrome b. Mastitis animals showed higher oxidative stress markers and nitric oxide along with higher level of inflammatory cytokines. Cell free mtDNA was significantly higher in serum and milk of mastitic animals comparing to that of healthy control. The higher cell free relative mtDNA content in mastitis animals indicates injury to the mammary epithelial cells and thereby releasing the mtDNA in the milk and blood. This mtDNA may be a bio-marker of oxidative stress and tissue injury in bovine mastitis. 相似文献

Effect of Plant Growth Regulators and Different Nitrogen Sources on Glutamate Dehydrogenase Activity
Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) seedlings, treated with various plant growth regulators (PGRs) [viz. kinetin (KiN), gibberellic acid (GA), and abscisic acid(ABA)] were exposed to different nitrogen (N) sources in light and dark condition, and aminative (NADH) and deaminative (NAD+) glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) activities were measured in cotyledons. A differential effect of nitrogen sources, plant growth regulators, and light or dark condition was observed in all the treatments. The NAD‐GDH (deaminating) activity in radish seedlings was only about 10% of aminating activity (irrespective of the PGR treatment). Except with abscisic acid, in all other treatments, either NAD‐GDH or NADH‐GDH activities were more in dark than in light. The amination and deamination reactions also showed different ratios of activity under different N sources (KNO3, NH4Cl and NH4NO3). These data suggest the presence of isoenzymes or conformers of GDH, specific for each tissue, whose activities vary depending on the physiological condition of the tissue. Different energy status of the seedlings during light or dark condition or with PGR treatments may affect the GDH activity differently. 相似文献
